A snooker is a trap, basically. In any form, your trying to block your opponent from shooting at the ball/balls they're meant to. So, in 8 ball, you would get it behind a solid, assuming your opponent is stripes. It's a very hard thing to do. Lol
@@James-kn5hb Oooh, thanks for the explanation. That is actually the last piece of the puzzle for me. So Snookers' is a game like pool where you try to get as many points as you can, and if you can't you put the white where your opponent can't use it.

He thought it wasn't enough, that's why he left the black and shook his opponent's hand, but the referee jeered him so he slammed it down. He once actually left the black, shook the opponent's and ref's hands, and walked away because he didn't want the "lowly" 10k pounds on offer.
My dad used to play a lot of snooker, picked it up when stationed in England prior to D-Day. I haven't seen a snooker table here in the USA in decades. It is the hardest billiards game I've ever played by a factor of 10. What this man did is mind boggling!
To put it in perspective, snooker was invented in 1875 and the first official 147 wasn’t scored until 1955. The first televised maximum was in 1982, so to call it when only a couple of balls have been potted and nonchalantly make it is indeed mind boggling.
I like how at the end of the game, Ronnie shook the ref's hand but completely ignored his ""opponent"", as if to say "What, are you still here? Show's over, go home."
For people who randomly stumbled upon this. When he was young there was a game where he was able to acore the maximum (147) points, but then asked how much would be the prize. When he found out it is only 10k he intentionaly scored only 146, because he didnt think it appropriate for the skill needed to do the 147
And that honestly is the reason I love watching him 😂 took a while to like him but when he basically says fuck you to the hosts for a shit prize fund considering the skill required you get my at most respect (not that it matters) regardless how cocky you are 😎
Rules for people who have discovered snooker thanks to the algorithm: 15 red balls, each worth one point. 6 colored balls with points: yellow 2, brown 3, green 4, blue 5, pink 6, black 7. Until you’re out of red balls, the players need to pot one red and one colored. A break is the sum of your points within a single turn at the table. So if ronnie made it up to say 80, then missed one, and luckily for him the opponent missed again with no points, and ronnie went back to the table and did a max 147, he wouldn’t have made a max break, only a 147. Cause it was done with two turns. So to do a max break you gotta clear the whole table in the most optimal way during a single turn. Since you gotta alternate between red and colored, and of all the colored balls black gives the most points, the max break is done with red-black combos until you run out of reds. After all the reds are gone, you pot one more black for the last red, then clear the colored balls off the table in the ascending order of points. There’s also a thing called “snooker”, that gives the game its name, where you make a “safe” shot by hiding the cue ball so that the opponent doesn’t have a direct line to any reds, so they’ll hit a colored one and faul etc etc.. red: 1 point, black: 7 points: 15 reds in total --> 15*(1+7) = 120 points after all the reds are gone and assuming you managed to get a black after each time you pot a red colored balls: 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 = 27 120 + 27 = 147 the max break (and also the max number of points on the table without snookers and fouls)
@@dawiddulian2403 And also the table is much larger than a pool table. I mean I am a pool guy myself (only at bars tho) and I tried snooker once.. yup, it was challenging :D

Snooker is turn based, like normal billard. A break measures their points scored in 1 turn. @@ColdSword816P no the color balls have different values. Yellow - 2, Green - 3, Brown - 4, Blue - 5, Pink - 6 and Black - 7. Hence, they are potted in ascending order of value once the 15 reds have been potted

