I kinda just want to wait for a sale. I am a FE fan that loves P5 dearly, but I don't know how I feel about buying a 70$ spinoff, especially because I know my ass is buying the DLC for Sumi and Akechi. Side question: are either of the party members accessible in the main campaign?
Nah, I like Persona and all but the spin offs are rarely of a good quality enough for me to play them as a story gamer so I just stick to the main series.
If you liked how P5Tactica played, I get the FEELING you’d like Valkyria Chronicles; it’s similar gameplay-wise in many ways, just without the grids. As a person who PLAYED VC, the main game of P5Tactica kinda grew repetitive faster than you it seems, which made the freshness of the dlc hit ME more than you (at least that’s my guess).
honestly I know people are tired of persona 5 spinoffs but I'd rather they give us a bunch of fun spinoffs so persona 6 has the most development time possible so it can really blow us away
I don’t. I’d rather get another mainline SMT game. We just had the 30th anniversary and didn’t get anything for it. It’s cool to not be tired of persona 5, but me personally I’m really hoping to be done now. And I notice myself becoming more of a bitter SMT elitist the more and more P5 there is
@itsallenwow Same. I think since the release of Persona 5 Royal is where my interest towards Persona 5 went from fatigue to hate. Mainly due to the overwhelming amount of non-stop persona 5 spin-offs
I think my favorite part about this game is that no one character is insanely over powered, there's reasons to change up your party in my experience which is really cool to see in a game with this many characters. I enjoyed Tactica a lot more than I thought I would, I think I would be OK if it was the last Persona 5 spin off. (It wont be though cause Atlus likes money). Great video bestie keep up the great work!
Minor correction: There actually is exactly enough GP to completely max out everybody's skill trees. If you complete all the quests, talk episodes and reach level 99, you'll have exactly the required number of points to learn all the skills. Other than that, great review; I enjoyed this game more than I thought I would.
This game is somehow both surprisingly great and disappointing at the same time. I really really wish the game could be expanded on, but that's probably asking too much of a spin off. I'd also like to mention the animations in the cutscenes look almost uncannily clean. The persona fusion animation in particular is one of my favorites.
It's nice to see that you warmed up to the game after being bored by it in the Livestream lol. Me personally am just not in the mood to play another P5 game, especially since I'm not a fan of Tactical RPGs.
I found it funny that P5T continues the trend set in Strikers where my favourite characters (Ryuji and Makoto) are kinda trash, but Yusuke and Haru are both absolute godless monsters.
You can spec both Makoto and Ryuji to shine quite a bit with Melee knock back builds, or being more tanky than the others. I think Ann and Yusuke are the best Nukes though with Agidyne and Bufudyne respectively. Haru's low mobility kinda hurts even if she is a melee/gun powerhouse with built in hypnosis tech. What wierded me out is some of the ultimate attacks are worthless, while others are broken, kinda wierd.
@@sherrdreamz7232 tbh I've not found Haru's movement a problem. It's so easy to set up 1-Mores for her and give extra moves, and once she gets going she can just go on a rampage and wipe the map single-handedly, or at least maul it so much that the rest of the team can easily mop up. Agreed on the special attacks though, Joker's and Erina's are the only semi-decent ones imo.
@@sherrdreamz7232 Not at all. Haru's movement issues can be negated by the inclusion of Yusuke, as well as giving her ranged passives. She can hit things basically half the arena away from her. Even her gun is really good. She's almost as broken as Yusuke.
As a person who beat the game and it’s dlc, it’s a solid Valkyria chronicles-like in terms of gameplay with a P5 coat of paint. Story wise it’s meh, very basic for the most part, but it has one or two good moments. I’d probably say it’s a 7.5/10 at most…BUT it has a dlc story mode that’s about 3-4 hours, and it was SURPRISINGLY good for how short it was, which opens my mind to the idea of shorter persona spin-offs or side stories🤔 8/10 from me for the dlc.
I'll be finishing P5 and Strikers before considering picking this up. That said, given how much I love tactical games like the classic Fire Emblems... well, I hope I get to it eventually.
