As others have mentioned, this song was dedicated to their drummer Tamu. Singer Mayu wrote the song while Tamu was on hiatus for her pregnancy. When Tamu came back, they had her learn the song. But they didn't tell her that it was for her, sort of a gift to her and her baby, until just a few minutes before this performance. That's why not only are they all having some tears, but Tamu is crying her eyes out! Can you imagine a better gift? It was also guitarist Hazuki's birthday, hence the backstage footage. The overall gist of the song is that no matter what the world tries to throw at you, there will always be someone to catch your fall.
Hold on. Life is on first single released 29.02.2020. That month Tamu recorded 2 videos on their YT channel and wasn't playing only on live promoting Oiran. Too much story telling here.
This version of Life has video from 22.08.2020 livestream and CD sound. Tamu is among credits of attending artists, this can be checked at Discogs. Before 22.08.2020, when this video was recorded, she knew the song. Tears of whole band was after speeches spoken before the song, when they turned mic stands to drums and told her, how happy they are because her child and her return.(edited - date)
@@reel_mixer When we say it was her first performance since returning from having her child, we mean it was their first concert performance with her since that time. This was from a live-streamed concert. Obviously, they had played together prior to this, as she obviously had to learn the song. The offical MV wasn't released right away. They went back and put in the studio version of the audio in place of the live audio, and it was several months later before it was released as an official MV.
@@reel_mixer Lol, so let me get this straight. Of all the things I said, the "whole lot of storytelling" was just the trivial point that it was written before and not during her maternity leave? Lol, okay, fair enough, I'll concede you that point. The song was written before Tamu left on maternity leave. It was still written while she was pregnant. Her pregnancy is still what inspired Mayu to write the song (she has said so herself). All of the dates Saki mentioned were during Tamu's period of pregnancy (which was from approximately September 2019 through May 2020). And while they may have planned to do a show with Tamu on February 29th, 2020, the show from which the Life video is taken was performed in August 2020, roughly three months after she gave birth, and coincided with Hazuki's birthday. They released the Oiran single on February 29th, but if they performed the planned show that Saki mentioned, it wasn't filmed, as the show performed in August 2020 is widely reported as their first live concert. So basically, apart from the fact that they wrote the song before her maternity leave (but during her pregnancy), not during the maternity leave, is the only point you have contested.
This is the first time performing as a full band since the return of the drummer, Tamu from having a child. Notice the rest of the band is facing the drummer. This song is celebrating Tamu and her bringing a new life into the world, hence the name of the song, Life.
This is live. This is from their live stream virtual show in august 2020. Drummer Murata Tamu just came back after having her baby in spring. So song is very emotional for her. After a break in show, they came back turned their mics toward her to sing to her. Very emotional song. They celebrated guitarist Hazukis birthday.
The video is live but the audio is taken from the studio recording. They also did this with "SORAI" and "MONSTERS". But their latest video of "Life" is really live
Thank you for the reaction. The tears of the drums in this video are live images of her giving birth to her first child and returning to the band just before this. It's a tear of joy that I was able to return. NEMOPHILA is a band from here, but please support me.
Awesome reaction guys. I believe this song was dedicated to tamu( the drummer) who just got return back from having her child. There is a video where someone provided English lyrics you could check out.
Great reaction! I know you'll get the background of the song in the comments. But you asked the question about other bands. (Ex) Lovebites bassist, Miho, wrote the song "Journey to the Other Side" for her father when he died. When they performed in it on the "Daughters of the Dawn" DVD, she broke down crying in the middle of the song. She never missed a note. I believe that clip is currently available. But it was uploaded by a third party, so I don't know for how long.
Others have filled you in (Gary Keeling) is spot on .There is a new live out side concert 3 songs up on there channel life Oiran and Dissension well worth you looking at as there true lives .This song always means a lot to them when they play it because of that first performance at the welcome back Tamu online live show .By the way new online concert on the 17th of October tickets out 21st of September there superb and new album away for mastering .
Great Reaction Guys.. This Song should come with a " Raw Onions " warning on the label... I absolutely LOVE this Band, and I don't understand a word of Japanese, ( well, maybe one or two )... keep rocking... P.S. if You haven't already, check out Band Maid, You won't be disappointed.. A nice starter would be " Alone ", get ready to be Rocked..
I'm with you on this, this song is absolutely beautiful, the feeling, the guitars, the voices and the drums.I can sense the emotion coming through not to mention the fact that it's an all female band.I love them.P.S. At 9:34 we can see the drummer crying and tears running down her face,This is making me tear up.
You guys need to listen to Ice nine kills again, they are such a great band. They have another song they did based on the American Psycho movie called Hip to be scared. I highly recommend that song and they did a song on the resident evil game too

@@reel_mixer Yep, I don't know why people like to invent stories 🤷🏻♂️

It was being sung to Tamu, about life in general! She just returned from having her child!❤️🤘