For those who hasn't played snooker yet notice at how big that table is compared to the one in your house. It's like a football field compared to a putting green.
Read your comment again but slowly.....
@@mahanthFr yep, Dammit .
No sense at all.
Please forgive my ignorance but are we comparing a snooker table to a kitchen table or an average pool table?
@@RheaRobin Maybe a picnic table.
Never in my life have I ever seen anything like this in snooker! Also, this is the first time I’ve ever even seen or heard of snooker but I have played a boat load of pool in my life and I’m still mighty impressed!
“Have you ever seen anything like that in your life on the snooker table?” That is literally the only thing I have ever seen happen in my life on a snooker table
I had no clue to what was happening but that was the longest 6 minutes of my life and it was all worth it
For one's who don't know snooker, It's pool's Daddy.
Correction: it’s pool for grownups.
5252rpm 8 balls pool
@@CelestisForgeUK it's pool for people with good eye sight LOL
It's pool for sober people.
I thought Pool's Daddy was Billiards?
This UA-cam algorithm again brings you and me here 😂
U ruined the irony by that emoticon
King: *fails to pot the ball on his first try*
O'Sullivan: I'm about to end this man's whole career
It's 1am. I have overdue assignments. But this has become incredibly interesting
UA-cam: wanna watch some maximum breaks?
Me: I don’t know what an axinum brake is but ok.
Best comment ever! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't know what an "axinum" break is either.
@@wanderer1955 you missed the brake.. so
@@speedking1353 Give me a break!!
You could almost hear the "F**k you Barry" as that last black slammed in the back of the pocket. Most audacious 147 ever!
Did he shake hands with King at the end?
@@AKorigami nope
@@AKorigami he tried to but king didnt want to you can see it happen
If you look back when he first walks up to him he does shake his hand. Right before he pockets the black at the end
King: *misses 1st red*
O'Sullivan: so you've chosen death?
what a gentleman he is always make his opponent site quietly and peacefully on their chair love him ❣️
Watched this a number of times and still can't believe it!!
I’m also a part of the people who don’t know what going on or why I am here all I know is this man might be good at this
This man is (pretty much undoubtedly) the goat
"Apart" and "a part" have two very opposite meanings. If you are apart of those people, that means you do know what's going on.
UA-cam once a year increases the reach of roonie videos for some reason, I was you 4 years ago
Absolutely Genius Man.
Pots 2 balls and asks if there's a prize for the maximum. #legendary
Never in my 6 minutes and 33 seconds of watching snooker have I ever seen someone as great as this 🤣
Damn. Like a boss.

Why edit out the actual point where he asks?!!
It's not edited

@@ghostthebluenosepitbull3309 That's the answer. The question was edited out
Imagine being his opponent and just waiting for your turn to come
When he hit the last black is it just me that thinks he partly wanted himself to miss it? 😂
it was just a tiny bit risky lol
He did. He wasn't going to get the max break on the fact that the tornie didn't offer a cash reward to someone who got it. The only reason he took the shot was because the ref convinced him to as the people spectating had never seen a 147
I know about this game and this man from a random suggestion years ago that got me watching a ton. Ronnie is king by far
Snooker: take your best shot
Ronnie: 147
Snooker: what?
Ronnie: did I stutter?
I am the biggest fan of his. What a man 🥰 incredible ❤
Legend has it he’s still waiting for that handshake with Ronnie.
Legend has it he did get it, you just didn't bother to notice it before the black went in.
Ronnie is in a class of his own .
Amazing !!!
Without a doubt the best snooker player I've ever seen in my life.
Was in the front row that day watching a genius at work, Ronnie's the Guvnor 💯🍀🚀
His opponent: Can I exchange my entry ticket with an audience ticket?
They don't call him the Rocket for nothing! absolute legend
Mark King's face is pretty priceless the entire time.
I haven't been randomly recommended a snooker video since 2010
What a gentleman, he's so keen to make sure his opponents are comfortable and chilling in their seats.
5:55 *Awesome & Very Good Choice To Lead The Snooker World*
Jogador excepcionalmente fantástico. Sou fan desse cara.
I think he was going to stop on 140 as an FU to the organisers. Probably, surely knew no 147 prize before asking. Great that the ref asked him to clear up for the fans, and great that Ronnie did it. What a player. No doubting he's the GOAT
What a great game. I can’t wait for every other Snooker game I watch to live up to this exact same expectation
There is more to enjoy then just a 147 yeesh.
Legitimately fun game to watch. Trump is pretty good too
Why am i here, why is this so mesmerizing and how does youtube find these to recomend, always past midnight
Sameeeeeee
Thanks UA-cam, I didn't know I needed to see this, but now I feel happier today.. :)
Greatly edited video! Thanks for your effort!
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
That moment when you just feel like playing a single player game
Not sure how I got here but thank you UA-cam algorithm for allowing me to witness greatness !
Wow! Talk about running a table. Grew up playing Snooker. Much more difficult than regular sized pool tables..lots more green to cover. Well done!
