I lied my way into a club when I was 16. I was waiting for the “band” to play while sitting at a table by the stage. The side door opened and the Ramones walked in. Joey Ramone sat down and talked to us for 15 minutes. I loved this guy. Like talking to an old friend you haven’t seen. Their concert ranks as one of the best I’ve ever seen. Miss them so much.
Liz Ant Wow, that's so awesome! I never did get to meet them, but in 86 or 87, I did get a chance to see them live. One of the best live shows I've ever seen - so much fun! The venue wasn't real big, so we were a foot or two away from the band, the energy was incredible and my ears rang all weekend! Wish I could have met them - priceless!
Yeah, I'm pretty sure The Ramones wouldn't have a thing to do with Janis Joplin. The band was formed, in part, to trash the ideals of crap hippie music like that.
The Ramones are as influential on the musicians and music today as the Beatles. Perhaps more so. They never got the kind of recognition or payout as the Beatles did, they got shit on the entire time they were together (by playing power chords and every guitarist or band at the time tried to be VH) but their sound and style lives on in almost every rock band, big or small. They all learned those power chords at home by listening to Ramones records.
No not weird. It was named that in acknowledgement that it was their last and they were breaking up. It was in Spanish because they are very popular in Latin America.
In typical WatchMojo fashion, some professor excretes a data dump of sterile, clinical facts, and some lifeless automaton reads blank words off a copy knowing nothing about what they are reading - All in desperate endeavor of being clicked. But it was so good to hear all these blissfully ancient tidbits about my boys here. my brothers. Whom i've never met. They didn't just change the World, they changed MY World. i miss them so fucking much. But when i listen to their songs, i feel great.
I think the saddest thing (next of course to their passing away)is they never lived long enough to get the fame they deserved or realized their influence and eventual love for the band on a much larger scale. I was fortunate enough to see them at the Hollywood Palladium. One of the very best venues to see them. Wherever you Ramones are ....KEEP ON ROCKIN'.
I had the pleasure of meeting RichieRamone at a hardcore punk club called Propaganda in Lake Worth FL. Real down to earth and cool as hell, signed my own handmade punk jacket in the large back patch white letters RAMONES.
They forgot so much information, such as the fact Dee Dee didn't even play on the last four albums he was credited on. Either that, or I just know too much about them.
Tyler Bonenfant Dee Dee wrote songs for them up until the end. The original plan was to not have him participate in the last concert. He wound up coming out and sing a song
1. I Wanna Be Sedated 2. Blitzkrieg Bop 3. Sheena Is a Punk Rocker 4. Loudmouth 5. Teenage Lobotomy 6. Havana Affair 7. Cretin Hop 8. Pinhead 9. We're a Happy Family 10. Bad Brain Honorable mentions: I Don't Wanna Go Down to the Basement Rockaway Beach I'm Against It Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment Too Tough to Die (their last good song and album.)

Crazy as it sounds, the first time I heard of the Ramones was when I watched that silly cheerleading movie 'Bring It On' the guy in their had a Ramones shirt on and he played guitar. So I listened to them and really liked it.
One of the best Watch mojo videos *ever!* 3 (Was smiling the whole time) But why do people call them "THE Ramones"? Of all the albums of theirs i had over the years, the word the *never* preceded the word Ramones. Which by they way; why no mention of the Paul McCartney-inspired band name?? ): Man, i could have watched about an hour more of stuff on Ramones. Good music, save your soul. \m/
Blitzkrieg Bop is literally one their worst songs, so it makes sense that its the most popular one. They have so many amazing songs you would never know about unless you actually went through their Discography
Jackson Hawk I agree 110%, nobody can ever top The Clash in my book, they are and always will be my favourite band of all time, but The Ramones come very close
The KKK Took My Baby Away is the song, But In The Clip They Played There Playing Chasing The Night But They Over-Dubbed The Clip With The KKK Took My Baby Away
they had specific ideas about how they should sound, what their lyrics would be about, how they would look. david byrne of talking heads has remarked "they were the only band that (he) knew of that had an art directer", which would be arturo vega, who designed their logo, tshirts, and stage backdrops. another artist, john holmstrom, found the ramones to be among the inspirations for his magazine 'punk', and did work for them on the rocket to russia dust sleeve and back cover, as well as the road to ruin front cover. filmmaker jim jarmusch has noted that they, and their ny punk peers, inspired him to the art of film, and that the ramones were as artistic as patti smith or television, in a different, more accessible, way.

LUCKY!
So cool. I wish I could go back in time and watch them play live. 😭
What comes close if you don’t mind me asking? That sounds amazing, and if anything comes close I’m intrigued what it is
@@chickenbiscuitbabyyewww9580 It was a very small venue and their beats were outrageous!
So iconic & influential, yet so underrated imo
@Reverend Elvis P Monroe LHOHQ They didn't get much recognition back then
I've heard the original band is now got back together, because Tommy passed away yesterday. R.I.P. Tommy.
they're all dead
I know that, that's why I said the original band is back together now and playing together in heaven.

Pierre Renoir johnny played barre chords
Kind of weird how their last album was called "Adios Amigos!"
Mikey the Thrash Metalhead The band was going to spilt up anyway so it makes sense
No not weird. It was named that in acknowledgement that it was their last and they were breaking up. It was in Spanish because they are very popular in Latin America.
They are just saying goodbye lol, not weird

Yes, they are with many more artists that were ahead of their time in Rock, will always Live on.

The Clash was influanced by the Ramones
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the Ramones shirts that say "Marky" within the logo rather than "Tommy" are rare.

THEIR ARTISTIC VISION? WHAT?
I'm sure you have an absolutely brilliant band.
they had specific ideas about how they should sound, what their lyrics would be about, how they would look. david byrne of talking heads has remarked "they were the only band that (he) knew of that had an art directer", which would be arturo vega, who designed their logo, tshirts, and stage backdrops. another artist, john holmstrom, found the ramones to be among the inspirations for his magazine 'punk', and did work for them on the rocket to russia dust sleeve and back cover, as well as the road to ruin front cover. filmmaker jim jarmusch has noted that they, and their ny punk peers, inspired him to the art of film, and that the ramones were as artistic as patti smith or television, in a different, more accessible, way.
