So basically, when i play something small like a nes game or a indie game, it never seems to go past 5-6 hrs on a single charge. I see people being able to get 8-9 hours. I lower the tdp, gpu, and framerate and nothing seems to work. I checked the battery health too and it's 100%. Is something wrong with it? I have the OLED model
@SteamDeckExplained i have it in the middle for the brightness. I was told the tdp can help the battery last longer. I see people being able to get longer battery with lower power games both emulated and on steam, but my battery is always around 6 hours max. Even at the home menu
you're very welcome! I would go back and check the battery health every week or two (for the first month) and while it is at different battery percentages. just so you know it's fully calibrated. but so far so good! congrats on the refurbished Steam Deck! which game(s) have you been playing on it first?
Quick question: How many % does the battery lose per month while in Battery Storage Mode and how long can the Deck stay in that mode without being charged and without taking any damages?
That's probably normal Keep an eye on it, though If you could, please remember to subscribe to the channel. I'm getting close to 1,000 subs and that will really help to motivate me into making more videos
Naa, but it is something you should keep an eye on. If it keeps dropping at that rate, I would begin to worry. Check it again in a few weeks If you could, please remember to subscribe to the channel. I'm getting close to 1,000 subs and that will really help to motivate me into making more videos
I brought mine oled version a month ago, battery goes down to 5% before charging several times, and never calibrate it then i see this video and check mine it was 99% health its that good? Or do i still need to restart and calibrate it?
that's a great battery health level to be at after that time period. do you consider yourself to be rough with the battery (letting it drop to 0% often?)
that definitely doesn't sound normal! let me check to see if there's a way to calibrate the battery if not, then you may want to look into getting that battery replaced
Thanks for the video. I just checked today. I got my Steam Deck on February and the battery health Is still at 100%.
That's awesome!

How bright do you have the screen? I don't see how lowering the TDP will help with low power stuff like NES emulation

@SteamDeckExplained it looks like just turning off the tdp limit helped it go up to 7-8 hours, which is much much better. Thank you!
@@jeriahrosen101 you're very welcome!

@@misklujacy6117 but battery percentage is different than battery health
@@SteamDeckExplained ah alr
@@misklujacy6117 happy to help
My SD battery suddenly changed from 99 to 97 per cent in one day. Glad to know it's normal.
Let us know if it has a dramatic swing, though
Quick question: How many % does the battery lose per month while in Battery Storage Mode and how long can the Deck stay in that mode without being charged and without taking any damages?
I've read that battery storage mode can really make it last a long time (weeks to months)
I just got a used steam deck. It said 97% in the morning and now says 96% after i charged it with a 120w charger. Is it affecting my battery :(
That's probably normal

Is it normal that the white power LED starts to blink a few times after I enabled the storage mode?
Shortly before switching off I mean.
I think so
My battery is 98 yesterday was 100 is that problem?

id say anything under 80 capacity it should get a battery replacement if you use it without plugging it in often
That's not a big threshold at all (in my opinion)
@@SteamDeckExplained eh it’s a lot in my iphone 12 mini it dies in about 2-3 hours on screen use but it never did have that great of a battery
Mine sits anywhere between 86-90% after about two years.

@@SteamDeckExplained Not really, i try to not let it dip below 20%. I do have it hooked up to the wall while using it for a long time at home though.
@@simsdas4how many watts?
Thank god, mine's at 100%. I use to let my SD battery drain to 0 coz I barely use it for some time.
yea, I've left mine sit for a week or two at a time and come back with it at 0% and have worried that will damage it
Battery life is 80%, but it drains super fast when Playing Black Myth Wukong.. like it went from 100% to like 30% in less than 10 mins

My battery lasts about 2 hrs 15 mins ? from 100 percent to 0. Yours sounds like there's something wrong with it
Mine is a year old and is at 99% health.
That's a great result! Congrats mate
