    Love your video. Is there a way to take any chart and turn it into a slip mosaic knit pattern?

    • @handsonknittingcenter1294
      @handsonknittingcenter1294 4 місяці тому

      No all charts will work with Mosaic. You need to think about the motif with 4 rows at a time. When you are working with the C2, you have to have a C1 stitch to slip in order to maintain the lines of the motif. My best recommendation is to chart the motif you want then double the number of rows and add the slip stitches. If you come across a spot that has to have a stitch and does not, see if you can make an adjustment. Also, Barbara Walker has a fabulous book on Mosaic. And her Treasury books all have mosaic motifs. Have fun with it!

    This video has helped me a lot. Even though I have knitted off and on for over 40 years, I still make mistakes and realize I have been doing some things wrong! I looked up the location or your shop and I was so surprised to see that you are in my hometown of Redlands, CA! I grew up there from 1960 to 1975. Graduated from RHS. I moved out of state in the 80's and relocated to UT where I met my husband and we live in North Iowa! My mother passed in January of this year and I wasn't able to get back. It has been since 1990 since I was home. I miss it,, but it isn't the same without the orange groves and the wonderful blossom smells! Thanks for posting knitting help videos

If you make it out this way, come see us! Or connect with online on Wednesdays and Thursdays. You might even find old friends…

    Instead of saying light and dark, you should have said front and back, or MAIN color and contrasting color, etc. Light and dark may be opposite in a different piece.

    • @handsonknittingcenter1294
      @handsonknittingcenter1294 2 роки тому

      Light and Dark are the terms most often used in Brioche knitting and I shot this video to support brioche knitting. So very sorry if it was not a good fir for you.

    • @contactjoy4140
      @contactjoy4140 2 роки тому

      @@handsonknittingcenter1294 Actually, it isn't. Most videos clearly state: MC Main Color and CC Contrasting Color, Color A, Cokir B, etc Just because you refuse to admit it does not make you correct in your instructions. Check other videos of Brioche Knitting, Fair Isle and any styles of knitting which incorporate more than 1 color. BTW, would you say light and dark when you are doing Long Tail or Italian Cast On with only one color? Maybe you would.

    • @handsonknittingcenter1294
      @handsonknittingcenter1294 2 роки тому

      @@contactjoy4140 I have no desire to argue with you. My point was there are many ways of accomplishing things and tons of videos out there. When I teach brioche I follow Nancy Merchant’s style (since she literally wrote the books on brioche) and she refers to light side and dark side. I completely agree with you that the vast majority of knitting refers to either MC/CC or labels the yarn colors A, B, C, etc. I shot this video to support students from our yarn store and used the same language as my class. So my point about it not being a good fit for you was not meant as anything other than it might not be a good fit. Thank you for taking the time to give me feedback to help my videos be better. My goal is simply to make techniques easier to understand. So sorry if I failed you in this one.

      Sally - believe it or not it is the easiest fix within 2 rows of the Yo! If on purl side, just pick up the bar where the st should be and purl it. I need to shoot a video on this! Mollu

    • @sally0404
      @sally0404 2 роки тому

      @@handsonknittingcenter1294 that would be great! I am knitting a baby blanket that has some rows of “one yo followed by 3 knits and pass the last knit stitch over first two and repeat”. This is followed by a row of purls and then repeated in opposite way with “3 knits and pass over followed by one yo and repeat”For some reason after knitting several rows of this alternating pattern I will find myself a few rows above having fewer stitches and it’s almost always the dropped yo. I am a beginner, so even though I can identify where the mistake was made I have a hard time figuring out how to bring the stitch up (whether to pull up purlwise or knitwise. I think this video helped me to understand the ladder more but now I have to put it into the context of my current pattern. Thank you so much for responding! ❤️

    OMG! Thank you! You're explanation of inserting the needle towards yourself just saved me, yet again, from frogging out my entire project. I kept coming across tutorials that have you just rip it and save the stitches, but then I couldn't knit them. They were tight and then I would frog some more. Nice thing is I can keep on using the same needle I've been using instead of finding another smaller needle. Thank you!