I'm kinda glad P5T goes the Q route in being technically canon (I assume) but not in a way that actually matters for continuity. It means I don't have to worry about rushing to play another P5 spinoff in a genre I don't really play and can wait until I finish the other spinoffs I haven't played yet (and other games too of course) without worrying about not being up to date on the P5 story. Though the game seems fun, the semi-canon Persona spinoff formula (if you can call it a formula) is getting a bit dull by now. I'll probably wait until after I finish Reload to give it a shot.
Between Reload, Vengeance, Metaphor ReFantazio later in the year, and just my massive backlog, I don't know when I'll get to P5T, but it's definitely something I want to check out. It being on Game Pass--or rather, it eventually leaving Game Pass--might be what I need to get around to it.
6:20 I noticed that about all the Persona 5 titles after the original came out, not just this one. They advertise a new waifu (Kasumi, Hikari , Sophia, Erina) only for the plot to really be about a more interesting character (Maruki, Nagi, Ichinose, Toshiro).
I’m mixed on the game, I found the beginning boring in terms of gameplay and story. Then it really picked up in area 2 with follow up attacks then area 3 was a bit dull and then I hated the final area
I pre-ordered P5T because I was really excited for it. I only stopped playing because my Switch started dying and sent it to be fixed. Unfortunately, I feel like everyone disinterested in the game won't play it because they were already disinterested for one reason or another. Besides, Reload exists. Here, what I noticed about the game and its story by extension, is that it feels like a game that was NOT meant to be a Persona (5) game, but rather a game that was then made to be a P5 game. Various aesthetics seemed to stray from what was traditionally P5. Not to mention that the P5 cast does end up feeling like they're just there. This is the same with the DLC's story. Speaking of the DLC, I don't like that Akechi and Kasumi are NG+ only. Definitely should've been an extra story after beating the main game at that point.
get it on sale. not because it's bad, but because it's overpriced beyond parody. edit: I give persona Q1/2 a little slack on the writing, they did have to juggle a literal army of characters.
I guess they wanna have an answer to Fire Emblem?! I’m actually a huge fan of SRPGs so this may be right up my alley.. Strange people would complain as though there’s something wrong with the P5 cast not to mention trying something different
@@petergriscom3431 Because mainline Persona games take a long fuckin time to make. Also, the games being experimental with each spin off keeps them fresh. Also, it's nice to have nice things. I don't understand people who "get tired" of these things and then turn around to buy Mario for the 50th time.
@@tbnwontpop8857 Experimentation is good, but they keep doing the same thing with the plot over and over again. Even with Tactica people are wondering if it was originally going to be a new IP before getting the Persona spinoff treatment.
With Gamepass and the Repaint your Heart DLC it’s awesome for $20. It’s almost built for remote play. Yes I’d prefer more for $60+ and there’s design directions I wish they took, the core gameplay hooked me and brought me back to my Band of Bugs days. We just need custom maps and maybe a Strikers Sophia/Zenkichi character DLC.
It's a good game but the content is short. It took me less than 40 hours to beat the game and there's day 1 DLC. This is definitely a game to buy when it's on sale, but not something I'd recommend for full price. I played through Xbox Game Pass.
40 houers does not sound short to me. My favorite JRPG is just 20 houers long. Although that one costs just 40€ in the Nintendo Eshop. Still 40 houers sounds like a solid amount of content. I have not really payed attention how long it took me to beat it but it did not feel to short.
I I don't like Persona 5 that much but I fucking loved Persona 5 tactica 100% worth buying, If you think it's too expensive, buy xbox game pass, you can beat it in 3 weeks or less
Doesn't sound like Tactica sold that well from what we know. I'm hoping that won't effect the chances for a future Tactica game. The game does feel pretty low budget so maybe they weren't expecting it to sell that well
For me, it's ok. But im kinda disappointed it wasn't devil survivor 3. It feels like with P5T, it's the last nail in the coffin for any hopes of that happening
The tactics gameplay in P5T is a lot better than Devil Survivor, which is pretty much a Tactics game in name only. Story is more interesting in DS though
I vastly preferred Devil Survivor 1 and 2 in every way. I kinda like a more somber tone with high stakes, over the typical shounen/JRPG hijinks. That might be down to taste though. The Monster and character builds were also far more dynamic and interesting. The combat also always kept you guessing whether you were going to decimate the enemy or get decimated due to a mix of luck and tactics from one battle to another.
