Always my FAVorite song for so many years ..because it always makes.me think of a special lady.
Until very recently, I thought this song was written by Paul Young. His version is great, but I have to admit it can't hold a candle to this version🤩! That sax and that voice😍!

The First thing I have to get out of the way is the Guy’s name on the Hammond B3 is Jeff LEVINE, from what I have researched. People may hate me, but Levine’s organ work on this version makes this version like no other, to me, the BEST version if have ever seen. I was in tears the first time I saw this video. I saw another version from 1996 different organ guy and flat out, not even close to this version. I love the part at 5:47 where it breaks down into so more less formidable chords, giving that gospel, dark soul feel, I can tell you, sometimes you can’t buy, practice your way to that kind of playing, you got to earn it over 30-40 years of giggin and that’s how I hear Levine’s sound. Daryl Hall is obviously the star with is voice un matchable and yes the sax guy complete crushed it. Why can’t I buy a ticket to see this kind of show somewhere.

I was lucky to play with Daryl & John for 6 years. Missing T. Bone Wolk (rip) Just caught them on Jimmy Fallon playing this song. I stopped performing with them in 2001= I've missed 15 years of "Not Going For That" :)

Wow, this sure brings back memories. In the 1990’s I was living in Halifax Nova Scotia and had the good fortune of attending one of their concerts. They sang this one that night. Fantastic.

And for anyone who doesn't believe in God, this right here is God-given talent, not just with Daryl but with all of these musicians. Sure, I'm certain they've all spent hours, years even perfecting their gift, but how many of us could spend 24/7 rehearsing we'd still be/remain laughable. Raising my hand. 😆

I can't belive lots of people did'nt know this is a Daryl Hall song. If you have the album " Voices " released in 1980 you must have heard it because it comes after the " You Make My Dreams " song. It;s kind of hard to miss. This is the only version forme. Paul Young's version is so watered down for me.
That summer of graduation, working at a camp as a cabin counselor. Songs played late at night when the boys slept. Remembering hearing this on the radio in the indigo twilight. No internet. No digital. Just the wailing saxophone in harmony with the ravens at sundown. I loved that girl at the other cabin. and she took a piece of me with her back to her cabin every night after the cabin counselors gathered for camaraderie before sunrise.
Nice rendition of the song made popular by Paul Young...keyboards touch is rockin...and the saxophone rocked by a very capable percussionist...backed by a talented tight group...nice job Mister Hall...and Mister Oates...
OH MY GOODNESS! This is so much better than Paul Young's version. Although his is not bad. I just feel like DARYL brings to his performance a deeper emotion and passion. Maybe because he wrote it. The only reason H&O didn't release this was because of the bureaucracy dictated at the time by the studio and producers assuming it wouldn't be successful. Paul Young is a sub par musician at best piggy backing off H&O (and others) songwriting capabilities. This version has an incredibly amount of soul and funk that was destined to be portrayed accurately by the original artists who wrote it.
