Thank you for pointing out the facts. For years I restricted my fats as a Vegan because I listened to these ppl you are talking about. No longer. Keep up the good work and informing us of the truth !! I use your videos to encourage and educate myself. I pass it on to others who are looking for answers about their health.

I adopted a low fat whole food plant based diet about a year ago to address certain health issues including occasional ectopic heart beats.
My overall health improved steadily but the arrhythmias remained and became much more pronounced and prolonged after about 9 months.
I recently came across another Fuhrman video where he mentioned in passing that fats help prevent arrhythmias.
I upped the restricted chia and flax seeds I was eating already and added in walnuts several times a day.
To my amazement the arrhythmias eased off dramatically and have remained so for a number of weeks.

Main cause of disease is overeating, nuts are caloric dense- of course cutting them out may lead to positive results. The Nation of Islam recommends one meal a day for example, here's a clear principle resulting in fewer calories and better health. Granted, nutrition experts don't profit from such guidelines , but they're aren't that many of them out there! So Esselstyn is surely right to forbid nuts to people with heart disease, the majority of them would simply go overboard. (Like he said, you'd find nuts laying around everywhere, right up into their car's glove box.)

To prevent from falling prey to these all invasive, and oftentimes camouflaged, commercial incitatives, clear straight forward and simple guidelines are a must.
That’s like Esselstyn crying out "NO OIL" in a conference. Ambiguity is a slippery slope.

19 enzyme inhibitors found in plant foods, including the specific functions they inhibit:
    1. Protease inhibitors: Found in legumes, cereals, potatoes, and tomatoes. They inhibit proteolytic enzymes such as trypsin and chymotrypsin, which are responsible for protein digestion. (Clemente et al., 2012)
    2. Amylase inhibitors: Present in wheat, barley, rye, and legumes. They inhibit amylase, an enzyme that breaks down starch into simpler sugars. (Feng et al., 1993)
    3. Lipase inhibitors: Found in soybeans, peanuts, and other legumes. They inhibit lipase, an enzyme that breaks down fats into fatty acids and glycerol. (Satouchi et al., 1992)
    4. Phytates: Present in grains, nuts, and legumes. They can inhibit enzymes such as amylase, pepsin (a protease), and trypsin, thus affecting the digestion of carbohydrates and proteins. (Schlemmer et al., 2009)
    5. Polyphenols: Found in fruits, vegetables, tea, and coffee. Some polyphenols can inhibit digestive enzymes such as amylase, lipase, and proteases, influencing the digestion of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. (McDougall et al., 2005)
    6. Saponins: Present in legumes, quinoa, and other plants. They can inhibit proteases such as trypsin and chymotrypsin, affecting protein digestion. (Shimoyamada et al., 1990)
    7. Lectins: Present in legumes, grains, and nightshade vegetables. Some lectins can inhibit various digestive enzymes and interfere with the absorption of nutrients. (Vasconcelos & Oliveira, 2004)
    8. Oxalates: Found in spinach, rhubarb, and other leafy greens. They can inhibit enzymes involved in digestion and mineral absorption, such as lipase and calcium-binding proteins. (Noonan & Savage, 1999)
    9. Tannins: Present in tea, coffee, red wine, and some fruits and nuts. They can inhibit digestive enzymes like amylase, lipase, and proteases, affecting the digestion of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. (Chung et al., 1998)
    10. Cyanogenic glycosides: Found in almonds, cassava, and some fruit seeds. They can release cyanide, which can inhibit cellular enzymes involved in energy production, such as cytochrome oxidase. (Vetter, 2000)
    11. Glucosinolates: Present in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, and kale. Some breakdown products of glucosinolates can inhibit iodine uptake and thyroid peroxidase, an enzyme essential for thyroid hormone synthesis. (Fahey et al., 2001)
    12. Gossypol: Found in cottonseed oil and flour. It can inhibit pepsin and trypsin, enzymes involved in protein digestion. (Gadelha et al., 2014)
    13. Solanine and chaconine: Glycoalkaloids found in potatoes, especially green or sprouted ones. They can inhibit cholinesterase enzymes, which are involved in nerve impulse transmission. (Friedman, 2006)
    14. Nitrates: Present in leafy greens and root vegetables. They can interfere with iodine uptake and thyroid peroxidase, affecting thyroid hormone production. (Hord et al., 2009)
    15. Flavonoids: Found in various fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Some flavonoids can inhibit digestive enzymes like amylase, lipase, and proteases, and influence the absorption of nutrients. (Kim et al., 1998)
    16. Cyclic dipeptides: Found in some mushroom species. They can inhibit alpha-glucosidase, an enzyme that breaks down complex carbohydrates into simpler sugars. (Chen et al., 2013)
    17. Non-protein amino acids: Present in some legumes and seeds, such as mimosine in Leucaena and canavanine in alfalfa. They can interfere with protein synthesis and the function of various enzymes. (Rosenthal, 1991)
    18. Phenolic acids: Found in various plant foods, including fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Some phenolic acids can inhibit digestive enzymes like amylase, lipase, and proteases, affecting the digestion of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. (Karamać et al., 2018)
    19. Phytoestrogens: Present in soybeans, flaxseeds, and other plant foods. Some phytoestrogens can inhibit enzymes involved in hormone metabolism, such as aromatase and 5α-reductase. (Whitten & Patisaul, 2001)

However, cutting out nuts and seeds is necessary for some with a very resistant metabolism. And watch out for the pleasure trap!
