A superb achievement and wonderful production. The timestamps and mileage markers are a great addition and give a great sense of the epic journey ahead. The music, the sunshine, the stunning views and your true Yorkshire grit and determination to keep pushing forwards is transfixing. When you crossed the finish and saw Toni ... I was speechless. I am in awe. Well done my friend.
That was an awesome experience. Congratulations. The scenery absolutely stunning. Your mate was damn lucky to come out of that fall. Great video the music suited it well
He was extremely lucky and I thought the worst. Loch lomond is not for the faint hearted! The scenery especially when your on your own miles from a road is awe inspiring
I'm possibly stating the obvious here but you are aware the way splits in two not far out of Rowardennan where you can take the fire road up high to bypass a lot of the stuff you did. It does meet up again and you still have some pretty brutal terrain but less of it. Respect though, well done, did it 5 or 6 years ago in three days and the memory of Loch Lomond will never leave me. Every time I think about doing it again, Loch Lomond puts me off again 🤣
@@Dirtnhurtcom First time you should do the hard bit so can say you actually did it all but if I return I've nothing to prove so would happily take the ferry and continue on.
Great achievement. I was raised in that area, so I know what a challenge that was and even in Summertime how changeable and unpredictable the weather can be. It can be dangerous even for an experienced and well equipped person. Hope David Bacon recovered well.
Yeah my first attempt was in August and had to bail at Kinlochleven with Mild Hypothermia as its rained so much that day! Luckily this time around the weather was much kinder though below freezing at the finish!
I plan to do west highland way on mountain bike in the end of September. Is 3 days enough to do this? Also do I need a bivvy to sleep in a wild or are there any towns on the way with hostels? I want to do whole from Glasgow to fort William.
I used a Bird zero mk1 hardtail. About 1/3 is hike a Bike so nothing too heavy. I would say that this is easily the hardest bike event i have done and i do a 125mile gravel ride each year. Whe your aim is brilliant i would perhaps choose something less extreme. Coast to coast maybe. Then do this when you're more experienced. Good luck though
Brilliant effort. Well done. I live in North Scotland and have been thinking about it from North to South. What was your descent as it give me an idea of how much climbing is involved. Once again, well done.
This time I did it end of May. Mainly so I could have maximum daylight. We set off around 4.30am and it was light. Earlier means clashing with the Way for race or lambing. The first time I attempted it was in August and it was Monsoon weather!
Hi. Walked it all in sections and in non stop in 42 hours 18 months ago. Have ambition to try and cycle non stop. No expert mtb rider. Looking for any advice I can get. Full suspension or hard tail? Benefits and draw backs. Past my best years any advice from anyone would help.
It's a really tough ask. I'm used to long distance mtb events and it still nearly broke me but it's doable. Train lies but about a third is probably carrying your bike so you need to build the strength to carry 30lb or more for several hours. Loch lomond is brutal on the body. You could catch the ferry instead and skip that part if you wanted to. You need to think about getting enough drink and food. I had car support that meet me at intervals. It's mentally and physically a killer but also so awesome and at least having walked it you know what's to come. I rode it hardtail, bit lighter to carry. Good luck and if you need any more info let me know
@@Dirtnhurtcom thanks. How did you carry bike. On shoulder push or have seen a hook that fits back pack. You have convinced me on hard tail. Walking anfd cycling I found Balmaha to Rowardennan hardest. If I do it will not do the ferry.

Hoping to do this in a few days, having walked it earlier this summer. This video has me motivated!!! Amazing effort!
Best of luck with it mate. You hoping to do it in a day as well?
Superb effort and a great video! I really enjoyed the tunes. Well done.
Thanks. It was your video and strava I studied before both attempts
Dirtnhurt.com ah nice one! Makes me happy to hear that :)
Fab effort; I'm also thinking about it for late summer/early autumn. Need to make the most of the daylight hours and may take a couple of days :D
Good luck. Two days is a great choice to really take in the views which are Fantastic
Just watched it again, respect man, I know how tough it is.
Cheers, yeah it's tough but a great thing to do.

I would gladly ride it all again except Loch lomond. First time I attempted it in 2017 it was torrential rain so even more fun!

What an excellent achievement, well done. I trust David made a full recovery?
He did, remarkably no serious injuries though his bike suffered more!

there are plenty of hostels and camps and hotels along the way. 3 days is a good length,
Well done. I’m a notice biker looking to train and complete this for a mental health charity in May 2024. Can I ask what bike you used?

Amazing terrain. Looks like fun!
Wonderful scenery. The hardest thing I've ever done but also the most best. It's a mental struggle at times!
Awesome ride mate, congrats. I planned to do this myself solo, but I'm not sure that is sensible now!

How many miles is it in total buddy
96 miles but around a third of the time is carrying the bike!