Thank god for online guides, I have no idea how you are supposed to figure out some of the quests, especially the 1 turn ones on your own. I especially hated Quest 12 took me forever to find the right combination of personas on fox to 2 round the enemy that just refused to get caught up in the triangle attack.
Honestly, after hearing your view on this game i can compare this game to borderlands 3, A game that was fine tuned to be a better experience from it's prior games and it's best seller 2. But narratively falls flat, but the gun-play and how fun the gameplay itself can be is what makes these games a hard sell, as if you want both, you can't get it, if you're a gameplay guru you'll get something for your buck, but when the story is what attracts me and others it's annoying to have a game where because it *feels* like a whole heep of nothing we just speedrun the dialogue to get to the gameplay again. I have played borderlands 3 alot, but even still idk if I'd play tactica, but considering I haven't touched strikers I guess I'll start on a lower p5 spin-off end to a higher one. Also on the dlc note I do genuinely think it sucks, but as you said if it's starkly different from the main story and adds splatoon elements to it, then it makes sense to be different. but since this is non-spoiler view. I can't really gauge whether it's worth anything, like idek if I can play the 2 outside the dlc.
As someone who didn't really vibe well with the original Persona 5, I am highly impressed with this game. IMO this is one of the best Strategy RPGs in a long time, if not the new Goat. The map design and how you active switches to open doors and trigger elevators is very intriguing. This is very different from Fire Emblem or even XCOM, but I absolutely have been addicted to this game. I'm just about to beat it, so no spoilers please. And the music pushes this to becoming a 10/10 for me.
At least it sounds like the DLC has a unique gimmick that makes it more worth the asking price. I for one am so sick of The Royal Trio being in everything ever, and I wish the characters would stay as they are at the end of Royal.
I already preordered day 1 for the Southeast Asia Collector's Edition, but i have to play it yet, only tested the game. I'm just finishing up the last 2 months in p5r.
I liked the story and how toshiro was built up throughout, but I guess this is my first time experiencing this sort of trope story and I'll get sick of it fast.
every quest involving yusuke is stupid. it's always him going "i wanna experience being brainwashed again" or "i wanna know what it's like to fall off a building". why? .... for art i guess?
Tactica definitely has the worst version of Yusuke and he's the closest in this cast that falls into the flanderization trap. Though I'd be lying if I said I didn't find those quests charming in a way.
So you’re a fan of tactical rpg’s huh? Have you ever played Marvel’s Midnight suns? If you did, what did you think? Personally I thought it was way better than it had any right to be and it had much better writing and characterization than your average superhero game (and I know this is part of one of the game’s dlc stories but Midnight Suns has like…the best adaptation of Venom/Eddie Brock in recent memory because he’s just straight out of the comics)
To the point about the narrative - I found the dialogue to be so egregiously boring and pointless that 5 minutes in I turned on fast forward and never turned it off. I have almost no idea what this games story is but I enjoy the game thoroughly for the tactics gameplay. I feel like this game could have easily just been non-stop driven, like a series of Tetris puzzles and I would have had more fun because I'm not waiting for the pointless dialogue to finish so I can play the damn game.
No. I've been spoiled for a higher class of tactics games. It's a PC, CRPG game from the 90s so that a hard log of shit that cannot be bested today. game is Jagged Alliance 2.
My biggest gripe about the game, is that it's too easy, even on the higher difficulties. I am not even that experienced with Tactical games - only Fire Emblem Shadows of Valentia and South Park: The Fractured but Whole, it just didn't really have a challenge and feels like a beginners Tactical game. Also the fusions didn't do that much for me, I just went with whatever had the best stats with only slight accounting for my party - ie bruisers for party members like Haru - and everything worked out fine. It's not terrible - still prefer Strikers as the Best spinoff - but it is not particularly great.
