I'm in my first year at Langara and this video alone provided me with lots of great info! Thank you so mich, this was so so helpful!!
This is such an informative video!! Thank you so much Sofie for your help!!
Super clear, helpful and detailed
Thanks 😊
thank you for sharing this! so helpful for transfer students. i find that Reddit had better advice than langara counselors sometimes
Yes ! I agree 100%
Really helpful information, thank you :D
Thanks a lot. Very helpful video.
Thank you for information
No problem!
thank you for this! quick question: you touched on this for ubc, but for langara, did you find that it was easy to make it from one side of the campus to the other side if you only have ten minutes between classes?
Yes I found it much easier and never really had trouble getting to class in time at Langara :)
Hi i’m planning on transfer to UBC Arts next year and I was wondering which classes did you take exactly? I’m course planning right now and currently have Psych, soci, asian studies and econ for this semester. I want to take a 5th course for this semester.
Would you be able to share the schedule you had at langara, would be so helpful! thanks!
Just to make sure for the transfer process. If I take Langara College on September 2022 for 2 years program then continue to UBC for the next 2 years, is it possible to enter UBC on September 2024? With 2+2 program, is it still possible to do job internship? Lastly, if you can achive GPA over 3.5 in Langara then it should be "safe" for transfer to UBC? Many thanks 🙂
is this process also applicable to masters degree as well like i am doing POST-BACCALAUREATE DIPLOMAin douglas college can i move to masters in any bc university after a year
If i want to take psychology in ubc should i take only langara psychology courses? Does it matter
Hi there please can you tell how is the kinesiology program of langara college
Hi, I was wondering when you applied for UBC did you put anything down for your second program choice? Or did you only put arts as your first choice? I'm trying to apply for 2nd year and I'm not sure if I should be adding a second program choice because most of the offered programs are science, music, sauder, or fine arts. I feel like by adding a second program choice it'll up my chances of getting in, but at the same time I don't want to actually go into any of those programs, I only want to get into the Arts program.
June Edit: I got in!
I dont fully recall. If theres an option to only put one choice I probably did that.. but if you have to choose two- I think that I would have just put Arts and fine arts as my second because I knew I didn't mee the requirements to apply for another faculty.
Hey! Congrats for getting in as a transfer student! Can we connect over linkedln or instagram ?
Can we also transfer to UBCO? Also which year did you transfer?
What is the tution fees in this college per year for associate degree or how many Canadian dollar they charge per course because I have to complete minimum 78 credits in my program?
Please mam reply it’s urgent for me
THis was so helpful! I'm just wondering if the grades from our January-April semester will also be considered in the admissions process? What I mean is that, when I apply to UBC in January 2022, will my grades from January to April still be considered?
yes it will be considered
yes! They review them at the end :)
Hello, thank you very much! I was wondering, how did you get 30 credits in one year? Did all your courses fit on your schedule?
I actually did a year and plus another semester . Explained at 2:07 !
great
Thanks for watching!
Hello 👋🏼 thank you so much for the video it’s really helpful.
I have a query regarding the transfer process . For example I’ve registered for a 2 year degree program and that too for the January’22 intake . How will i possibly be able to transfer in September’22 intake into UBC in the same year ?
I am so confused please guide me .
email UBC
You wont be able to for the same year.
Thank you for sharing! Do you recommend people transferring at Yr 2 or yr 3? Any differences between them? Best.
I would say year 2 is the most common! There's not a huge difference but if you transfer into year 3 at UBC, most people are in their last years of their degree and are in upper level classes. If you transfer at year 2 you have more time to meet people and take classes/electives outside your degree.
Hi! Are you able to transfer to UBC in the spring semester or are you only able to transfer in September?
Only September!
Hello! Did UBC contact your college directly to get your transcripts or information regarding your studies? Or could you submit them yourself?
I requested them from my colllege to send them directly to the address that UBC provides for their admissions office.
Hi! Thank you so much for your great information. I graduated from Langara as second year student in December. According to your video, I can not apply for January semester in UBC? May I ask, Do you mean I should wait for next year September??
I believe UBC still only does a September intake but that may have changed. You will have to look online for the updated information. you.ubc.ca/applying-ubc/blog/how-to-apply/ubc-application-open/
Hi! what program did you transfer to in arts, and I got a conditional acceptance but do u know when the final acceptance comes out? thanks so much
I transferred into Arts general and then declared my major as Sociology in third year with a minor in education :). I'm not 100% sure for conditional but I believe you will get the final acceptance in late July or Aug if your grades don't drop more than 2%.
@@sofiewong Ah i did psych :) and thanks so much loved the vid!
@@cupcakegirl270 Thanks for watching :D
Damn u cute. Thanks for the info tho, planning to transfer in 2 years
Hi, is the admission gpa you talked about in the video out of 4.33 or 4.0?
4.33
@@lindenhay9972 ok thanks.
Hey I have a question! When it’s the time to start applying for transferring to UBC?
You can find this info at you.ubc.ca/applying-ubc/dates-deadlines/
Hi Sofie! Thank you so much for your video even though it put up three years ago. I believe most of the information are still valid in 2024! May I ask a question? UBC transfer student application deadline is on December. Does it mean when I start at Langara in September, how many semesters should I go through? Some people say in reddit they would take 5 courses in one semester, It's waty too hard for me. Thanks
Hello! It depends which year you are trying to transfer into. I did 4 courses per semester :)
@@sofiewongThanks for the reply! I am planning to start on Sept. 2024 at Langara for a year and apply UBC in Dec 2025 for the 2nd year . It will go through 3 semesters in Langara. Let me know if I am wrong. Thanks again
Hey! Is this possible to tranfer from langara to ubc sauder school of business as an international student??
yes!
