    Used to do artwork on pencil, then with a magnifying lens sit in the sun as a kid and burn the design into the wood. Also helps with fire craft and learning to start fires with no matches or lighter😆

    great stuff ! i coffee stained my blade, i'd read it doesn't last as long as the acids in the mustards etc, but mine has... and i'm very happy with it ! it's had some use, some cleaning and a lil coconut oil light greasing.... still looks good.

    Thinking of purchasing an Opinel #8 and #9, and these kind of mods are right up my alley since I love modding and crafting stuff. Another couple of really cool options you can do on these, is inlayed patterns on the handles using crushed Turquoise and the thin CA glue to set it with, or thermally transferred images like woodland or farm / hunting scenes.....simply make a photocopy on a printer to the size you want that fits the handle, flip it toner side down, tape it at the edges to secure against movement, then using your wood burning shader tip, turn up to pretty warm but not so hot it burns the paper upon touching it, and just shade over the toner to heat it up and transfer the image to the wood, light sand and poly, DONE and it looks fantastic. Great job, you earned a new sub brother !

    Hello! as I have said before thank you for the video and inspiration. I am mostly done with personalizing my first opinel knife and I was just curious about the sheath and how you harden/bake it. (Like how you keep its rounded shape, How you restring it, What strings you use to restring it, What part during the hardening you can burn designs into the leather). Maybe if it isn't too much to ask you could do a mini video about how you personalized the sheath. Thank you so much again!

      I will add that to my list. The leather is about 6oz veg tan. Meaning it’s pretty hard and it doesn’t loose shape. The leather you have in mind is about 1-2oz. That is real flimsy in thin. I will do some leather work videos soon :)

    How well will the patina hold up with use?

    Will that make the patina hold up better with everyday use?

    What I would like to do is etch my thumbprint on the blade. Do you think it will work if I press my thumb on the blade (after cleaning it first) and then cover that area with the mustard mix?
    I'm hoping that the mustard won't stain the blade where the grease from my thumbprint it, but as I've never done this before I'm not sure if it works or not..

    • @CorneliusCreations
      @CorneliusCreations  4 роки тому

      A lot of kitchen knives are made of Stainless instead of High Carbon so this won't particularly work that well with any kitchen knife. A lot of people use a patina like this for their outdoor knives to protect it against rust and such.
