- In this photography vlog, I continue to build a collection of intimate forest scenes encapsulating the characteristics and small details of ferns! With a Nikon D850 and a Sigma 105mm f/2.8 DG HSM Macro Lens on hand, I observe and photograph curling ferns while enjoying the peacefulness of the outdoors.

It wasn't shaping up to be a good day. Then I saw you had posted a video. I love your attitude toward being opened minded about photography. Not getting a great image is nothing to fret about. Just getting out with your camera is a reward in itself.

The Sigma 105mm HSM Macro is a very underrated lens and can still hold its own against modern macros that costs 2 or 3x as much

So nice to see you dancing in the forest again. I love how you just let go and dance. Amazing shots of the ferns and I also can't wait until next spring so you can get out and shoot a herd of elephant ferns. I have never noticed that before until you made that video. Courtney, my kit is very similar to your (an 850 and a 780). I find it useful to engage vintage glass (read economical quality) that restricts my options to force me to see from a forced perspective I wouldn't normally entertain. I have one of the old 35-70 f2.8 D F-mount lenses that brought images in view, from the restriction, that I wouldn't have noticed before.
Very nice. I like the dancing. I am a horrible dancer. Every time I dance someone will call the Paramedics.
