I like the fact he fixed it up where it did the most good, like the bungie gear, the solid controls over the cable, much more room especially in the back seat....it's just a nice plane.
I like it but at this price point and engine options your competing with tandem bush planes and small cruisers. As they are full legal aircraft, not part 103s, without some options like folding wings to store it at home and give them a kind of convivence, I have a hard time seeing why this is better than a pre owned Cessna 172 or a Zenair 701. have even found a Piper Cherokee for not much more than this with the larger engine options.
This is NOT a part 103 ultralight, it has two seats, and weighs more than 254 lbs. In Canada it is an ultralight, but in the U.S. it is an experimental amateurbuilt aircraft.
Very interesting. Have had an interest in homebuilt kits for some time. I see why novice pilots would be curious. Now, being a pilot for many years I was tad disappointed that no specs were included. Gross, empty, fuel capacity, bla bla bla....
I received your answer. To the novice with money and little to no flight experience I feel your path may work. But, to an accomplished pilot that way won't work. I felt or hoped my question would get a direct answer which is essentially easy and necessary. Are you a pilot?
Nope, not yet ;) I'm going the LSA route as soon as I retire this year, in a few months. I already have my time booked at an airport in SC that has a 9 day course. I'm really looking forward to it :) As for what else you're saying, I guess this would be an ideal aircraft for the low and slow type of flying I like, so for me it just might be ideal. In the end, it's all about what an individual wants and needs.
The only interview I've ever seen with a price all in, flying..... that's one of my most important things to know, never see it, excellent job

Not sure I'm comfortable with everything being held together with rivets.....
Then I wouldn't suggest you fly in any commercial aircraft.
