I agree. The intro part of this theme is my favorite part. It has that "you're really far into the game and are probably fucked at this point" feeling to it.
Underrated track. The first two Wily Castle tracks from this game get a lot of love, and those are great, but this one is just as good and is my personal favorite.
this is beyond the greatest man CAPCOM you guys are the best i never knew this would be awesome in 8-bit man i loved the classics so much ppl would agree.
I think most fans of the earlier games agree that Mega Man 9 was as difficult if not more so than some of the earlier games. The challenge was made a bit easier by how fantastically tuned the controls are.
Thats how some babys are, they cried cuz MM8 was too easy now they cry cuz MM9 was too hard and dont even bother to learn the stage. MM will always have cheap death traps.
It seems to me like the Wily stages often follow the visible light spectrum pattern. The 1st is usually partly outside with a red or orange sky (to make it look like dusk). The next stage is usually a dark yellow or green tint (often with water areas), and the one after that will be blue or purple/violet with flickering lights to make it seem like you're closing in on Wily's central control room.
@JokinJoe That's definitely intentional. The boxart of one of the old megamans did look like that. Back then because the guys who made the boxart for america/europe really hadn't a clue about megaman. I guess this is an homage to that.
@ZioIsPwnzor the hardest thing about that game without a doubt (aside from the crappy GBA versions flaws like the horrible cut off and the "command dash") was dynamo man. i personally got used to the rest of the flaws and beat everything in the game but man was it fun. i still think zero 1 and 2 take the cake for being the hardest though
cyrax94 Late comment, but I heard this might've actually been Galaxy Man's theme at one point, and then they decided to replace it and still wanted to use this song somewhere.
@Doom Man, this theme sounds like it would have been too dark for an early stage. If it was really Galaxy Man's theme at one point, I'm glad it was changes.

it really doesnt matter, imo. My sisters are not anywhere close to hardcore gamers, and only one of my 3 sisters own a game system at all, but even the ones who dont play videogames all LOVED the mario games on NES. They just have to be fun. You dont have to be a hardcore gamer to beat a game just because you add a difficulty curve to it. Mario games traditionally just get harder as you progress, and through playing the game you aquire the skill to beat it. You dont have to lame the game.
Everyone talks about the boss for this stage...it was shit easy. It has a pattern that never changes. After you commit it to memory, you can beat him and never even get hit, or at least skim by and only get hit a few times. The bosses before him were way harder. And yellow-green devil is NOTHING. If you want hard, check out the Nightmare Cells from MMX6. Now THOSE were impossible.
Not really. MM1 was a walk in the park MM2 was more bullshit than hard MM3 spoonfed you E-tanks for the entire game MM4's weapons were disgustingly overpowered and the bosses were pathetic MM5 was purposefully low-difficulty MM6 had absurdly strong weapons and the adaptors Dr. Wily's Revenge was easy if you took if slow World 2 was utterly pathetic World 3 was the only hard one World 4 gave you a bunch of tools World 5 was generally easy Forte's challenge was mostly optional CFTF's was very cheesable Gamegear was just MM5 again And the DOS games were mostly trial & error
@@abc_4226I know that. I've used Famitracker for so long. I'm talking about the kind of pulse wave used. He's only using the 15% pulse wave for all tracks other than the noise and triangle.
I totally agree. Sure every once in a while there will be a new hard game but back then, it was tough. Not only were the games harder but we didn't have internet. For a while we didn't really have walkthroughs but later on we got Nintendo Power. Even with that, the games were still kinda hard.
the only thing that was hard about this game was phase 3 of wily and thats because they pulled the same stuff that MM7 did when hes in that stupid ship of his. I have only able to drain half of his life using no energy tanks. the stages were a total cakewalk.

I always liked how the old Mega Man box art had Mega Man holding a gun. HIS FREAKING ARM IS A GUN. Why would he need to use one?
Gunslinging.
Gunshooting.
Shoot up.

Dual wielding
The Wily stages had awesome tracks. This is maybe my favorite of the bunch
I bet more than a few people made Mega Man dance to that while he was floating up the anti-gravity rooms!
This is good stage music for a hard stage.
Why does Wily look like Heihachi with a mask?
Because Capcom decided to be very faithful to the Bad Box Art era of Mega Man.
Still have yet to get past this stage... my patience just goes out the window when I play Mega Man.
I personally like this theme more than We're the Robots (Dr. Wily Stage 2).
I agree. While We're the Robots is a pretty great song, I just prefer this one just a bit more.
we are some of the few
I prefer flash in the dark wily stage 1
