Seriously... why would Kaku allow the word "GOD" to be in the title... he's declared outright that he doesn't believe in a deity... this just invites pseudo-scientific religious people to come and say, "SEE,SEE! A Scientist said God"...
Teachers .Pet I'll tell you why, Kaku is refering to God in a very abstract almost poetic representation regarding the point of origin in the universe. The sum of all things. Essentially you might say it's the God of the gaps, but I do think using religious imagery to paint a picture of all these magnificent things in the universe is an effective tool to spark imagination. Yeah there are people who will choose to misinterpret it but that will always be the case. When I said earlier that God is both a mathematician and a musician, I'm not necessarily referring to a specific deity, rather I'm expressing the beauty of the intricacy's I see in the Universe. Of course if there literally is a God, then it would seem to me like a very accurate representation. Now I'm what you might call a progressive Christian. I do on a personal level believe in a higher power, but rather than the very traditional image of an omnipotent being, I tend to be of the mind that God is omnipresent and I think that knowing what we know regarding the universe, it's a much more likely scenario, but again, that's just the way I tend to see things, bu when talking about the universe, I feel like you're always going to stumble into some abstract territory.
You are stupid, God is much beyond that. You do not have the capacity to understand. You only know what you have been indoctrinated with need to totally change your perspective and see God for what he is, You!
Qabbalah 101: YHWH Elokim is the Infinite and Eternal Name of G-d combined with the 10 Musical Spheres (Sefirot in Hebrew) of the Name Elokim for a total of 11 dimensions. QED- Quickly and Easily Done
G-d is not limited either by the Sefirot. His Infinity is a perfect Unity. But it just so happens that His plural Name Elokim is 10 dimensional, however that can be understood.
God is a musician, and all of existence is his greatest symphony. It really is beautiful. You and I are just a note in a song. And yet without us, the song would not be the same.
Without a doubt; music will be about the only hurrah I give to whatever is on the other side, but a big hurrah it will be. Dunno if it makes up for cancer, tho, then add mosquitoes and music doesn't stand a chance...
We are also notes that have our own free will, ambitions, and desires, and that fact unfortunately allows us notes to rambunctiously jump all over the musical score and disrupt what would otherwise be a perfect harmony by doing stuff that is wrong. We can try to correct and place ourselves back at our original spot in the right meter of the original score, but we’re just notes on a page. We don’t have a bird’s eye view of the whole musical score. So we need the original Composer to help us correct and place ourselves back in the original spot. Alternatively, we the Composer to help us turn what are musical mistakes into additional lines of harmony that would complement the overall musical score so that what we meant for evil selfishness and vain ambition, the Composer can turn into a good result for His glory.

Most of the times mathematical discovery helps but sometimes even if it is not helpful we mathematicians love it. we love discovering or inventing great concepts and patterns and we love decoding nature.

I don't know that much about the sciences but I appreciate what this man does for the future of our world. The popularization of knowledge, for the sake of development, I think that is a very noble thing to do.
+Joseph Eriksson that´s exactly why scientist are humble on what they found and what they achieve, people like you and your god think that you deserve everything cause you are special snowflakes, and no we are just part of the universe looking into the universe.
Well, it's not the whole mind of God. It's the artistry of God, and His desire to give us a heaven not only filled with wonders to ponder, but with such depth interconnected with the shallow that the shallow catches our attention, and the depth discovered draws us continuously deeper into the definition of His creation and the truth of the utter magnificence of the artistry of His work. That is, fundamentally, why He told us to subdue the earth, and as we do, we obey the will of God and bring glory to Him. In the end, it's not going to matter what people say who don't want to believe in God. In fact, whether or not that even matters to society is subject to radical change at any given period of time. 50 to 100 years from now, society may be taking what we have learned and reveling in its demonstration of the glory of God. Humankind changes. But the glory of God is still seen and remains discovered throughout our changes. God is one that reaps what He does not sow, harvests what He does not plant, and uses both the righteous and the unrighteous for His glory.
Very, very well said. The people standing up and shouting as loudly as they can about the non-existence of God...??? Little children throwing temper tantrums... A strategy that works on some weak-minded parents... However, it doesn't change the reality you describe.
I have been listening to Michio Kaku for so long now and he never once failed to fascinate me with his views. String theory the music of space! This is what I called mindgasm stuff!
