Your QO-100 video reception is fine and the problems you're getting have nothing to do with the other transmissions. As M0JTT said, the beacon's video sometimes get corrupted. It's generated by a Raspberry Pi and it just needs a reset to make it come good, so please try it again. I've found skew (LNB rotation) pretty uncritical.
It is told that if you have a very old dish you still can receive an East German Kultur Kanal, with movies for free. Like: "Das leben Von Erich Honnecker" on Sundays.
that is already what I tried, the output of the hackrf is so much weaker than what the wifi amplifiers expect that it doesn't even trigger its TX detection by default, and when it does then very little power comes out, with 2.5m dish and a cheap wifi amp I only got a couple dB above the noise floor on QO-100
@@dereksgc You could try adding some gain after the hack-rf, with one of the cheap ebay amplifiers. A quick look and I can see 35dB modules, sold as LNAs. But look to be using power MMICs. So should be good for 10's of mW output. That could be enough for your amplifier ?
@@me4654 To use the QO100 satellite, you will need an amateur radio licence. How you get that will depend on what country you live in. It usually requires an exam/training course. your best first step would be to find your local amateur radio club and ask there.
I had to repair HackRf LNA almost each time I messed up with external amplifiers (mostly when recieving) but I am now almost certain that It will burn again... Just leak of rf energy fries it :( anyone with the same experience?
Prestehoval jsem se do hlubokeho udoli a az tady pochopil, ze presne toto bude budouci zabava:))) Diky za kanal, budu sledovat. Yes you can but you will be limited to transponders with relatively low symbol rates, only about 7000ksps, maybe up to 15000ksps if you're lucky and the signal is strong enough
why do you have the dish mounted upside down? Usually you only do that to get satellites close to the horizon where an offset dish would actually be pointing down and the mount doesn't work that way. Also, you need to adjust the skew of the LNB - when you're on V, you should see practically no signal from H transponders, and vice versa. It's easier to adjust the skew when the LNB isn't at the top of the dish 20' in the air
I've explained that in previous videos, it allows me to aim the antenna all the way down at 0° elevation at the horizon. In normal config because it's offset it wouldn't be able to do so
DirecTV and dish leave them on apartment building balconies all the time, I've been the longest tenant here only cuz they accept pets! But it's normal to see up to 3 on a balcony & since they use 3rd party installers they aren't gonna remove the old one unless you basically force them 😅 my original guy doesn't work for either company and I used to call him when we had like 11 sitting by the dumpster, obviously they must have some type of power to them cuz he had something to check and he'd say this one isn't good & maybe he'd find 2 he could repurpose, so maybe check out apartment buildings and it's possible you'll find a tenant glad to let you remove it for free
@@me4654 yeah absolutely, same happens here in Europe, for us it's usually Skylink instead of DirecTV. You can spot an unused dish antenna either simply by it not having any cables going to it (or cut), or if it is clearly aimed wrong, often dish antennas get moved during wind storms and the ones that aren't used anymore aren't adjusted back. Often people will let you get it for free since they want to get rid of it
Your system may not have been the problem, QO100 beacon often has broken video so try again and it may be ok. Very nice dish and setup.
If he adjusted the skew, it would work a lot better. Slight skew problems will cause huge issues with dvb-s2

Aktuelle Kamera as well?
very interresting stuff, love the dish
Your hack RF as a 2.4GHz source and a cheap 4watt (chineese watts) wifi amplifier, you will be able to put up good sgnals to QO100 on your big dish.

Does my community college have classes for teaching all these frequencies and codes for this?

there is actully a sofrware demod on windows for qo100
4:44 wow the scale of you standing there, I thought the dish was much smaller
My satellite receiver lets my type in the frequency but doesn't actually receive anything :(

Nice little antenna :)
it just tiny
yeah I thought my 1.8m was a large dish 😆

Damn. Signal reaching 0? Wow.
Keep in mind the -0db point differs between SDRs, my hackrf clone isn't that good so is easier to overload