Hey, your video is really informative. Can you tell me or make a video about the transfer in master program? I am a master's student at UCW and want to transfer to UBC.
Hi Sabrina! I am looking at the same. Do you have any information about it?
You are so cute and adorable, awesome info
thanks!
Hi I’m planning to join uvic for bsc computer science in january! When and how can i transfer to ubc ? Can i transfer after one semester?
1:36
What English class did you take?? Did you have to take one or two?
I took ENGL 1100 at Langara to get into UBC. You just need two requiurnemnts (one writing and one research) but you also need 6 literature credits to fulfill the arts requirement at UBC.
Hi! I want to major in Computer Science, and CPSC 121 is a requirement for the degree, but my school doesn’t have any exact equivalent to it. However, on the bc transfer guide website when I entered the course from my school it says “Exempt CPSC 121,” does this mean that I don’t have to take CPSC 121 at UBC and it will meet the degree requirement due to the fact that I’d be exempt from it?
yes mate if the website says it yes
@@tammygoyal9334 it doesn’t say it’ll fulfill the degree requirement, they could just be talking about prerequisites exemption or somet
Hi! Im not 100% sure on that, my best gues is that you don't have to take it but I would double check on your degree navigator when you are in UBC or contact your faculty advisor :)
On the BC transfer guide website it states for excemption : "waiving of a prerequisite or required course for students who have proven they have comparable learning. The student may be required to replace the exempted course with an alternate."
Hello do you think transferring from lanagara computer science to ubc computer science is possible? Have you heard of successful cases?
Hi there I'm in my senior year and I was planning on doing the same for post secondary. I was just wondering if you pursued this and how the experience is transferring from Langara to ubc for computer science?
hey did you transfer with UBC-Langara Indigenous Transfer Partnership program or just normal credit transfer. I am asking this because I am an international student at langara and I want to transfer to ubc
Not the Indigenous transfer! Just the regular university transfer.
@@sofiewong i have a question..if i join langara on january... can i transfer to ubc on september?
Excuse me I have a question
Can I go to UBC university and study as a third year student after get associate degree in langara college??
And at the end get bachelor??
I don't want to study 6 years to get bachelor
Yes. The courses should transfer over unless you're going into a different program
Can you get scholarships as a transfer student, or that’s just for freshers going into 100 level
You can for some scholarships !
I have a question! Do you recommend us to take the courses that can get a higher grade in langara even if those courses are not the area of ideal faculty?
I would say it depends if you plan to do grad school. On one hand if you are trying to get into UBC and solely do you undergrad. Then I would suggest doing the easier GPA boosters at Langara to ensure admissions since that is your end goal. However, if you plan to apply to grad school/ masters or any program past your undergrad that is competitive, then having those gpa boosters in UBC might be beneficial. It may be different for each program but some grad school programs only look at your last 60 credits. So if you left all your harder classes to the end your grades may suffer. Another thing to note is some grad programs also only consider your grades in programs within your faculty (ie. not electives) So it just depends on your end goal!
thank you
is transfer guaranteed? if not, do u know how many ppl in langara actually got accepted
No you have to apply and get accepted. Im not sure the exact number!
Do you know anyone who transferred from SFU to UBC sciences?
No sorry!
Hii!
Thankyou for explaining the whole process with so much of clarity.
I had few queries.
1. For how long after completing by Associates Degree, my credits are valid for transfer.
Since I'm planning to work, and get a PR amd after that transfer my credits to UBC.
2. If I start from Jan intake for a 2 year program at Langara. Can I transfer all of my credits (transferable Credits).
Or there might be an issue since I'm starting from Jan intake.
Hi! Thanks so much for watching. You can transfer all your credits from the January intake as long as they translate into a full year into UBC. So if you are doing two years starting in the January intake at Langara you would need to complete the two years and apply for the following September intake. For example, if you started in January 2021 and finished your 2-year program in January 2022, you would be fine to apply for September 2022 into your third year at UBC. In my case, I did 1 full year plus one more semester so that is why when I transferred into second year I lost a semester of credits.
@@sofiewong Thanks for getting back to me and explaining again.
My other query was is there any specific time duration before which we have to apply for the transfer.
Since I'm planning for get my PR first and then transfer to UBC.
@@ishankundu5602 I think some courses expire after 5 years but I would double-check because it depends on what the courses are and I'm not 100% sure!
@@sofiewong Hi!!! I have question on your reply. You are saying that after finish the langara 2 years program in January, we can apply the transfer for UBC in September. Then the credit in the Langara is valid during the 7 months?
I have a gpa of 4.0 / 4.0 in the United States (31 credits) , applying for bachelor of science at UBCO, no personal profile required. What are my chances?
Im not too sure I would keep up with the ubc reddit thread for this year. It changes every year depending on who applies and such.
A- / A / A+ is enough ?
Depends on your faculty but for Arts I would say A- is enough!
@@sofiewongfor business any idea, I am domestic students by the way
Is UBC truly worth it over SFU or did UBC offer a program SFU didn't in your case? I'm debating on SFU Science vs UBC. SFU is closer and my credits transfer over 1:1 perfectly.
Did you go to UBC over SFU for the clout? Cause im def thinking of it.
I can't speak for SFU necessarily. However, I preferred the campus environment of UBC over SFU. I think it really depends on the program you are transferring into as well as what you are hoping to get out of your time during post-secondary. I think that UBC really provides a great campus lifestyle and an abundance of resources for their students and it's just a beautiful place to spend your time as well!