Yeah adding to that let's listen to Progressive Metal, and Ambient Metal, Prog-tech, and the likes. Those things gives me a glimpse of the cosmos, please try listening to Pagan's mind(band) - God's Equation, and Celestine Prophecy.

"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this." - Albert Einstein's final word on the subject before he died.
String theory reminds me of J. R. R. Tolkien's The Silmarilion in which the Genesis of Arda (Earth) is created through the musics of Ainur led by Eru Iluvatar and other Ainurs for the Children of Iluvatar, thus universe.
Exactly what I thought when he said the mind of God is cosmic music resonating through dimensions. My respect for the brilliant mind of Tolkien increased once again
Who's to say God didn't create the world with Science? We just call it Science and Math for our own understanding and the studying of this world and beyond.
+tommy John How can god come from nothing? And if he's eternal why can't the same thing that made the big bang happen be eternal? You fucked up big time.
Elias Gergi not really god would have to be the thing, the begging basically.God would have had to always exist. since god is eternal he's not confined to our spacetime dimension. god would have to exist in an eternal plane to then create this complex world filled with evidence of a creator. the same thing that made the bing bang was the creator aka god cause thats where creation sprung into existence

Libertine DeSade Yeah, I was referring to the workload. And another thing: is it hard to understand how things work with how they're explained or do you need a lot of after-school work?
LUVAKAT Indeed. He just didn't have the RAM in the end. Plot twist, god is a sim played by you when you play sims (Hint to play sims(Totally not EA propaganda)).
There is no evolutionary explanation for music. None of the lower animals have it, and it conveys no competitive advantage for human survival. Music can make people weep or bring them to euphoria. Did you ever ponder what movies would be like without music? They would be soulless and bland. All races and cultures on earth have the love of music. So how did it get there and be so powerful? The human love of music is a gift from God. Proof of the existence of God? Mozart. Beethoven. Bach.
What nonsense are you spouting? "There is no evolutionary explanation for comedy. None of the lower animals have it, and it conveys no competitive advantage for human survival. Comedy can make people laugh or bring them to euphoria. Did you ever ponder what movies would be like without comedy? They would be soulless and bland. All races and cultures on earth have the love of comedy. So how did it get there and be so powerful? The human love of music is a gift from God. Proof of the existence of God? Bill Hicks. Carlin. Pryor." Maybe music has no biological evolutionary purpose but it certainly has anthropological purposes. No magic is required to explain music.
Cartoonishly Inept -> I guess my point is how did love of music (and sense of comedy) get incorporated into humans? There is no evolutionary reason. They are just there for no reason (except as gifts from God). They may have purposes, but they are after the fact. It's like the fact that our very existence is a result of the values of universe's physical constants. Just a slight variation of the physical constants (e.g. weak force, strong force) would not allow matter to exist. Who or what set the values of these constants? Questions like these drive atheists crazy. Many are still being driven crazy the fact that the universe had a beginning (discovered in the 1920s by Hubble). They were "deniers" until 1961 when Wilson and Penzias discovered the Cosmic Microwave Background. Theories like Multiverse theory are attempts to explain away these issues, but there is no evidence of their truths. They have their leaps of faith and God believers have their leaps of faith.
Cartoonishly Inept -> There are many successful movies and forms of entertainment without comedy. As a matter of fact, many successful forms of entertainment convey total hopelessness. Music is added that amplifies this hopelessness.
+jerimiah stephens But God isn't an entity "in" our universe; that's a typical misconception of what God is (at least from a traditional Christian perspective). He created the world ex nihilo and this creation includes space and time. Therefore, God must exist (somehow) outside of space and time ... He cannot be part of space and time (hence His "brain" cannot be space).
jerimiah stephens Yes. I don't expect everyone to agree - and I'm ok with that. I'm just stating the perspective of traditional Christianity (Catholicism, specifically). It is interesting though ... because this perspective does provide an answer the (otherwise) vexing question of why we can't see God or measure His existence empirically; He exists somehow outside of our space-time. Cheers.