I gotta be honest… I didn’t like tactica. I felt like it was cheap. The music felt bland, some of the va’s felt off, no dungeon crawling sucks, and I just enjoyed strikers a lot more.
I would say yes, if you want to the timeline this game takes place, it is between the p5r and before striker takes place, because the metaverse is already destroyed in this timeline, the myster in this game why is the metaverse is active if they already destroy it and who is behind this metaverse, and why this metaverse effect the phantom thief different mostly thee power of the wild card this are the mystery the phantom thief is solving.
Hey, Nam. One of the most prominent channels in the MegaTen community, BuffMaister, was hacked and terminated yesterday. I hope you can help get his channel back online.
I have one major problem of this game and it’s the simple fact there’s no exploring like how you do in p5 and I mean in palaces.even p5s had it and for it to not be in here feels trash especially to me it feels like a core of persona
Nope. Sorry, I can't stand the chibi art style. I could get over it in the field but even character portraits are like that. I hate chibi with passion. A shame as I like tactical rpgs.
I'm rather annoyed that the party is only 3 strong instead of 4 now. But yeah I dont much like the silly art style or the new characters... also... "mah-ree-eh"? Really?... Marie. So dumb
i beat personal 5 royla 975/1000 gamerscore, only missed 2 small achievements but i wont play that long draggy game all over just to get 2 small achievements with that said, tactics wise, i rather play valkyria chronicles 4, mario rabbids 1 and 2, or even mutant road to eden with the trenchcoat duck persona wise, i rather play strikers
The Persona 5 characters are as popular as Mario,Sonic,Snake,Kratos ect… Removing them and going for new characters in P6 would be a huge mistake. P6 might be a good game when it’s released, but it’s not ever going to be as memorable as “P5 Royale” and it’s spin-offs.
Garbage story, annoying locks with the turn based system. Irksome reverse tone highlight with dialogue choices. Said dialogue takes itself too serious at the hollowest of payoffs n buildups. You know when an anime does the stupid determination friendship never givenup segment for 5minutes straight....thats 50% of the dialogue. Dear god does this game do the whole friendship determination spiel waaaaaaay too damn much. I felt like this was the latest rachet n clank with how hard they shove the powet of friendship and quirky coincidences down your throat. I'd be waaaaay less angry if the stupid turn system let you HIT START- AND RETRY (PAUSE OR ANYTHING) during the enemy turn. For fck sake if one of your characters get snuffed you cant even hit retry immediately- you have to select another, do the transition animation and if you beg nice - THEN yhe game lets you have your damn pause button back. The loadscreen is choppy and I just chauk that up to everything made on the unreal engine after 2015 at this point. If you can suffer the hiccups and the corny one note jokes which none have anything to relate to the previous game (really sad tbh) then you can enjoy Phantom of the Kill on PS4 with persona 5 avatars. For those of you who don't know phantom of the kill, or any old school gundam turnbase- ya missed out. I will say this tho- since the art style is eh...not distracting for reasons I wont get into- I definitely was required to focus for the rewards. Like, both hands and no dreaming of Heartswitch allowed or you die- that's perfect run Merciless mode. Ngl I kiiiinda regret paying 80ish for this but I won't even try to deny I've wanted to play one of the dreaded spinoff types forever- its not THAT bad but its just not amazing either. I'd give it a 5 out of 10. Maybe a 6.

I appreciate not having to constantly using Joker in my party. Gives the other characters a chance to shine.
I wasnt crazy about the game but I found the ending really beautiful
At least it sounds like the DLC has a unique gimmick that makes it more worth the asking price. I for one am so sick of The Royal Trio being in everything ever, and I wish the characters would stay as they are at the end of Royal.
Great game, I played it on Gamepass
I need to say how much the dlc mixes up the gameplay and has lotus juice writing all the music for said dlc!
