I feel bad for the bus- teenager! 😢
He wants to go to university, but didn't even go to high school.
The dad wants his kids to learn & was quite shocked that his son couldn't count.
But the mother wants to be a "Free Spirit" she is so selfish & irresponsible.
She is not even concerned that her kids can't write & read.
Does she want them to depend on her their whole life?

I don’t believe she wants her children to be entirely dependent on her as they gradually reach adulthood. She seems delusional to me. The way she spoke of how anything can be learned, I truly believe she thinks her children will naturally figure out what they want to do in life almost entirely on their own. All she wants to do is support their independent choices with her limited capabilities. It’s a truly unfortunate circumstance.

I think perhaps Angeline felt overwhelmed and ganged up on but it was very alarming nonetheless. Her kids deserve to learn the fundamentals and she's doing them an absolute disservice not teaching them how to read or write or basic math. Tennile was much more open minded than I expected her to be, but I do think she could stand to let her kids be more independent and have hobbies that are their own. Angeline was so one track minded about "unschooling" that she refused to admit her kids might actually want some aspects of schooling. I also think she's selfish about the nomadic lifestyle and refused to admit that it's HER forcing the kids to go along with it instead of a "democracy". Just subtle manipulation.

Of course they do, their instincts kick in that something is terribly wrong here. If she continues like that, her own kids might deny her in the future. They can hold a lot of resentment for taking so many things away from them. And no, kids cannot do as they want, this just leads to disaster. Democracy is just a sad excuse of lazy parenting. This will just turn all boomerang on her in the future, if she refuses to change.

ikr?? depriving ur children of basic education is just evil and is setting ur kids up for failure. if she didnt want them in the school system she couldve easily signed them up for an online homeschooling thing. i say that option bcuz i doubt she would be able to properly homeschool them herself and tutors are expensive and they dont have a lot of income. so best option is online homeschooling!! it also gives her kids the chance to move up faster than a public school in their education and then once they finish they will have all the time in the world to study any of their passions.

School system are usually tailored to a narrow intellect set, so she may have gotten bad grades, or not passed, but have the social skills needed to survive in trades, which school systems aren't exactly geared towards. Education is about brain development just as much as what you actually learn. Her kids aren't going to develop the ability to learn with absolutely no structure or discipline. There's not a single person in their profession of choice who didn't do things they didn't want to do to get there. I think that she feels bc she failed it was bc of the school system, but it was actually bc of her parents teaching her that the stystem is more than what it is, it's a tool to help you get somewhere, not a system that promises something.

But they're not actually doing anything at all! I normally love watching these shows, but this one wasn't enjoyable at all because it was so sad. When your child says when he grows up he wants to collect cans for money, how does that not break your heart?? At least if she was teaching something at all, like homesteading... farming, anything where they're learning something, it would have made me feel better. I can't believe the show even agreed to this honestly. It's abuse by neglect. And to bring in 8 kids into this?? The mom has coached the kidsso much to say they hate school too. It's to the point where they know they are hurting mom if they say anything pro school. It's devastating. The kids need a go fund me.

I thought I was going to hate Tanelle, but she was absolutely amazing. She genuinely cared for the kids and had actual conversations with everyone and listened and heard them. She did not try and discredit hippy moms choices but through talk opened the children's eyes to other possibilities. She is a real gem and I think the phrase " behind every successful man, is a strong woman" was invented for people like her. In the few days she already managed to motivated and steer hippie dad a step forward in the way of success. She did jobs I thought she would have not done, she braced it and did what she had to do. She walks the talk and talks the walk. She remained respectful, calm and composed even when hippie mom went outof her way to be rude and impossible. The welcomes back at their respective home says it all. Hippies mom is a narcissist, she is all for democracy when she is getting her way- her poor poor family..

No fr, like I can understand what the hippie mom meant about school, but school is meant to build minds and futures too. And although most famous people didn't need a high school diploma to succeed in life, it's easier than going for your GED and not having any type of education to help study for it. Also, the living conditions, she's a democrat so ik she's prochoice, so why would you choose to have 5-6 kids (not rlly counting) knowing you wouldn't be able to provide a good living environment for them? i understand if its money wise, but it just seems like they want to do the least possible not only for themselves but for their kids too. like absolutely none of her kids have any privacy and neither does she, and that's the most important thing to consider when having kids too. And the washing machine?? that's sooo disgusting to just wash yours and your children's clothes in DIRTY water, like bffr girl what is that cleaning? at the end of the day its not about being conservative or democratic, we saw a very loving and nurturing mother who wants the best for all kids involved, and then we have the one who only really thinks about herself and not her children and what they would need. praying those kids get out of there and never speak to that witch again fr

I love Tanelle! She’s so awesome. It kinda shows how wrong first impressions can be, I bet a lot of people thought she’d be stuck up and all that, but she’s so outgoing, warm and genuine! I love how she tried to get to know all the kids and didn’t try to force her ways on anyone, but instead just show them there are different paths to follow. She wasn’t judgmental. You can see she’s very intelligent, especially emotionally. Instead of just expecting everyone to adjust to her mindset, she tries to understand.

what really struck to me was what angaline said to her husband as soon as they reunited. "I was worried that you wouldn't want me back." like, why on earth would someone say that after being away from their spouse for like 2 weeks. this just shows that angaline is literally oozing with insecurity. tanille is living the life she always thought she wanted for herself but she never got that life so she settled for the complete opposite, convincing herself that this is what she wanted all along. but deep down you can tell that this attitude she has about life is a way to cope with the feelings of jealousy and inferiority she feels towards women like tanille. And knowing that tanille was living with her husband for the past 2 weeks was so difficult for her to stomach because she thought her husband would be more impressed with tanille after spending time with her. hence why she had such a nasty attitude during the meeting at the end. clearly angaline had some nasty experiences in highschool growing up but instead of trying to get through those issues and healing and moving on, she's letting 8 of her kids suffer one of the worst kinds of fates - a future with nothing for them - all because of her insecurity.

Angeline constantly says she wants to give her kids “choice” which is ironic because she has completely taken that away from them. She has made all their choices which is sadly going to impact the entirety of their lives in the worst ways possible.

There may be some ways for Tenille and her husband to loosen the reins with the children, but if you research psychology, STRUCTURE is PERTINENT for children.
In addition, she is not pushing them to perfect, she is PUSHING them to put in effort to do their very best in whatever they are doing. That's called a LIFE skill. That ends up raising children and people's confidence as time goes on when they invest their effort to do the very best they can, and watch their own progress as time goes on.