That is a very Tolkien description of the universe "The mind of God we believe is cosmic music, the music of strings resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace. That is the mind of God." From JRR Tolkien's The Silmarillion "Before the Creation, Eru Ilúvatar made the Ainur or "holy ones". The Universe was created through the Music of the Ainur or Ainulindalë, music sung by the Ainur in response to themes introduced by Eru. This universe, the song endowed with existence by Eru, was called Eä"
Tolkien's stories are based on the Bible. He and C.S. Lewis were friends. Their stories were analogies of the Bible. Aslan and Aragon are representations of Jesus. Jesus is described as the Lion of Judah, the King of kings. If you haven't read the Bible I recommend you do so. You'll see the comparisons.
God doesn't have to be some made-up bearded man character sailing around Earth and watching our every move at all times. God is all that is, the framework of our very existence, and if knowledge is power and God is all-powerful, then seeking as much knowledge of this framework as possible is to become as close as one can possibly get to God. ... Whoa.
***** hahaha It was just a passing thought, really, but now that you mention this, I think I'll have to delay the release of my treatise on God to the academic world. :p
Yeah, I understand. I think people may have up-voted my comment only because what it implies is that those of us with at least some degree of curiosity about the workings of the universe or any kind of truth within it or about it are superior to the herd, more god-like or something. I'm not fond of this kind of attitude, but I can't deny that I was made differently than most of the population, with different strengths, none of which include great athletic ability or being the life of the party, if you get my drift. ;-) I'm sure others here can relate.
***** Yeah, yeah, I get all of that. What I meant was that it is easy for intelligent people to become alienated, misanthropic, even depressed and so they may look for any kind of boost of self-esteem they can get, even one as extreme as considering one's self god-like and above most others. Yes, it's true I was born to religious parents and had a very religious friend for a while. I've broken free of that mindset for good now and cannot go back, just as I broke free of mainstream political viewpoints and can never view the the presidency or government in general the same ever again. I'm currently in the process of examining free will vs. determinism. I believe much more in free will, but it's fun to play devil's advocate and challenge that view, just as it's fun to point out all of the contradictions that come with the existence of God by starting a line of thought with "If God exists...". I'm getting pretty tired now and I've gotta take a shit, so I better stop it here before I start rambling. G'night. :p
John Romano so if u gain god's knowledge aka the knowledge of the unvierse, multiverse, space and time and so on then ur gonna be god too ? u become as powerful as god ? cuz knowledge is power ? well either way thats what u said is interesting
He's using a Begging the Question fallacy/Circular reasoning by assuming his conclusion. I don't know, therefore god... is an Argument from Ignorance fallacy, and a Argument from incredulity fallacy. Using god to explain gaps in human knowledge is a God of the gaps fallacy. Its a shame someone so knowledgeable about the universe, can't use logic or reason.
Not true. Any of the 4200 human religions, bears the weight of providing the proof that their "gods" exist. It's very simple, sensible thinking actually. Either they have proof or they shut up.
Richard Stauch Thats a shifting the burden of proof fallacy. Atheist don't say "there is no god", Theist, by definition say "there is a god" and haven't met their burden of proof.
Rumford Chimpenstein The CLAIMANT has the burden of proof dumbass, not the respondent. It is up to the claimant to present evidence, in which he has repeatedly refused to do so. rationalwiki.org/wiki/Burden_of_proof
It's amusing how much on the offense nonbelievers are at his words. The man doesn't have the freedom to use God in his expressions without you jumping down his throat? It's like your world crumbles at the mere mention of God. And I already know he doesn't believe God the way I do. For this to be a such a free country, the expression police are sure coming out of the woodwork.
Some atheist (not all of course) are so much against religion and every sort of believe and faith, that they actually became similar to religious bigots. Atheist are often saying that they do not want the believes of others to be "forced" on them. They are saying that some religious people, are annoying people with there believes. And this is true and also understandable. But some atheists, are not really better.
And another question is, why do those who believe God doesn't exists, hates the notion of hearing God in statements, shouldn't their reactions be "meh,so what"? Isn't that similar to "shoving down our throat your (beliefs/opinion/views/perspectives,etc), by being hateful of one mentioning God from one who believes he doesn't even exist?"
Truly maths and physics are interdependent, modern education focus mostly on how to do an age old math problem rather than how to put the concept into action
As a Christian, I really found this very interesting. I know that he was just using the term "God" to describe something very abstract, but I firmly believe that God really created the universe, which would take a massive amount of creativity and ingenuity to do. So in essence, I really believe that God is the ultimate mathematician. It makes knowing Him all that more amazing to think about.