Artist? More like. Fartist lmao
Tactica definitely has the worst version of Yusuke and he's the closest in this cast that falls into the flanderization trap. Though I'd be lying if I said I didn't find those quests charming in a way.
So Yusuke is Yusuke? Fun.
ATLUS milks P5 like Square milks FF
Thid game reminded me of how bad I suck at strategy RPGs.
12:15 herrrrr... Yes it is?
I gotta be honest… I didn’t like tactica. I felt like it was cheap. The music felt bland, some of the va’s felt off, no dungeon crawling sucks, and I just enjoyed strikers a lot more.
Considering I'm almost finished with persona q2, I think I'll wait on tactica, lol
I dont need to see the whole video. I played it and see the thumbnail?
It is worth
Amazing video!
Great review Nam 🔥🔥
The game is good but its no full price day 1 dlc good
I'm buying this just for the art style to be frank
I really liked the game the only problems I had with it was that Sumire was dlc and the story was mid overal
2:30 You spelled Best Girl wrong.
Keep up the great work bro ❤
Why is Haru even bustier than Ann?
I would say yes, if you want to the timeline this game takes place, it is between the p5r and before striker takes place, because the metaverse is already destroyed in this timeline, the myster in this game why is the metaverse is active if they already destroy it and who is behind this metaverse, and why this metaverse effect the phantom thief different mostly thee power of the wild card this are the mystery the phantom thief is solving.
Thank you
Still waiting for a price sale
It's a solid gamepass title, but 50 or 60 bucks is a bit much for it.
I liked him n the game was fine, its alright.
Does DLC worth 14 bucks. I got the game from gamepass
Hey Alright!
Nope. Sorry, I can't stand the chibi art style. I could get over it in the field but even character portraits are like that. I hate chibi with passion. A shame as I like tactical rpgs.
Saying there's a twist is a spoiler genius.
I didn’t love strikers, but I’m having a really good time with this one!
It may be the weakest P5 story, but they're far from "one-note" characters.
Love your vids bro
Id buy the game if it was like $30
Looks like they too focused on milking persona 5 dry instead of working on persona 6
I'm rather annoyed that the party is only 3 strong instead of 4 now. But yeah I dont much like the silly art style or the new characters... also... "mah-ree-eh"? Really?... Marie. So dumb
Couldn't get more than 2 or 3 hours into it. A big no thank you from me, and I love tactical rpgs.
i beat personal 5 royla 975/1000 gamerscore, only missed 2 small achievements but i wont play that long draggy game all over just to get 2 small achievements
with that said, tactics wise, i rather play valkyria chronicles 4, mario rabbids 1 and 2, or even mutant road to eden with the trenchcoat duck
persona wise, i rather play strikers
Nam's Persona videos >>>
just play it w gamepass its amazing
“Should you buy tactica?”
Just play on gamepass
Great comment here
@@itsallenwow its not worth the full price 20-30$ game at best
really fun game but no worth $60 its a $30 at best
Oversaturation or not, I’d rather have new games than not.
Agree
should you play p5 tacDICKa 😂🎉
Short answer: No.
@@ChiefMedicPururu respectfully disagree
This game is like my son, a total disappointment.
Did you just mention p5s in a positive way? 🤢🤢🤢
Sorry but these characters look gross and it feels like a rip off of the original game
The Persona 5 characters are as popular as Mario,Sonic,Snake,Kratos ect…
Removing them and going for new characters in P6 would be a huge mistake. P6 might be a good game when it’s released, but it’s not ever going to be as memorable as “P5 Royale” and it’s spin-offs.
I played the game for 2 hours got incredibly bored and uninstalled. The game is below mid
Different strokes for diff folks
So you got a review code, and it still took you this long to make this video? Seems like Atlus is wasting their time.
Why does it matter how long it takes him to upload
Maybe a 6.
Japanese stuff is just unbearable.
Diddn't you already talk about this game on your other channel, Nyarly? Seriously you both are the same person.
