Hi SMT - You got a lot of cool items!!! The O scale 0-8-0 runs on a track that has solid rails like HO track, just that the rails are twice as tall and twice as wide, and 1 & 1/4 inches apart. Ask your dad if he remembers a TV show from around 1979-80 called "Super Train". Super Train was a futuristic passenger train that was wide and ran on its own 10-foot gauge track. Seeing that O scale locomotive running on your HO scale layout made me think of that show! The tubular track with the insulated outside rail could be useful to trigger signals with a plastic track pin on each end of the placed-together insulated sections (once you remount the center rail and insulators). Tyco decorated those trolleys for Nob Hill, Main Street, and Broadway.
@@peterkneissl3358 -Tyco trolleys were offered as a two-unit power and trailer set! I think AHM/IHC also had two-unit trolley sets with a power and trailer set.
@@SMTMainline well from my experience, you can build a layout, you might have to fix the tender's boogies, and you wouldn't be able to have switches, but you could have a backyard layout if enough time is given
The brass 0-8-0 is based on the Indiana Harbor Belt switch engines. You can use Atlas O 2 rail track to run it. This engine was also offered as a plastic kit by Rivarossi and imported by AHM in the late 70s early 80s. Rivarossi also offered a kit to power up the loco which included motor, pickups, metal wheels and a gearbox. Darth Santa Fe made a video of building it. Fun unboxing good luck with everything.
@@SMTMainline I believe you're right, they also made a couple of other steam engines as kits with separate power upgrades. It's hard to find, but AHM also sold sectional track and turn outs in "O" scale. But it was not as good as the Atlas track.
Hi Harrison, I am the Bill Hughes (Jersey Bill) that sent you some locomotives. That box was to be a test box to see if I could trust the two mail systems both here and Canada. What I found out was that shipping to Canada cost more than sipping to the British Isles, go figure. I’m sure if you were to run out you would let us all know and again be inundated with boxes from all over the world. I loved the brass steam loco running on the HO track, good catch, and this ranks up there with the Super Super Chief running on the two tracks in my book. If I remember correctly all but one locomotive ran from the mail unboxings in some capacity and I was surprised. This was my favorite unboxing ever for obvious reasons because It is good to be part of something you have admired for so long so thank you for including me in this installment. Great video, Jersey Bill.
@@JerseyBill-x9r I didn’t make that connection at the time. Yes there is not shortage of projects around here, probably enough to sustain the channel for two years, minus the stuff that already runs well. SO glad you finally have a J Class, i love my Spectrum N scale one, Even though mine is the original 06 release with no DCC. They are GREAT runners, probably some of the best N scale steam engines ever made.
That brass 0-8-0 is an 0-8-0. not a consolidation, it is a brass copy of the Indiana Harbour Belt prototype, they were originally done in a plastic kit in O scale, and were also made by Rivarossi, and were also made in N and HO scale!
Very cool unboxing. A lot of nice trains. I like the gold Union Pacific and consolidation unit. Looks like you're all set on screwdrivers! Thanks again for the mention. That scratch brush has been a pretty popular item. "Elvis would be happy!" That's funny.
The 0-8-0 has been one of my favorite locos since I saw it in an American Flyer catalog over 60 years ago. To see you get that O scale one running was, indeed, one of the coolest things ever on your channel.
Hi Harrison, that brass 0-8-0 looks like an Indiana Harbour Belt switcher. This is a fairly rare thing to see even for sale, and it’s never cheap either. You have got something pretty valuable there. I’ve got one of those, and there’s not much change out of 1k. Rivarossii also made this model in O Gauge, as a kit and RTR..
You could simply make a paper insulator using cardstock or something similar. However, with Gargraves track, all three rails are insulated from each other. It also has a profile that might work better. Probably the reason it kept derailing is because O Scale three rail track doesn't have the tight tolerances of O Scale two rail. Also, in the process of modifying it you may have disturbed the gauge.