Shahid Afridi Elaborate. The Bible is a set of historical documents recording Israel, Rome, The Middle East, and of civilizations dating before its earliest copies (5th century B.C.). For what reason would there need to be math. The ratio of a circle is mentioned, 3, obviously not actual pi 3.1415926(etc), but that is just what was used to describe the belief of human society at that point. Science is unrelated to it.
@@shahidafridi8560 Gravity was described in the Bible (not mentioned because it wasn't even named yet because it hasn't been "discovered" yet) way before it was discovered: Job 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
If God is the creator of the universe, to study the universe, you must think like God. The language of the universe is mathematical in nature and its a language all physicist on earth understand regardless of their origin.
Professor Kaku, In your Astronomy101 at City College 20 years ago, you had asked how embarrassing it would be if your[us, the students]kids ask ‘mommy, why do winds blow?’ and we had no answer. I’m glad I found you here, now I can share the link with my child and pretend I know all the things you talk about since I already did take your class!! 😎👍🤩 It’s been a great privilege being able to sit and listen to your class in person!
Using phrases like "The mind of God" can be misleading for people who aren't familiar with what the expression means within scientific circles. I remember when I used to feel happy that Stephen Hawking talked about God, therefore my belief couldn't be ridiculed by others.
So I guess for example; Isaac Newton, isn't included in scientific circles. Since the guy who invented Calculus, wrote more theology books then he did science books. It seems like your excluding great scientists from your circle, so that you can say scientists don't believe in a god.
Newton lived in a very different time before we knew a lot of the things we know now. The most obvious example is evolution through natural selection which did away the need to invent a god to explain seemingly intelligent design. I didn't say "Scientists don't believe in god" - I said that I wish people wouldn't use a phrase that means 1 thing amongst scientists and something completely different amongst non-scientists.
I just remembered the topics I learned in our philosophy class about the existence of God. Might well just shared it. :) St. Thomas Aquinas: Quinque Viae of proving the existence of God The First Way: Argument from Motion Our senses prove that some things are in motion. Things move when potential motion becomes actual motion. Only an actual motion can convert a potential motion into an actual motion. Nothing can be at once in both actuality and potentiality in the same respect (i.e., if both actual and potential, it is actual in one respect and potential in another). Therefore nothing can move itself. Therefore each thing in motion is moved by something else. The sequence of motion cannot extend ad infinitum. Therefore it is necessary to arrive at a first mover, put in motion by no other; and this everyone understands to be God. The Second Way: Argument from Efficient Causes We perceive a series of efficient causes of things in the world. Nothing exists prior to itself. Therefore nothing [in the world of things we perceive] is the efficient cause of itself. If a previous efficient cause does not exist, neither does the thing that results (the effect). Therefore if the first thing in a series does not exist, nothing in the series exists. If the series of efficient causes extends ad infinitum into the past, for then there would be no things existing now. That is plainly false (i.e., there are things existing now that came about through efficient causes). Therefore efficient causes do not extend ad infinitum into the past. Therefore it is necessary to admit a first efficient cause, to which everyone gives the name of God. The Third Way: Argument from Possibility and Necessity (Reductio argument) We find in nature things that are possible to be and not to be, that come into being and go out of being i.e., contingent beings. Assume that every being is a contingent being. For each contingent being, there is a time it does not exist. Therefore it is impossible for these always to exist. Therefore there could have been a time when no things existed. Therefore at that time there would have been nothing to bring the currently existing contingent beings into existence. Therefore, nothing would be in existence now. We have reached an absurd result from assuming that every being is a contingent being. Therefore not every being is a contingent being. Therefore some being exists of its own necessity, and does not receive its existence from another being, but rather causes them. This all men speak of as God. The Fourth Way: Argument from Gradation of Being There is a gradation to be found in things: some are better or worse than others. Predications of degree require reference to the “uttermost” case (e.g., a thing is said to be hotter according as it more nearly resembles that which is hottest). The maximum in any genus is the cause of all in that genus. Therefore there must also be something which is to all beings the cause of their being, goodness, and every other perfection; and this we call God. The Fifth Way: Argument from Design We see that natural bodies work toward some goal, and do not do so by chance. Most natural things lack knowledge. But as an arrow reaches its target because it is directed by an archer, what lacks intelligence achieves goals by being directed by something intelligence. Therefore some intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to their end; and this being we call God.
