How many projects are you typically juggling/ doing at once? Is your company just you and your uncle or do y’all have other operators? Just curious and apologize if answered already in prior videos.
It's been Chris and John only for some time. Earlier this month he said ... «For the past year Ive had about a 3 month list of work waiting to be done at any given time. pretty much whatever job we can do depending on weather»
It’d be nice if you did a video of what questions customers can ask to make sure the contractor we hire can do the work. I went through 2 before I found a 3rd that was able to remove a huge stump in an inner city lot with no room for a large excavator like yours. 3rd guy brought in a larger backhoe.
I run my doors closed on my track loader when i clear land. And i wonder if the trees make that much noise lol. Those saplings are like the willows we have up here. Small and flexible. Extremely hard to pull. If i had a 4 in 1 i might be able to.
18:22 I feel so stupid. Let me explain why. You called that back of the truck drop down thing a "tail gate" previously I did not know the name, but that makes sense. When people call drivers "tail gaters" I always thought it was gator as in "allegator" implying that they were acting like an allegator on your heels. But now I realise it's because they are acting like the "tail gate" on the back of the truck. As in they are acting like they are attached to you. So, yeah, I feel silly now but I guess I learned a thing.
I dunno. I think if had a lake house and needed a drive, I would put one set of flags down and tell Chris to just make me a road the way you think it should be. from here to there. I think he would do a big enough road, with a nice contour with artistry to match scenery and drainage and the embankments. He has a pretty good eye for all of that. I wouldn't be afraid he would just give me a straight road. Here's the main road. Here's the house. Here's the dock, get me from here to there to there with style. It would be very interesting to see what he would do.
The more i watch this channel the more i start to think about getting into the excavating business. I hope to find someone who mirrors your experience and willingness to share your knowledge with the next generation. It’s a tall order tho, you’ve got mighty big shoes to fill. I wish you and your family the best, keep on digging!
One thing I have learned about operating any form of equipment is that if you have to think about every movement of the bucket or anything else then you are not an efficient operator. You have to consider the equipment is an extension of yourself and your actions related to the operation of the machine are automatic. A good operator can be efficient in any brand of a machine of the same type after a short time of familatization. It taks a lot of seat time be be good. I know of a kid that is 17 years old that is as good as anyone. His dad owns a company and startred him on operating construction when he was 10 years.