Another great unboxing. People are very generous indeed. Gotta say I haven’t heard anyone under forty who knows anything about three on the tree and grind em till you find em! Once while driving a three on the floor farm truck I had someone younger ask me how I knew where the gears were as there was no map on the shift knob and, of course, no tach.
Similar situation at a farm I worked at, we had a column shifter but no way if seeing what gear you were in. It wasn't a problem since everyone knew the truck well enough to know by feel.
The fact that I got to see a brass DC powered o-scale locomotive run on HO Scale Track has got to be the coolest thing I saw on your channel thank you smt
Super. My railroad combines On30, HO, HOn30, models of ride on or ride in scale model trains, and N gauge, depending on how I feel. (Mostly HO standard gauge and N standard gauge equipment.) The N is N standard gauge, HOn30 narrow gauge, and various scale trains, like 7.25 or 7.50 inch scale ride on and 15 inch scale ride in scale models, including my zoo train and amusement park trains. The HO scale track is for HO standard gauge, N wide gauge, and On30 narrow gauge trains. Now I am contemplating two separate tracks for different gauges. 🙂 The Mantua/Tyco Brill trolley, the AHM 2-4-0 "Bowker" steamer, the Athearn Burlington cupola caboose, and the Davenport/Whitcomb 25 ton switcher, as well as the N scale heavyweight observation car, would be more than welcome on my layout. I operate seven of the Proto 2000 SD-7 and SD-9 locomotives, and they run great, inside or outside, and require minimal maintenance. The partially spray painted Tyco wood refrigerator car body would also find a home as I love old school wooden reefer cars. That red shell right before the red Tyco C-630 is a model of a rebuilt GP-7 or GP-9 locomotive that has added air filters and a quad exhaust, and may be worthy to some old school modeler as a GP-7R or GP-9R locomotive. P.S. A 2-8-0 is a Consolidation, an 0-8-0 is an eight wheel switcher, and was the last steam switcher built. (N&W) The O gauge 0-8-0 you acquired is most associated with the Indiana Harbor Belt Railway, or the Norfolk & Western, and the locos with the booster on the front tender truck are rare in any scale, so someone might really like that. (Only one of my 0-8-0s has the booster.) An excellent haul. Hello again from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. 💙 T.E.N.
Hey! That tap set is going to come in handy for body mounting couplers/ replacing talgo trucks, or tapping out friction-fit bolster pin mounts and replacing them with Kadee equipment or whatever you prefer. Depending on who you ask, that set goes for between $16 and $23 (USD) and I'm pretty sure Micro-Mark might even be more. It's an excellent addition to your tool kit.
Wow that's a lot of stuff. Glad to see all of it working for the most part. That brass 0-8-0 is a " yard goat" switcher locomotive. What's great about those proto 2000/1000 is you can buy the wheel set from athearn whether it's a six-wheel drive or 8 as long as you get the nickel silver Wheels they will drop right in to the trucks without any modification or gauging . But to be on the safe side it's good to check. You can do the same with the blue box models because I did it to one of the locomotives that my uncle gave me. It was supposed to be a fP45 loco chassis and shell but it has a model power E7 shell on it . Anyways when I removed the old steel wheels and some of the gears were split so bad a couple broke. I wanted to try and experiment and it worked. The new nickel silver wheels with gears and bearings fitted will work with your blue box diesels. Now I'll have trouble free running.
Very cool, Harrison! That was wild seeing that O scale steamer running on HO track, that was pretty crafty! Oh yeah, and N scale has come a LONG way in a very short time in terms of DCC and sound technology, alot of models nowadays can give HO scale locomotives a run for their money!

The o scale on you HO LAYOUT IS OMG 😲 I THINK YOU JUST STARTED A NEW IDEA 💡 🤔 CAN U SEE IF IT WOULD TAKE THE TURNS ON YOU'RE LAYOUT THAT BE ABSOLUTELY FUNNY 😁
Kitty treats and Harrison treats in the same box.. nice. That Mantua PRR F brought back memories as that was the locomotive that came with my first train set way back when I was 6 or 7 back around 66 67. That oddball one eyed monster F might have been an attempt to replicate a Rock Island wreck rebuild the RI did that they banged the damaged nose back into shape but figured they could get by with the lower headlight and thus had a very odd looking F. That brass O scale isn't a consolidation but going off the booster engine on the lead tender truck is probably a brass version of the Rivarossi Indiana Harbor Belt 0-8-0 switcher. Edit: ok Harrison that O scale on HO rates you as now a certified mad lad.
Three on the tree, Harrison 😂. Christmas in September. Quite the haul having N to G in one show. Sometimes excursion trains do put a caboose at the end nowadays. The Big Boy had one during the West coast trip earlier this year. Still no smoke for the G scale -- bummer. Thanks for sharing. 👍🐾👍
The railway museum in Smiths falls pretty much only uses passenger cars for its trains. They are easy to navigate and people seem find them a lot more interesting than regular passenger cars.

That oddball F Unit with only a lower headlight is based off of a Rock Island F7, number 49 in particular, it actually was missing the upper headlight and housing!
the super chief may have a tiny little centrifugal clutch in the drivetrain somewhere. either that or the little man who lives in there needs to be woken up with a loud noise before he puts the engine in gear.