Unfortunately that argument: 1. Doesn't point to a PARTICULAR god/s 2. Doesn't prove the existence of a sentient god/s, could be just a rock And why can't there be an infinitum? What's the end of Pi?
Amazing! This reminds me of the scientist Tom Campbell, you may want to visit his youtube channel. his MBT theory is about our universe being a virtual reality and that's why it seems so mathematical. His explanation to our existence blew my mind.
Yes, Tom is definitely on the correct path of understanding. And when you discover who God is you will discover who YOU are. Spoiler alert: You are not an animal with a head and arms and legs. That is an illusory caricature of what you ARE NOT. We call it the human ego, and the Bible calls it the "devil" and "satan." All is explained in "The Book of God," which can be read in less than ten minutes on the website: A Course in Truth. Elijah has returned.
What hope can a single dimensional being have to understand the acts of a human, What hope does a human that is confined by time and space have to understand a being that lives exists in 11 dimensions? The wealth of knowledge that still awaits humanity is hard to imagine but it is a scientist's job to at least scratch the service so we can all be amazed every time.
Toe MailMan Kinda the point I tried to make :D a single dimensional being would struggle to even theoretically understand 2d 3d would be completely ridiculous and a human that lives in 4 know dimensions would be beyond even the most crazy dream or idea.A 6 dimensional being might be able to manipulate time like a child would be able to manipulate clay.
Is it mere coincidence that Tolkien wrote about the Music of Erú as the manuscript for the universe and that string theory models the universe as a great symphony?
nhất thiên minh nguyễn phạm Hey i'm going to preach the Music of the Ainur and The Silmarillion as the true word of God once String Theory gets proved. Other holy texts stand no chance , we can become billionaires lol.
nhất thiên minh nguyễn phạm The Silmarillion is a Bible rip-off (which in no way implies it's not extremely creative and one of my favorite examples of world-building, but there are too many similarities for it to be an accident). And world coming from music or sound appears in fiction all over. It's in the Bible (he said "let there be light" and the sound of that sentence created the world), in Tolkien's work and in Narnia for starters. It's really curious that we get some things quite right when we fantasize.
"For, "Who can know the LORD's thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?" But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ." -1 Corinthians 2:16
And, who talks about christianity at all? There are ~4200 religions out there, no two compatible with each other. Grow up. Citing random books man, what if there were 4000 comments from 4000 books? We could mark them as spam all day trying to get to meaningful comments.
It's rather easy. Not one of the religions can claim a LIVE God. Christianity, having such, can only therefore honestly be described as a way of life. The rest never claim resurrection. Richard Dawkins tried to make that same case, until he was told that he'd never recognize evidence, since he had closed his eyes to it. You have done the same thing. Until you broach that line between honest search and your own predilections, you will wander in the same vacuum. You grow up and we might have a starting point. (note that Dr Hawking has come to the same conclusion as Kaku)
As a second year physics undergrad stund from online course because of global pandemic , I didn’t really understand anything and lost my motivation, but now after watching him talking about god and physics , I got my self back.
5:01 "And when you read the mind of God, we actually have a candidate for the mind of God." My English is limited. What did he mean? Someone please explain.
I knw about hyperspace well, when kaku says the music of dimensions is the hyperspace and its the language of god, I totally got some goosebumps Thank you
Woah... this is really deep. I'll have to have a good think about this one and look into it a lot more deeply,.. especially string theory and the cosmic music thing,.. sounds quite fascinating in fact.
This clown Mishio is annoying. He is talking as if he were Sigmund F. Is Mishio a scientist talking about provable science or this TV/Internet jester talking about fairy tales (such as existence of Gosh, Time travel (via his mom worm hole), etc...? If Gosh is an imaginary figure, why posed stupid question whether was she/he good at math? Can this clown Mishio prove that Gosh existed?
Choosing religion or science is so fucking one sided. Both can coexist in ones mind, such as mine. People who insult other people for believing in God are just as narrow minded as the people who don't believe in Gravity.
Logan M judge my belief, and it's hypocrite to say something and do the opposite , I'm not judging and you judge but don't worry I like being judged and the bible asks us to judge righteously. The Bible is word of God and God never lies .
I don't get the string theory, or how their can be more than 3 dimensions. You would think a 4th dimension would be related to position: 1d is a line (X), 2d is a plane (X,Y), 3D is an object (X,Y,Z) but how does a 4th dimension become time, which doesn't describe position?
