Single days were fun -- full of exploring and trying new things. But my current relationship/marriage days have similar experiences and then more. I've previously dated extremely controlling and rigid people, but my husband is the best friend and perfect partner for me. He's sweet, attentive, emotionally intelligent, comforting, and the most fun I've EVER had. So to conclude... being single is fun and exciting, but finding the very specific right person to be with is the best part of a relationship.

The end hit different for me. I should never have been with someone so controlling with a "my way or the highway" mindset. Compromise is such an important yet ignored thing in relationships sometimes, among other things like listening to and respecting your partner. It was an eye-opening experience for me, and it showed me how a relationship should never be. I'm happy to be single and free!!! I'm currently grinding in my first semester of law school. I have been single for a long time. I have my good days in being single, but I also have my bad days. I'm so happy I came across this video. I really needed some validation. Both of my siblings are in relationships and plan to bring their partners to family holiday events. I couldn't help but feel left out. But, when I really thought about it, I was like, "Who am I fooling? Being in a relationship requires effort I am not ready to give."

I haven't had a significant other long enough to realize that I am far too selfish with my time to realistically devote a large amount of it to someone else. Its not that I don't want to find "the one" but I like everything about being single, and it would take something absolutely special for me to be willing to sacrifice my time.

I gave her princess treatment for 8 whole months. I mean words cant describe how well i treated this woman. And she left me while I was going through a rough patch because my new roommates were extremely abusive to the point where I had to keep my door locked to my room 24/7. She didnt even try to communicate. She instead told her horrible "friends" about us instead of talking to me about our issues like a normal human being. Not even a break up text. Wake up blocked on everything. Still radio silence 2 weeks later and I honestly don't care, I'm over her. I was devastated. 2 weeks later, I secured a new job that is my dream job. And I'm learning to love myself. Something I've struggled with for years. Maybe everything happens for a reason 😅

You can be nice in general and still learn how and when you should stand up for yourself. Absolutely get yourself figured out before you go trying for romance again. It's rough for both you and your potential lover if you try to date when you're not happy with who you are. That said, some people are just awful for no good reason. Just watched that documentary, and bro. That moment around 5:05 where you talk about having your life planned ahead of you and it just getting erased... that hit me, man. I've never seen you get emotional like that, and I felt that. I felt that so hard. Even after all the success you've had, for that to still sting you like it does.
I've spent the last thirteen years of my life doing everything I could to be either a priest or a friar. For as far back as I could remember, that's what I knew I was supposed to be. I put everything on it. Things kept going wrong, but I still pushed. Like you said, living by faith, not by sight. Finally, just over a year ago, I got so close. I was just a few days before the finish line, the happiest I had ever been in my life, and then out of nowhere, everything, everything just got pulled out from under me. All that time, all that work, just... gone. Totally believing in myself, and being the only one.
It's like you said, though. No one has my voice. I've got stories to tell. I've got a lot to share. I think UA-cam really is the place to do that. I might not have a whole lot going for me, but I am a storyteller. That's something I love. That's something I hope I can do.

I’m single, and I am happy to be single, to a point. But I do have times where I just wish I had someone I could cuddle up with at night.
Even worse, my family loves to bring up the fact that I’m still single, that there’s clearly something I’m doing wrong to still be single in my 20s, but as much as I do want to find someone, I need to be ready for it. And even if I feel ready for it, it’s a whole new playing field for me, and I need to find someone I feel is right for me. And I’m willing to wait for that.
Tips from a happily married woman:
You really shouldn't be dating if you aren't in a stable and healthy place yourself. If you have a serious mental health disorder that's currently unchecked, a financial situation that's on the rocks, etc, now is not the time. Don't stress yourself and your potential partner by trying to jump into a relationship you aren't ready for.
Waiting for the right person is absolutely worth it. In the meantime, make friends instead. Who knows, maybe one of those friends will end up being a good fit for you romantically down the line. Having shared interests is always a good start for both kinds of relationships, after all. And the best kind of romances are the ones where you already care about each other and know a little about each other. You get to skip the awkward first few dates like you've used a cheat code.
For the nighttime cuddles, get yourself one of those super big plushies. They're good to have as something to squeeze or as something to put up against your back while you sleep. It almost feels the same as having another person. And I don't care what gender you are, I'm sure you can still find one you like. So long as you take decently good care of it, it can last a lifetime and then some. Secondary plan- a warm and fuzzy pet like a dog or a cat that will sleep on the bed with you also helps. Camaraderie without the risk and stress of another human being involved. Generally more expensive than the plushie in the long run, but cheaper than dating.

Reason I’m single is because it’s cheaper, no drama, it’s better mentally and physically but most of all no one is constantly up your rear end 24/7. I’ve seen how unhappy my cousin is in a toxic relationship and it’s changed him completely. And for that I’m proud to be single and I love the single life 😁😎💯

That coupled with my senior year being taken away by Covid, and moving after getting my GED, im not stuck with the few people I made friends with and two of them are my Exes. I'm single because I screwed myself and was too shy to meet people, and now ive moved away from all of my friends and I'm in a small town with no natural way to meet new people.

Can verify. Communication and accepting criticism is the key to a good romantic relationship. Everyone has arguments sometimes. No relationship is perfect, but the end goal should always be to improve your lives together.

My reason is that I hate physical contact. Can't do romantic stuff when the whole romance part is repulsive to one party. It wouldn't be fair to the other person in the relationship to only feel emotionally attracted.

The real reason why I'm single is because I pretty much need to learn how to catch people lying before I can even date. People nowadays can try to snake you. That and girl's standards (particularly in western society) are higher than gas prices, my car insurance and credit card bills. Owning multiple cars is much easier than dating.

I 100% agree on accepting criticism. My best friend once told me “communication is sexy,” and it’s the best relationship advice I’ve ever gotten. My partner and I have very open communication (at least I like to think so) and I think it has made our relationship last as long as it has. He has helped me become a better person, and I’ve noticed that he opens up to me more and tells me when he’s uncomfortable, and that makes me happy. (If anyone’s interested, we’re closing in on two years together 🥰)
I'm single because I have trust issues. My parents and friends have all been in toxic relationships that ended poorly or good relationships that ended without warning. I acknowledge that its unhealthy to not let anyone in and to deny yourself joy and love. It’s one my biggest struggles in life.

When I was single it was because I was too nervous to ask a girl out, I was friend zoned, and/or I didn’t meet “expectations”. Although I remember when my female friends asked me why I was still single and I would respond saying “I’m over qualified” 😂.

And I try very hard not to be those people. I have gone through hell and high water to better some of my awful emotional habbits. And I try really hard to listen if someone I trust tells me something I need to think about bettering.
