This was a great conversation despite the fact that both of us were exhausted after a conference. Some folks will blame me for having this conversation or associating with OS. All I can say is, I've always been an independent thinker. I've always wanted to ask the tough questions, listen to what people have to say, and judge for myself. This attitude is literally what brought me to Islam. I don't care about fitting into anyone's box or meeting anyone's preconceived expectations of who I should and shouldn't be associating with. I despise group think. I found in Shaykh Omar someone with a deep respect for 'ilm, someone who quotes Quran and hadith frequently, someone who is open to advice and feedback, someone who readily admits mistakes and tries to make adjustments, and someone with zero interest in defending themselves against public accusations. He is constantly aware of the pastoral dimension of dawah and this is why he has touched so many hearts. If he has a flaw, it would be occasionally erring on the side of mercy and compassion. I would trade my flaws for that one any day of the week. - Imam Tom
Thank you Imam Tom. As a convert myself who first started channels for beneficial knowledge that brought me to Islam, it has been painful to watch the dragging of Shaykh Omar yet inspiring to see him continue to respond with grace. I converted to Islam through his videos, and while he is not perfect, he has clarified his stances so many times that it becomes hard for me as someone who embraced this beautiful Din why anyone would keep trying to clip old videos out of context and call him ugly names. I hope that you and other Imams can pull students of knowledge into a room and realize how much this is hurting us all. I’m afraid sometimes to share videos of Imam Omar and others that brought me to Islam with my relatives out of fear they will stumble on the drama. Thank you again
This was an amazing discussion. I am a revert. A lot of what I learnt about Islam I learnt from Omar Suleiman. I think many of his critics are jealous of him. May Allah SWT guide them. And may Allah SWT bless you brother Tom, I recently started following your channel and am learning a lot from you too. Jazakumullahu Khairun.
May Allah ease ur difficulties and challenges. U are always smiling....and we feel that u have very smooth life. May Allah keep u smiling always. Its a great sadqa and it reminds us about the beautiful smile of our prophet pbuh.
This is one of the most profound, beautiful and practical conversations in our community as Muslim Americans that I’ve ever heard. Every part of it is deeply touching and thought provoking. JAK!
I want to say that Allah chooses His people and prepares them for their role that He designated them for. All the experience that we go through is meant to shape us under the supervision of Allah. "And I bestowed upon you love from Me that you would be brought up under My eye." "And I produced you for Myself." . Thank you both. May Allah bless you.
Truly the role of an Imam ist very essential. Dr. Omar Suleiman was introduced to me together with Imam Nouman Ali Khan 5 years ago at Bayyinah and since then I always watch and listen to them.
I could tell he's an introvert since I am one myself, I found that to easy to recognize in him actually. Might be something about his gentle yet eloquent manner of conversing (mashallah), not sure exactly, but it is obvious.
Thanks for the interview, was a wonderful insight into the day to day role of an imam. If ever there's a chance to interview a Scandinavian imam, would be wonderful to see if quality public schooling and healthcare alleviate the uncertainty imams go through economically.
2 of the coolest people in one video. May Allah give you istiqama imam tom, being an imam at your young age must be a lot of work - espcially in the polarizing climate we are facing as an ummah. And disunity and confusion spreading against the young people of our time. Praying for you, maShaAllah you seem passionate about what you do! Also, god bless imam Omar.
This is amazing discussion about in Islam very interesting. And both these men have some similarities like they have always used to smile the way they are speaking.
Masha’Allah… Great conversation. May Allah continue to bless you @Imam Tom for your tremendous efforts and preserve Imam Omar immensely. We have a lot to do collectively as masajid and Imams.
This series has been really interesting so far. I think we have a tendency to treat our Imams like machines and this series is a much needed reminder that they are human just like us. May Allah keep you sincere and give you the highest reward for everything that you do.
SubhanAllah. What a great reminder, you never know what one’s is going through privately. We must be mindful and be more kind, seriously just more kindness around our community/masjid
MashaAllah amazing inspiring duo . So many profround messages in this talk. You are providing wonderful beneficial service for the ummah- .May Allah bless you..
"Imam Talk Podcast" This thing is amazing, Thank you, and may Allah bless you two and your family and friends and bless us all and always guide us on the right path. May Allah guide all of them to right path and fulfils their needs from his countless treasures. Felt grieved to hear their financial difficulties. Our duas and support is with all the scholars who spread the knowledge of deen e Islam. The ummah love and respect them all and we all will try our best to benefit u by social media and by other possible ways. May Allah bless all of the scars of muslim ummah. Ameen