That cosmic purpose Kaku is talking about? The mind of god? This symphony of the universe he is talking about? Hopefully it will never stop... Once it does, Azathoth will consume all.
I agree with Mr. Kaku that g d is a mathematician being able to statistically predict the creation and formation of billions of objects and their purpose using only a handful of raw materials (elementary particles of the atom). Thank you.
"A universal intelligence" is something fundamentally different than a deity from a war-torn region on a small planet somewhere in the outskirts of an average galaxy.
yeah, i don't think most theists believe in a 'deity from a wartorn region on a small planet somewhere in the outskirts of an average galaxy.' God isn't an old man with a white beard sitting on a throne and dishing out lightning bolts to sinners.
Definitions : According to me. Physics: knowning a simple problem and to raech its root just thinking on it. Mathematics: solving the problem what we thought . So we can't prioritize none of the just can deferenciate b/w both both are equal .
Just read and understand the Quran for once. To those that are gonna attack this comment, do yourself a favor and read the Quran and understand it too, rather than arguing here don't waste your time here.
***** 1) That's more of a philosophical issue though. What I drew from Kaku's 'lecture' is that God is the structure of the universe itself, the numbers, the order, so on. Is the order what creates everything as we know, or did everything we know create the order? 2) Either way, it comes from what Michio says, and although I have LOTS of respect for Michio, he doesn't know the answer either. No one does.
ALLAN KAMBINDAMA There is God but just not as some people picture him. God is not a person, God is Energy. Think about it, time has no beginning and no end, meaning that there has always been there, and it will always be there. Another thing, energy can not be created, meaning that it has always been there too. The problem here is that what religious people call God, science calls nature, but at the end of the road is the same thing.
SoyGuapoYRico That is quite possibly the most stupid thing I have ever read. First off, time did have a beginning and does have a suspected end (depending on the 'shape' of the universe), so already I know you have no idea what you're talking about. So you're defining god as anything that has always existed? You're completely changing the definition of god. You're saying (incorrectly) that energy has always been there, therefore energy is god. Religious people wouldn't call that god and science would hardly call that nature.
watch this series of videos watch?v=JkxieS-6WuA, it might help you understand, string theory is not something that can be explained in a few lines of text

Smonjirez I was looking for a direct answer to my question which I found elsewhere. And guess what, I didn't have to learn string theory! I still understood, but thanks for every ones attempt anyway.
@@josephsack4918 i know why but their point is absurd i think its illogical to say that lotr = bible just because they both contain stories doesnt mean the stories are false. Thats an illogical fallacy. Its at least ridicolous. And i think it is sad that these atheists and mega sceptics arent intellectually honest. Ironically most of these sceptics arent sceptic about their own beliefs.
@bucu2003, Poop Snake asserted something to be true. @nebulocity is asking for proof. @nebulocity does not need to prove the contrary. If I say I can fly , you do not need to prove I can not. The weight of proving my assertion is on me.
+bucu2003 Noone is talking about god - even Kaku means it allegorically. That we are now finding the very fundamentals of the universe. It doesn't mean a sentient god that you imagine it to be. It doesn't have to be organic, living, thinking, intelligent, anything like that. Just the collection of the most basic materials. And here come people saying really cringing things like "ermm god spoke, so ya, vibration make sense". After the fact, of course. After science does all the work to hint at string theory, only for religious to reap the rewards in a desperate attempt.
"The mind of God we believe is cosmic music, the music of strings resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace. That is the mind of God." - Wasn't this idea first proposed in recent times by J. R. R. Tolkien? But its a centuries old idea. Scientists are catching up with it a bit late. As it has always been, philosophy is always few step ahead of science. We should learn to make a distinction between "discovering" a fact and "proving" the fact, two different things. Philosophy discovers things, maths & physics eventually prove them. Seems like we coming close to proving God' existence. Then what? :)
Then what? That day will never come I believe. It is not meant to be known in my opinion. String theory, well, is a THEORY!! Can't prove it, just like we can't show you what GOD looks like. They still can't explain what or how a "Singularity" works, much less prove an 11th dimension super string theory.... Nor can they explain what or how particles even come to be down past gluons and quarks. If you have that answer sir, I'll be the first one to recommend the Nobel Prize with your name on it.
