This was actually a great album and deserved more praise. To me it was the last YES album that really moved me and carried that special vibe that only YES could deliver.
Lightening Strikes, Face to Face and The Messenger are great bangers from the album.

This band in the 80s was music that healed my soul from the abuse I experienced as a youth. It took me about 5 years to process it all once I got out on my own. YES, Pink FLoyd and Rush were staples in my life that gave my soul relief and direction.

Let’s face it, listening to a band that has such a catalogue of tremendous music for 54 years is amazing. Thanks Yes. I know most of the are gone from this world, but thank you for enriching my life
    for so long.

That was beautiful! I'm a longtime YES fan, and don't remember listening to this. I'm a little ashamed of myself for not giving their "later stuff" a closer listen. That just changed! I loved the smiles on your face's. YES does that to me too. Thanks...that was great!

The Ladder is a Fantastic Album, all of it. There are also some absolute Gems on Keys of Ascension 1 and 2 like Mind Drive and That That is. Also in Magnification Spirit of Survival and In the Presense of .

I haven't listened to the later Yes either really but to hear this track is beautiful Jon's voice is immaculate as usual but as a band they never lose there sound
The way they can change a track throughout shows what fantastic musicians they are
They have produced masterpieces throughout there Career like Close to the Edge! Awaken' Ritual' The Gates of Deliriam, plus many more & this track is right up there with them. Class Band
      RIP Chris, Alan,🙏❤

This period of Yes, late nighties were really underestimated by fans, because of dynamic changes to the group's line up. I only ever wanted to see one group live, and that was Yes, I was visiting my sister in Canada, and she got me tickets to their concert, which has this line up. I will forever remember this concert, and the musicianship was extraordinary, Igor Khoroshev was pretty amazing on the keyboards. Amazing reaction both, again you are well loved by those who you entertain by these reaction video's, love to you both.

  • @donaldshulenburg1553
    @donaldshulenburg1553 6 місяців тому +2

I love both of you. You are so authentically good people. Your reaction is what good people of every origin feel. That is the message in this song. HOME. We all grow up in a home. Some are positive and some not so much. But if you are in a loving home it is the most important part of your human development. I have to say this this, one of the most poetic and profound lyrics in this this song to me is "Hate destroys the soul of anyone who tries to teach it" . God bless you and I will continue to follow you.

I don’t know if you are still doing reactions, but as a huge Yes fan. and a BIG fan of “The Ladder”, thank you for this reaction. I love it, my favorite Yes song is “It Will Be a Good Day” because it actually affected my life, but Homeworld is fantastic, a great song. I’m really a BIG Close to the Edge guy, but this song is very close to their best. I’ve been a Yes fan since 1970 , actually before the Yes album , even though that album really changed everything for me. I hope you are still doing this. And BTW The Ladder is fantastic.

And The Remembering. Maybe the Yes song that requires the most from the listener (or The Ancient), but SO worth it when that crescendo hits!

Well tou did 3 songs from them, now it's time to get to the monuments like Heart of the Sunrise, And You And I, Southside of the Sky… and if you think you are ready to the more complex go to Ritual, Sound Chaser, Close to The Edge, The Gates of Delirium, these are like classic pieces, like Beethoven or Stravinsky (with whom they opened their concerts back then).

I think if I was to make up my top 20 tracks, this would be in it, Close to the Edge being number 1.
I bought my copy of this at a concert, I still have the T shirt, doesn’t fit anymore, like so many, I shall never get rid of them.

As a longtime Yes fan I would say this album is definitely under rated. You could say the same for Key Studio and Symphonic Yes. The live version of "In the Presence of" is really good. The entire Yes Album is great and you already heard Starship Trooper. I really enjoy your reactions and not just because your reacting to my favorite band. I hope to hear more so enjoy your journey.

Went to see Yes in Liverpool on their last tour and they did the next track on the Ladder album It will be a good day- the River. Whilst only two members on the Ladder Album in the band remain they are carrying the mantle forward with great results. Jon Anderson is no longer in the band but that means he can produce extra great music. Double delight.

You are correct that this is a somewhat over looked song but a beautiful song none the less.I have seen yes over 100 times and still listen almost every day never getting tired.I thought your wife was going to cry at one point. Yes music is very emotional and beautiful on certain songs this being one. Try Awaken and you will have the same reaction.

Thank you for this beautiful song. Many Yes fans put down their late 90’s output. But I enjoy both The Ladder and Open Your Eyes. I do have difficulty getting into the last 3 or so albums without Jon. Davidson is ok. But musically they just don’t have it. Howe’s and Downes just don’t have the same enthusiasm they once had. And without Chris I have little interest. But perhaps I should give those recordings one more chance.

If you get a chance at some venue near enough to you you should go see Jon Anderson doing Yes Epics and Classics backed up by The Band Geeks. These guys cover Yes better than anyone and Jon Anderson picked them to back him up because they play the songs the way they were written to be played. You can look them up on UA-cam also, they're some of the best musicians on the planet covering damn near everyone. I caught them on their first tour in Baltimore and they were phenomenal.

As much as I enjoy the "big sound" of YES, I am much more of a fan of the singer, Jon Anderson. When the music is a simple piano or guitar melody his voice has much more of an impact, That is why I prefer his works away from Yes. He has many great solo albums and collaborations with legends like Vangelis, a fantastic film composer.

It Will Be a Good Day (The River) is a wonderful song. Almost poppy, but extremely positive and adorable to listen to. The backing vocals (guided by our dear Chris - RIP, together with Billy Sherwood) really shine through the song, especially on the House of Blues live version.
