Tim has an interesting stable of cameras for his initial capture. This is not unlike an audio engineer having a closet full of microphones. Choosing the right camera and lens is our first important step in the image creation process. Sometimes it's the assignment that dictates, but sometimes it's your own artistic choice. Tim sometimes will employ three or four different formats on one subject or session! This MINI EPISODE walks you through his most frequent choices.
Hang with us! We will be addressing the wide variety of art and science topics that are a part of the wonderful world of photographic portraiture.
The questions and requests we receive through the comments on our channel might give us the next video topic, so we look forward to your participation!
We hope you enjoy our new 5-minute, bite-sized episodes we'll be adding to our line up.

Very interesting. Appreciate that you explained the other cameras. I used 35 mm film back when I started my journey but nothing bigger. They always fascinate me though.

Having started with film and spent half of my career shooting it, it will always remain an important part of my work. My reasoning for multi-format is the bigger the film the greater the fidelity.

Ah, the sound of that Hasselblad 553ELX - once the sound of a professional photographer :-) I still have a Hasselblad 2000FC, and film, plus Polaroid. And a darkroom. But I haven't shot film in years.
That Gowlandflex is something. Did'nt Yousuf Karsh use one?

      @@TimKellysMasterPhotoTechniques thank you,
I acquired a nice 9A a bit ago and have had the very early first gen Voigtlander heliar cleaned and the Packard #6 shutter serviced (PC ready). I see some LF portraits on your web/facebook pages, and really like them. I've started to practice with it. I would really like to see a behind the scene video on one of your portrait sessions and work flow with the big studio camera - i did see some vignettes with it in some older videos

    摄影是用光的艺术,在中国翻译“光”可以是“用完”。所以在中国会有很多人调侃:摄影是把钱用完的艺术

"Photography is the art of using light, in Chinese translation "light" can mean "to run out". Therefore, many people in China will ridicule: photography is the art of using up money"
Might be true, but art and memories are highly valued.