One more thing, If we knew the mind of GOD, then GOD wouldn't be much of a GOD then would he?I highly doubt he would give out his favorite Recipe just like your moms special sauce!
Chris Zimmerman God is useless and the people who pretend to know his mind then contradict themselves and say no one could possibly know anything about god... what a joke.
When you speak of god the same way Einstein does, it's going to mislead Creationists. "Look! See? The super intelligent Michio Kaku believes in God! Anyone who doesn't obviously isn't as smart as he is."
lostn65 mate what? I'm a Christian and for a second I don't believe that, he never once said he believed in God throughout the duration of this video. I don't believe that he believes in God at all, the purpose of this video was to say, "what if" not "he is" and that "if" is dependant on wether or not he even is real, considering there is no proof, and it can't be proven. But yeah I sort of get what you mean, Christians are way too pushy and it's pretty annoying, especially when they force their beliefs and jump to conclusions when they see somebody from the scientific community even suggest the reality or non reality of God.
As a muslim, i always happy seeing people that is looking for the existence of God or the non existence of God. Some of them are just normal, some of them are very clever. Caleb says, Christians are way too pushy, muslim preachers do so too pushy...i.e Zakir Naik. I cant dislike Zakir Naik since he is a good muslim preacher, but i do think he is a little too pushy.
Expanding of universe, black hole, neutron star, age of universe, relativity, speed of light, multiverses, the big bang, don't you think qur'an is not compacted to our modern knowledge?, there is one ayah will predict the nature of universe i don't want to tell the verse, just search for yourself, this is one of the rarest and not many muslims are know!, the astronomy and cosmology is in the qur'an, as muslims (terorist? lol) we should think this is our asset to gain the closeness to the god with the most and only unique religion in the world who support science including the evolution that i somewhat believe.. Quran is the only word of god
We were told thousands of years ago within scripture that the physical nature we see today was never made out of physical elements that are visible...Glad science is shifting gears along with what Nikila Tesla said decades ago about focusing on energy, frequency and vibrations which are they keys to understanding the universe. "By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." - Hebrews 11:3 "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse" - Romans 1:20 God's eternal power and divine character are known and clearly seen by the things He has made.
It's amazing that the universe created beings like us to think about itself, to observe itself. At some point we'll create a simulation of the universe and the beings within this simulated universe will create their own simulation - and so on and so on. Another singularity. ^^
IMHO the Reality is we live on earth, observe part of it and the "universe" comprehend some of it nonetheless unable to comprehend everything we know at the same time; we forget so do not remember exactly what has gone before. The simulation we created (programmed) do not think, with enough resources we can program it to mimic thinking and still it can not, as it is not alive; the computer is a "finite state" machine; we comprehend the infinite and when young we dream of forever, however we are mortal, so we die and have the need to breed to carry on. We are like ants, ants do what it is made and programmed to do; it did not function outside of its design, it does not fly like a bird or swim like a fish, it is not an individual, independent of its nest. We also do what we are made and programmed to do; and do not function outsie of what is intended.
Zain Ashiq Indeed but the theory fails to provide a valid cheat code ^^ Or wait, maybe.... >god mode on *Unknown command: god* >damn *Unknown command: damn*

I have a question: Time stops for anything travelling at the speed of light and it can only travel through space not through time. Light travels at the speed of light so how can light travel in time. Light takes time to reach from sun to earth so how can light get time to reach from sun to earth? Please answer my question, I'm very curious about it.
No one answered your question? The one travelling at the speed of light takes no time, arrives at the time he or it leaves. To an observer the effect will be different depending upon the speed he is travelling and the gravity, or push from space if you prefer, that he is experiencing. If you travel away from earth at a percentage of the speed of light your experience of time will be different to the experience of those left on earth. If you travel faster than the speed of light you will get to your destination before you left earth.
It's sad that I can't watch a Michio Kaku video without seeing idiots debate about religion in the comment section. I don't care if you believe in a higher being or not, if you think you have to start a illogical debate about whether or not God exists, you're a moron. I'm Christian, but you don't see me going around acting like a cheeky neck-beared scrublord about it. Why can't we all just relax and come together in the power of knowledge. "Mathematics is the alphabet with which God has written the universe". ~ Galileo Galilei.
This guy gets it. I see the fanatics here saying that math is fake and humans created time and numbers. It's scary. nowhere in the bible does it say math is bad, and math isn't trying to pull you away from God.
