  • Semi-quick how to, for a rear hub assembly replacement on a 4WD Nissan Pathfinder SL. This is specifically a 2013, but covers up to current 2019 models, not to mention other AWD/4WD Nissan SUVs.

Instead of using a puller you can leave the 4 bolts you removed from the back of the hub out a few turns and then hit your sledge on the back of your socket and extension to get a gap started between the hub and the knuckle. Then remove your 4 bolts all the way and hopefully hand pull the hub off with only a few light taps or none at all.

Thank you for this video. I'm getting ready to do this on my 2015 rear hub.

Reverse of the uninstall my friend. It's very straight forward. Just don't forget, after you torque the axle nut with the car's weight on the ground right through the wheel's center cap- get it back up in the air, pull the wheel off again, to reinstall the cotter pin.

Would this work on previous year’s pathfinder/xterras since they shared differentials?

Does it need an alignment after changing the hub in the rear? Not changing any suspension geometry, right?

2013 pathfinder, nice video, my is startimg humming. I cant tell where from. Do I test the hub by the traditional way of moving the tire side to side with my hands?

Unfortunately moving the wheel side to side only checks tie rods, and up to down usually only checks ball joints/control arms. One of the most effective ways to check for wheel bearing is, If you think it's the driver side front for example, take a sharp left hand corner and listen for the sound of the humming to minimize or disappear. This is called unloading the suspension, which takes a majority of energy & weight off that corner, which will greatly change the sound of the failing wheel bearing/hub.
