I love modding Opinel knives. From a basic handle reshape, curving one side to parallel the cutting edge (similar to the official gardening blade) and a recent large (maybe a No. 9) with a modded spear point blade and handle end flattened to give a maximum blade length nit far short of the handle, then gun metal blue finish. Nice leather work esp. the dye.....I did another knife sheath in veg tanned leather and ‘vinegaroon’.......looked.....rustic!
Nice work, one thing I would recommend doing for the embossing of the letters on leather, use a large C-Clamp to press the stamp into the leather, you will get a very crisp and deep impression when doing that, instead of using a hammer that can cause a bounce and a mis hit
That's one heck of a transformation mate! Looks awesome! It looks like it would make a cool little whittling knife too, I really like the shape. I've never thought of upgrading stuff like this. I hope you are staying safe and healthy over there in your part of the world :)
BOY!!!!! You are the consummate creator! Woodcarving, wood burning, leatherwork (with his own pony) with saddle stitching - what else???????????????? I am IMPRESSED.

@@kenmcmullan9330 Yes! You can really use anything that is acidic to purposefully tarnish the blade. Most chefs just use vinegar but the mustard was a great idea to spread and make the design with intention. Awesome stuff!
Hi Cornelius, thank you for the video with such nice embelishments. Just one question - what kind of acid (?) are you using for the blade? And is the blade carbon or stainless? Chris
I need help. I just started engraving wood and when I engrave I get these wood "pieces" that hang onto the wood where I engraved and I dont know how to remove them without using sandpaper and sanding away part of my engraving. Is sanding the only way to get these pieces to go away? If there a way to keep them from appearing?
@@CorneliusCreations Thanks for your reply! I thought of you lastnight..when I was carving 😁 haha nah I meant the spinny circle thing you put your work on Looks like it has a grippy mat on it to hold your work and turn it I found in another comment section people were talking about it Much love from New Zealand my bro!
thanks for getting back to me. I was asking about the flex shaft itself connecting to my ryobi rotary tool, will a dremel flex shaft connect to a ryobi tool or any cheap one from ebay or amazon?
cool knife I like the way you did the blade. I was going to start carving with the old ryobi I have. can you tell me are all flex shafts compatible? I know it has to be a 1/4" or 3mm that's it?
For the most part all flex shafts bits and burrs will work if you have the right collets. (Collets house the burrs) I find the most standard collet being 3mm. Larger units like the Foredom go up to 1/2 on there burrs which is crazy
Your Videos for mods to Opinel knives inspired me to give it a try. I got the handle completed and tried the mustard/vinegar/lemon juice mixture to put a design on the blade of a No 8. I left it on overnight and when I took the dried mixture off, there was no design on the blade. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Yes. I so wanted to do the blade. I'm looking at getting the carbon version. Thanks for answering my question and I like your video set up. Do you have to pay the cat extra for appearances in the videos?
Nice work. But plz, don't use a metal hammer when stamping leather. That's why you got some double stamps, use a deadblow hammer or a rawhide mallet. And a metal hammer destroys the tools and you can get a metal chip in the eye..
@@CorneliusCreations you're welcome. Keep up your awsome work. You've inspired me to do some carving at axes, but it is hard because I'm lefthanded and struggle with the control of my Dremel, the rotation of the bur is against me.
The mustard trick is crazy art. Well done.
I appreciate the patience of anyone who can do this, it's something I've never had and wished I did.
Thank you for the kind words. Hey, it’s never too late to start!
Dude! The toothbrush flick, genius.

The lazy susan at the 8:00 minute mark. It looks like just what I need for my "Traveling" wood carving.
Yeah, hopefully I’ll get the blueprints for these soon. I bought this from a website no longer in business.

Excellent tip. That's how I emboss my "handmade by" stamp into leather.

How about some information about the portable carving/leatherworking benchtop station you showed at 13:18?

Hallo, für die Patina, was sind das für Zutaten.?
Hallo, Senf, Essig, Zitronensaft

I was wondering that as well

Loved the cat part :D
Dremel 3000 with flex shaft or dremel stylo. Witch is better to start with
Depends what you are doing. I’d say 3000 for starting off
Why do i need the wood burner?
Nice 👍

Hey, not op, but french. Acids are vinegar and lemon juice, and blade is carbon. You can zoom in on the handle at 0:10 ;D

120- 400 grit :)
It is part of power carving. Use bristle disc's and sandpaper to remove them.

No problem :)
how long do you leave the mustard on the edge if you don't mind me asking
Anywhere from 8-15 minutes usually.
