I lived at 22 Cabot in mid 70s. I was 4 and 5 yrs old, so those are my first memories. The 2 story house was the Admiral's house. My sister and I played with the kids there and I remember being in there as a kid and walking up those stairs. Wow. Just wow. I used to walk in the evenings with the Admiral and his wife sometimes.
OMG, Sammy, 4 Cabot was my house from 1965-1968!! I cannot tell you how grateful I am to you for biking there! I had been told that it was destroyed during the making of "Crossbones" but that must have been 2 Cabot. My dad and I went back to RR in 1977 and visited the house with the then-current owners' permission. It's nice to know it's still standing. Wow, so many memories under that carport alone!
Wow! This is incredible. I too am grateful for your video. My dad was the commanding officer from 1984 through 1986. We lived in the two story house next to the house you entered, which is where the admiral lived. I got to go to high school there and it was the time of my life. Someone mentioned the splash hole and believe it or not we were still callingi it that and playing down there all the time. The snorkeling in that little bay was World class. My memories have just come flooding back… I have so much more to say but don't want to bore you. I hope I can take my own family to see that beautiful place one day.
That is a great story Tony I am really glad you enjoyed the video and it brought back some good memeories. If you ever make it to PR again feel free to reach out.
@@spvideo68 hi Sammy. My family and I have booked a trip to Puerto Rico in June. As the date gets closer I might want to pick your brain a little bit on going to the base. We would also enjoy meeting you sometime while we are there if you are available. I'll reach out again to you in the near future. Thanks again for all of your videos! Tony Mezzadri
Great videos, Sammy! To your right in this video at Cowpens & Franklin was the pink house at 19 Cowpens Drive I lived in from 1961 to 1965. It was the very first house driving into officer's housing. If it's still there could you take a look? Thanks and keep up the terrific work!
Primera ver que fui a la base fue hoy y que triste el abandono no pude explorar mucho por el factor tiempo la proxima vengo con la mtb ,Thanks for the videos
i tried linking to places in the video but UA-cam removed the posts. @ 6:38 our house is on the left behind the palm tree and overgrowth. @10:04 you can see the gun emplacement i mentioned in a previous video. Look for the white V lower right quadrant of the screen. I spent endless hours playing on those beaches and fishing from the rocks. Also played in the area where the Admiral's two-story houses are before they were built. They were built in the last year that we lived there.
@@spvideo68 those of us who lived and grew up in Roosevelt Roads can never than you enough for these videos! They bring back so many wonderful memories.
What address on Cabot did you live? When did you live there? I played in the future admirals' house area before they were built as well. Lots of scrub brush and wasn't there a fake missile up there? We would climb down the cliff and catch tropical fish for our aquariums.
@@justalittlesersy5678 we lived in the house at the end of cul-de-sac, i believe the address was 5 Cabbot Drive, from 1969 to 1974. The Admirals houses were built the last year we lived there and were occupied maybe the last 2 months we were there.
My family and I lived in 10 Cabot. What a shame to see these houses in this shape. The big house in your video was for the 1 star region commander Commander for Naval Air Caribbean…, the smaller 2 story was the station commanding officer’s house. Great videos. Thanks.
I lived on San Jacinto drive when they built those houses. We had so much fun riding our bikes up there and hanging out on the cliffs. Funny how no one seemed to care that a bunch of 8 year olds were playing on a cliff. LOL. good times though.
If I'm not mistaken I was in that house back in 1978 I believe it was. At that time the house was occupied by Adm. Flannigan, COMNAVFORCARIB. I was on his communication staff in N2 division. It was the location for a military exercise to test the ability of our guys in repelling a home invasion by hostiles from the water.
I lived on Cabot. Sadly the front of the house is completely overgrown and it cannot be seen. $20,000 dollar house with a million dollar view. Used to descend the cliff and hang out at the "splash hole" a bit. A house is missing from the end of the cul-de-sac. Might be an interesting story to it. The carport is still there though. Had some entertaining times there.
Some of the Cabot houses were pretty near some cliffs! I was age 8 to 10, and liked exploring the seashore from Cabot to Nimitz, and some in the mangroves. At the end of summer 1963 I found a body on the shore near an outdoor gathering place called "Teahouse of the August Moon."

Isn’t this where the base CO lived? I remember passing by these houses when I was in security, they were one of the mandatory checks.
Yes, from the comments the house was occupied by many CO’s during the years of service.
In 1962-'64 the CO and XO lived at the far northeast end of Roosevelt Drive.
Loopland is the company doing it
Yes but slow slow slow, in my opinion theey are only grabbing the money.
