Anatomy of a Piano Arrangement, Ep.1: For Faith (Yakuza 4) - Intro

- Hi guys! Just experimenting with another type of content--when I was active in cosplay, it was customary social media practice amongst crafters to post progress pics and detailed notes as they were building a costume, and I LIVED for that, just seeing my peers' process in bringing a vision to life and sharing my own progress on projects as well. I'd been thinking for a while how to implement that for my own music "builds" on social media, as it's not easily digestible as photos or art, so I've decided to track my progress on this arrangement I'm working on and share it with you all in these short little phone video summaries at every section of the song, that is if it's of any interest to anyone lol. This is the first part of the intro, the genre is pop/alt rock, arranging for solo piano. At the time of this writing, I'm up to the last part of the song, so this isn't EXACTLY in real time but nobody wants to see me throw myself at Musescore and my piano for 60+ hours haha so these are highly condensed logs on how the arrangement is coming together. Hopefully I can get the whole thing finished, learned, practiced and recorded in the next few weeks! I'll be posting these progress vids every 2-3 days or so.

I wanna see more of how the PURPLESAUSAGE gets made
OMG MIKE LOLLLLLLLL
You're incredible at what you do
Oh gosh I try 😂 don’t always succeed if ever haha, but I appreciate that so much, thank you ❤️
This is my first time hearing you speak. For the longest time I have ever watched your videos here and this just made me smile
ahaha thank you, and thank you for watching my videos for so long, I appreciate that so much!!!
Oooooh, I also really enjoy the insight from seeing how stuff is made. This was cool!
Usually when I skip octaves on guitar it's because I've run out of frets or don't want to compromise a chord voicing somewhere else on the fretboard, but seeing it done purely for expressive purposes is so neat.
ahh thanks so much Scott!!!!
I love this idea so much!!! Might I suggest adding captions for when you are speaking, bc it’s a bit softer and harder to make out when recorded this way? I love this format though!
Ahh thanks so much Patti, I’ll try to do that!! condensed captions because I’m wordy and talk fast haha, I hope that’ll be ok
Never knew you had such a wonderful smile! Lol I like this tutorial-styled approach 👍
Haha thanks, I’m glad you found it interesting!
so nice hearing you talk and telling us how you approach music! very cool hope to see more
Aw thanks I’m glad you found it interesting!! I’ll def have more vids for this particular song!
super interesting! Cant wait for more!
thank you Pablo! I'm glad you think so!!!
I know next to nothing about playing piano and even less about music theory or anything like that so my opinion doesn't really hold any weight in this conversation. That being said, THIS ARRANGEMENT IS SO GODDAMN BEAUTIFULLY COMPOSED AND PLAYED I HOPE TO ABLE TO HEAR THE FULL VERSION SOON!
ahhhhhh thank you so much, that means a lot!!!! =) =) I'll have the second episode up today or tomorrow, and the other progress vids every few days after that!!!
never heard you talking, beautiful voice btw!
lol surprised to hear it haha thanks!
A super interesting video, even for someone who doesn't know anything about music!
ahh thank you so much Adam, I'm so glad you found it interesting! I wasn't sure how receptive people would be.
Veeery nice. Looking forward to hear the full version!
Thank you!!! Hoping it works out haha!
Is it just me or is this the first time I'm hearing Schala's voice?
Not only does she play beautifully but she has a very lovely voice too ♥
lol thank you Duo!
It's so nice to see you smile so happily about the process ^-^
haha thank you Lynea, it's fun!!
It’s always a joy to see how brains of talented ppl see, hear and feel the world - so different for each person. The human brain is FUCKING amazing 😮
i couldn't agree more! like, my brain is nothing special lol but that's why I LOVE seeing progress vids/pics when people undertake projects, just to see how it all comes together!
@@purpleschala I should have been more explicit in my praise of your talents. YOU are awesome 👏
I loved seeing a bit of your process here. Ahhh it sounded so full once those chords came in. So cool to see how you tackle your arrangements, thank you for sharing!!
OMG GIRL THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!!
Gatdamn. You're a wizard. Straight up magic.
LOL omg giving me too much credit here hahaha!!! thank you lol
It's good to see how cast you get the melody and the song, then decorate it further and improve it
Thank you!! Later in the song it gets less clear cut haha, there’s so much going on lol
Super interesting, I would love to see more videos of the process like this!
awww thank you so much!!! I'm glad it's not boring haha, I wasn't sure lol
I'm glad you gave us some insight into the making of your songs. It reminds me on how much work and effort is put into each piece. Just like the cosplay build videos.
Shirayasha I appreciate that so much! Thank you!!!!
❤❤👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks for insight into your music making process. Its a pleasure seeing such a strong musical mind and talent work on something.
you're far too kind Henri omg thank you so much for watching!!! I'm glad you found it interesting!!!
ohhh! I really love this! It was really great to see how it comes together and your progress on what you do. I used to cosplay so I remember the process pictures back in the day. It's so cool to see this! Thank you for giving a small insight on how you tackle an arrangement.
AHHH HAIL FELLOW COSPLAYER!!!! 😍😍😍 thank you so, so much for watching, and for the kind words!!! I wasn't sure if anyone would find it interesting, so the response has been overwhelming and encouraging! Thank you again!!!
I always liked watching your shorts of you working on a piece but this is like a whole extra level. I'd love to see more like this in the future!
AHHH THANK YOU SO MUCH OMG I'm so happy people are finding this sort of thing interesting!!!! I mean I know I do, but i can never be sure if my own process is worth sharing with others hahaha. I am recording more of these little vids as I work through the song, so there will be more in a few days! Thank you again!!!!!!!
I love this! It’s so interesting to see how you turn these guitar-heavy tracks into beautiful piano pieces.
aw thanks so much Jen, thank you for noticing that!!! That's why I chose this particular song to document, as I thought it might be more interesting to see!
Man, this song has such a nostalgic sound to it! This was a fun video to see, and I would love to see more like it. Have you made other videos like this?
Ahh thanks so much!! No, this is my first time doing a series of progress videos, just testing the waters, but for this particular song I’ve already recorded the next five little videos and working on the last section, so I’ll post them all in the coming days!! I’m really glad you find it interesting haha I thought maybe it might be boring lolllll
Oh damn, love seeing the genius behind the scenes.
oh gosh I don't know about genius hahaha, but thank you, that means a lot!!! I'm glad you found it worthwhile!
😎
💝
fascinating to see the process!
thank you!!!! glad to hear it
I'm so glad you got into Yakuza
Legit ruined my life, in the best way lmao
Yay! I love this video format! I recall asking if you did lessons and you said no but this is definitely a useful to those who want to learn. I can’t wait to see where it goes! Also side question maybe not the right place but I don’t know where/who to ask but is the ff podcast still in development?
ahhh thank you so much, I'm so glad you found it useful!!!
Thats respectable. Well I wish him well on his endeavors!
Such a tease! Want to hear the rest already D:
ahhh thanks so much!! ❤getting there, hopefully I won't screw up the ending hahaha
It's nice to see the process :) sounds awesome so far
thank you so much Robert!!! that means a lot coming from you!
@@purpleschala the idea it means a lot coming from me reminds me i have so much to work on because you're miles ahead of me and my passion has been fleeting between the years. it's only ever been me self teaching so it means a lot coming from you too :) i can play and tab what otherwise i cant describe so this was a pretty refreshing and inspired way to look at the problem, that is a song you wanna own :) i look forward to maybe part two and always the end result. be lucky
Nice!
Thanks!!! Time will tell if it turns out ok hahahaha
@@purpleschala I'll be shocked if it doesn't. Hehe
