This is the vlog version of the trip shown in real-time in the last video; I leave Kings Orchard Marina near Lichfield and head north up the Coventry canal to Fradley Junction where it rains a lot and I moor above the locks.

Well 'spoken'! My thoughts exactly!
Completely out of the blue with no prior warning signs, I had a near fatal heart attack in March right before COVID hit. I was life flighted to a nearby hospital, flatlined 6 times with 20 defibs required to revive me. Spent 6 days in ICU and by the end of that time everything had locked down (my wife couldn't even visit me). Then was sent home with meds, O2, and a portable defib unit I had to wear 24/7. But, of course, all rehab and doctor's offices were closed indefinitely at this point, everything closed, things looking pretty hopeless and we were isolated at home. My wife of 47 years is British and we have spent a lot of time in England (particularly up in Penrith and down around Lutterworth area with family) over the years. Many great memories. I started searching around randomly on UA-cam because one of those great memories was a trip we once took on a narrow boat. I found your channel. You really never know when you publish something where it will go, or the effect it will have do you? Through all the above, lying in ICU with tubes stuck in me, and recovering at home locked down, crusing through the English countryside with you has helped get me through. Thank you. I don't know about anyone else but a lot of these videos are starting to sound lot of the old WW2 news reels, I'm not complaining, but when a major incident involves a couple of stroppy swans, it does bring a smile to your face.
And there you stand, Mr CC, steadfastly on the stern deck of your vessel, interacting with nature and the vagarious weather of England; longing for dry clothes and a cuppa. Narrowboating is so perfect. Thanks for sharing; I enjoyed it.

Good to see the lockdown over ,, but please be careful as we have seen here in eastern Canada , the problems facing the U.S. as many states opened up and their cases of the "crony virus " has really spiked and about half are younger people under 45 . We want you cruising , but we want you to be safe !!!!!!!!!!!

Hi from 'down under".. after 13 weeks of mostly lock down I have finally caught you up - all the way from episode 1 - I have THOROUGHLY enjoyed the journey as I have traveled quite a bit of the canals in years gone by.. coming from a television background I really appreciate the good technical and creative product you produce, not to mention the subtle humor in your voice-overs.. I've even noticed here (in a decidedly urban setting in Ontario, Canada) that the flora and fauna have benefitted from human covid isolation. The grass and trees are more lush and small wildlife is venturing out where it isn't as commonly seen anymore. I'm of the opinion that nature needed and got/is getting a well deserved break from us.
Binge watching your vlog has made the pandemic bearable! You have a calm, relaxing voice and we absolutely love the scenery and nature as well as the information and lessons about narrow boating. Thank you!

I imagine it's great being INSIDE the boat when raining, stove going, kettle on hearing the rain bouncing off the roof and watching it drip down the windows whilst you stay warm and dry!

There's something very cozy about the rain, especially when you have your house with you - moor, wet togs off, quick hot shower, housecoat on, kettle on - bliss.

Saying hello to your fellow boaters makes me think of the old days with the horse and cart - People actually had time to chat on the way, life was not so rushed and people cared about each other. Today everyone just wants to rush to wherever they are going (me included) and then rush back again, chasing the wind.

Delighted to see you back cruising...I have been watching all the previous ones these past few months to play catch up. One of my friends and husband are narrow boaters currently moored at Crick Marina and she told me about the channel....by far the best channel for narrow boating for we who do not live in UK.....stay safe, dry and look forward to more videos...
I'm getting worried now, I just chill out watching these things and unless my wife suddenly decides to go off with the postman, it's unlikely I will get a narrow boat to live in anytime soon but .Christ, does it relax me watching it! I half wished we had an attractive postman and I never thought I'd ever say that.

Hi yes as a child we lived in a house with the canal running behind and I found my way onto the canal towpath but promptly chased down the path by a mother swan she scared me to death !

Over the duration of the pandemic I've watched several other narrow boat channels, when you were on lockdown... have to say I'm glad you're back... not sure if it's your camera work or your soothing voice and classic British wit, but you are still my favorite narrowboat vlogger... oh, and, umm... you've got something on your right chin, just there, off to the side...

Yes I was surprised when you said you had met people & gave the impression it was friendly. So is it like Instagram you set up an account & seek out your interests & like minded people? I don't anyone on Twitter except Bargain Hunt & I'd follow them haha I came onto Instagram for the THOWs & vanlife community.

Great Escape indeed, it's Tokyo Drift but with boats, one of the highlights was a family of swans terrorising the towpath for an unsuspecting walkers, and of course the obligatory cuppa at the end of a days Cruise. Freedom at long last he shouts. 😁☔
It's wonderful to see boats out an about again, not sure when the canals up here in Scotland are going to open up, but I'm excited none the less.
Also, 'trick of the camera' is a fine excuse for speeding, I'm sure the authorities bought it.

Tea is a great part of life here as well. Just not in a cup. In tall glasses of ice with lemon and if out doors. A nat swimming in the top of your glass.
It would be lovely to spend a rainy night, snug in bed, while hearing the patter of rain on the roof of the boat. Thunder and lightning would be a bonus. Thanks again for the great video. Makes for great day dreaming!
