Greetings. Can someone explain how these people/farmers/women with such historical knowledge/skill sets ref their land, their livestock, sustainable methods, fiber techniques, etc are being paid and globally acknowledged ref the various yarn lines for which they are actively the foundation? I didn't hear this discussed during the conversation. Thanks.

Darlene, that is such a great question. And I do not want to guess at the answers. I can tell you a couple of things. The mill is Peruvian owned with the mission of keeping the Andean textile traditions alive. We have seen lots of price increases over the years with explanations that wages have been increasing to pay a fair wage - something we were super happy to hear. I will pas your question along and if I get more info I will post it here!

@@handsonknittingcenter1294 Thank you for responding. Collectively, a fair wage/a living wage/opportunities/recognition are very important to me...esp where women are concern....if I am looking to purchase and/or recommend "international" yarn. Thanks again.

@@darlenefarmer5921 you should also look at Manos del Uruguay. They are one of the few Fair Trade yarn companies in the world. And they are a series of Co ops run by women.
