I am in my upper 50s and my husband told me I need to go get some shorts. He said they are cooler, easier to move in, and good to exercise in and he said I look good in them. We are currently in Barbados and I only brought 1 pair as I do not own very many. I will be changing things now. Thank you Heather also for the encouragement.

I’m generally not into rules now that I’m 61. But these I agree with. I’m actually in better shape at 61 than 41. I’m having more fun with fashion now more than ever. Hard to decide which outfit of yours I like best. I’m loving everything satin right now.

Dressing for your figure is so key whatever the age. You've definitely got the figure to wear very fitted peices and look great. So many people both underdress and wear things without considering how it works for their shape. I had a natural figure like yours until I gained weight during the pandemic, and still struggling to lose it all, and fell into a dressing down habit for the first time in my life. This year my go to look is dressy casual, and sundresses instead of shorts. I'll probably need my boobs done to have your shape again, but at 54 I'm going to wait and see once all the extra weight is gone. You are inspiring for women like me and have great clothing taste.

Even now I wear short skirts and shorts - not to work or to fancy occasions, but definitely casually. Nobody has ever suggested that I’m too old to wear those things. They actually SELL shorts in stores that cater to mature women, like Chico’s. So IDK what that woman was talking about.

You absolutely can wear the mini skirt! It looks great on you. Style is not about age; it's about what suits one - that depends largely on color and proportions. I still wear mini skirts and form-fitting clothes at age 61. I find they are much more flattering on me than the oversized fashion and the longer dresses and skirts. In fact, the long skirts and dresses make me look like a governess. They often do so even on 20 year olds.

Hey Heather, I don’t know what concert you are going to, but carry some closed toe shoes too. Or cute sneakers. If the ground is nasty or it’s crowded your feet will be exposed. Plus all the walking. I made that mistake before and I said never again.
I usually go the middle route on a lot of things, however, I hate shape wear. I’m only a size 2 or 4, but if I need to wear shape wear, that clothing item is too form fitting for me, and I won’t wear it. Too hot and too stifling. I don’t mind shorter skirts, but since you asked, I would not wear that shirt if a skirt like the denim one you featured. I have great legs, but it’s a ‘no’ for me.

I am a rule breaker but I'm not going to wear THAT to a country wedding, and I am not wearing Jean shorts when sport short are required at a son's game, and I think if you don't need to wear spanx why put that in their head "you would look better in your clothes". You have beautiful legs! Wear the mini skirt! There are some clothes in my age group that should never be worn, but I am 78. Some women in their 20s should never wear a mini. You have quite a few years of mini skirts left.
Since you asked... I don't care for the length of that mini skirt on you due to the amount of leg you are showing. That skirt length might be fine on someone with shorter legs. It looks too short on you, and like you always say "like you're trying too hard" even though the top half is more covered. It has nothing to do with your age or the shape of your legs, it just doesn't look classy. I'd love to see a side-by-side photo of you in the exact same outfit with a skirt that is an inch or two longer.

If I had your figure, I'd wear mini skirts..... I am pleasing plump and occasionally wear a short skirt because my legs are shapely.... feeling comfortable in what you wear is important and that's just me!

Hey Heather, I don’t know what concert you are going to, but carry some closed toe shoes too. Or cute sneakers. If the ground is nasty or it’s crowded your feet will be exposed. Plus all the walking. I made that mistake before and I said never again.

I usually go the middle route on a lot of things, however, I hate shape wear. I’m only a size 2 or 4, but if I need to wear shape wear, that clothing item is too form fitting for me, and I won’t wear it. Too hot and too stifling. I don’t mind shorter skirts, but since you asked, I would not wear that shirt if a skirt like the denim one you featured. I have great legs, but it’s a ‘no’ for me.

I’m 60 years old and I definitely think you SHOULD wear a mini skirt. You are beautiful and have a beautiful body and I don’t think there is any reason you shouldn’t wear a mini skirt. I personally could not wear a mini skirt. Only because I don’t have the body for it. But it also goes back to one of your tips. I think you mentioned confidence? Maybe you didn’t. But anyway, I think that people just say things like thatbecause they’re actually jealous. I think that’s the only reason people project their own insecurities onto other people by saying things like that. Definitely wear a mini skirt or whatever you wanna wear you look great.
Yes Heather I think you look amazing in the the mini skirt, you have great legs. I just went on vacation and wore my Jean mini skirt and I’m going to 60 next year. I think women who stick to the fashion rules can age themselves. I definitely do not follow those rules and because of that people think I’m a lot younger then I am . While on vacation I hade a woman ask me if I was Meagan Markel she’s the actress married to prince Harry. I believe if I dressed frumpy and cut my hair like I’m told I should do I would look a lot older. So show off those great legs with pride.😊

You can definitely wear short skirt if you want. You are in great shape and workout hard to look that way so you should definitely show it off.
I think that an old rule dressed your age. But you have fabulous legs and don't look 50 anyway. Dress how you like and how you want to dress because that way you will feel confident and love oneself❤

I am a rule breaker but I'm not going to wear THAT to a country wedding, and I am not wearing Jean shorts when sport short are required at a son's game, and I think if you don't need to wear spanx why put that in their head "you would look better in your clothes". Since you asked... I don't care for the length of that mini skirt on you due to the amount of leg you are showing. That skirt length might be fine on someone with shorter legs. It looks too short on you, and like you always say "like you're trying too hard" even though the top half is more covered. It has nothing to do with your age or the shape of your legs, it just doesn't look classy. I'd love to see a side-by-side photo of you in the exact same outfit with a skirt that is an inch or two longer.