Nice! 😂 Seems like you were planning well in advance in the past and didn't even know it 😉
It's lucky I went with that gap between the two rails, It's not like that on the other side of the layout.
It's hard to pick the best out of the lot, but my picks would be the brass O Scale steam engine (hope to see it on proper tracks in the future), and the N scale N&W J. I will look forward in seeing these in future videos.
Hey Mitch, fellow (former) Region Rat / Griffith guy here! Always like to see Griffith mentioned!
The o scale on you HO LAYOUT IS OMG 😲 I THINK YOU JUST STARTED A NEW IDEA 💡 🤔 CAN U SEE IF IT WOULD TAKE THE TURNS ON YOU'RE LAYOUT THAT BE ABSOLUTELY FUNNY 😁
that was really cool. O scale on the layout.. the Canadian cars look pretty sweet
Thanks for sharing.
Oh hey I own that same Bachmann Golden Union Pacific locomotive, mine has bad gears and I got it at my local train store for just $15. Also that brown and black LifeLike F unit got stung by a bee lol. Anyway when I get the stuff you will see a package from me eventually
Great video
I'm sure someone has already mentioned this, but incase they haven't, that O-Scale locomotive is likely a Proto48 model, hence the really tiny flanges. Awesome work with your double track keeping the correct Gauge all the way down the straight!
Thank you!
Done well again SMT very smart young man
That O Scale Gold Locomotive on an Ho scale layout was SO BIZARRE!!!!!
611 is one of my top 2 dream n scale engines
At 35:42mn a giant steam locomotive in a Lilliputian world
Thank you Harrison for all of your fantastic videos. You are awesome! Want to share this pun with you. Why can't you trust trains? Because they have loco- motives.😅
I’m preparing to go to Springfield,MO for a train show and it’s close to the BNSF yard
Nice a video about A and B units on my birthday I can watch despite being 7 hours late to watch it
Hi SMT Mainline & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks SMT Mainline & Friends Randy
At 9:15 Harrison that looks like a Illinois Central Railroad Paducah geep. From 1968/69-1980 the IC then ICG would send gp7 and gp9 to Paducah Kentucky for rebuilding the air filter housing on the long hood is one of the spoting features, that design was meant to help keep snow out of the air filter in winter.
Thanks for the info
@@SMTMainline your welcome Harrison, I grew up in Paducah Kentucky with the Illinois Central Railroad until 2005, now days I call Lexington Kentucky home.
That o gauge on the ho layout was just ridiculous lol
The Frankenstein f unit should be nicknamed the one eyed one horned flying purple people eater, since it has only one eye and one horn.😆
That's a good point lol
Fantastic Elvis joke Harrison! 😂😂😂😂👍
Golden Union Pacific is one of my favorites. I own one things a tank freight like snow tomorrow.😊😊
Nice 👍
here's what I think that could have happened to your cracked drive. zinc pest. also I learned that from one of your vids. also keep up the awsome work dude!
I've seen zinc pest on many Bachmann and Rivarossi locomotives but never on a Tyco. I wonder if it does contain any zinc.
I love The Norfolk And Western J Class 4-8-4
there will be the annual model railway show at Sunday, Sept 15th
10 am - 4pm
Mary Winspear Centre
2243 Beacon Avenue, Sidney on Vancouver Island I think you would love it
i got a chuckle out of the letter that says he has watched you grow up on line. funny just because I think it is the same thing I said to ya at Smith Falls. and the fact your still that kid to me . It was really cool meeting you, I was a little star struck maybe, you are growing up to a fine young man, and nice to meet your better side too . Chloe
I guess people who have been around the channel for a while must share your opinions on that. It was great meeting you too after all these years, I wasn't expecting to see you there so I was a little surprised lol
Looking at all those incredible trains makes me wonder how the full train would have looked like that I found (it is still not repaired as I can't get the rusted screws out)
AHM Elko - this was the sound they used for Dark Vader's personal craft...may he RIP
That oddball F Unit with only a lower headlight is based off of a Rock Island F7, number 49 in particular, it actually was missing the upper headlight and housing!
Thanks for sharing.
SMT really pulled a ramahfool with the double track
An interesting note, Z scale, which is smaller than N scale can also have DCC and sound.
WATCHINNG SMT MAINLINE AT 11 PM RAGHHH
Watching smt mainline at 1:28 am
WATCHING SMT MAINLINE AT 8:30 AM

I think I’m watching this at 3:00 AM? I dunno so tired I’m going to bed now 🛌🥱😴💤
Watching this video reminded me of the Cannada Pacific I saw. It was in front of a Union Pacific. It was a odd sight for sure.
Wow. What a great vid this was!
the super chief may have a tiny little centrifugal clutch in the drivetrain somewhere. either that or the little man who lives in there needs to be woken up with a loud noise before he puts the engine in gear.