That doesn't prove the existence of nothing. He is referring god as the cosmic higher-dimension in which the string theory implies with correspondence with everything there is. Who knows if this 'everything' was just a mere infinitely small portion of literal infinity?
Just so everyone is on the same page, when this dude says "God", he doesn't mean the Christian God. LIKE DEAR LORD, WATCH THE VIDEO. He bases this idea of "god" off of String Theory, saying that the "mind of god" are these strings resonating and playing what he cleverly calls "cosmic music" through 11th dimensional hyperspace, and that these strings are the eternal mind behind the language of math. He uses the term "god" as an easily accessibly term to define what it is that has created the laws of the universe since the beginning of time and forever. Really, there should be no religious debate here. This is not about religion, this is about physics, this has nothing to do the Christian God or any other religious Deity. Props to Michio Kaku for using a word that would be understood (or grossly misunderstood) by a larger number of people than more scientific terms, and to Big Think for this video title which certainly pulls in a lot of video views and people looking for a debate.
Einstein talks about curve space as a cause of gravitation in the General theory of Relativity , By which he means gravity only exists when a mass bends the space. But what about the gravity which existed when there were no masses there were only radiations and dust particles. When there weren’t any space time curvature but yet still gravity existed which was a result of nebular theory regarding the formation of the solar system
There is God but just not as some people picture him. God is not a person, God is Energy. Think about it, time has no beginning and no end, meaning that there has always been there, and it will always be there. Another thing, energy can not be created, meaning that it has always been there too. The problem here is that what religious people call God, science calls nature, but at the end of the road is the same thing.
This universe is constrained by time and we consume energy to live. Consumption of energy is to steal from something else. It is impossible for an all loving God to create an existence such as this, therefore... I believe we are a creation of one of "his" creations who he gave free will to. Only through compassion can you begin to see the true wisdom of God. That is why great Buddhists such as the Dalai Lama are so insightful and loving. Christianity was supposed to be compassionate. The messages of Christ are often ignored.
SoyGuapoYRico whether we agree or not, god exists , the only few problems we have is, is he concious? Does he knows his power and do he call himself god? Has he ever revealed himself to us? The other problem is the amount of religion , one has to be true if god exists , otherwise we're left unsure.
That's how the Quran describes God, as energy, eternal... Can't be created nor destroyed. God is everywhere but no where. You can't see him but he's there, always. This would all make sence if you start putting the puzzle pieces
+SoyGuapoYRico I agree, but I think that this energy that has always existed is CONSCIOUSNESS. a TRANSCENDENT MIND, outside of space and time because space and time didn't exist before the Big Bang. Also, with all due respect but who actually believes God is a person? I don't think anyone actually believes that, unless I am mistaken.
+XxDtownxX That is comical, the Quran is eloquently written, and if you know anything about the law of vibration you would realize that everything is a vibration of light energy, and that there is a reason why the Holy Quran is recited and spoken into the air via vibrational frequencies. Islam is the truth, and the truth will continue making even more sense as we continue to attain knowledge. Just go read about the 99 names of Allah, aka UNIVERSAL CONSCIOUSNESS and you will realize that Islam's interpretation of God or the transcendent MIND/THOUGHT outside of space and time goes along with everything being said in this video. You sir are an idiot, and I have realized at this point that the Holy Quran not only guides doers of Good to Islam, but actually misguides doers of bad away from Islam. Chances are you have an overabundance of masculine energy. You are basically riding with the devil on a subconscious level and don't even know it.
Wiki says that Isaac Newton and Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz independently developed the theory of infinitesimal calculus in the later 17th century. In the 10th Century Persian mathematician Muhammad Al-Karaji worked to extend algebra still further, freeing it from its geometrical heritage, and introduced the theory of algebraic calculus. The work of al-Khwarizmi, namely the beginnings of algebra the precursor to calculus? Calculus is really just one additional step beyond algebra and trig. Calculus is algebra and trigonometry. SICC MADE Artist, Mathematician, Musician, Beauty, flowers, trees, sky, stars.... The whole Universe!!!!
You may be a rational person, but many are not. God and Science should not be in the same conversation.

Did you ever ponder what movies would be like without music? They would be soulless and bland. All races and cultures on earth have the love of music. So how did it get there and be so powerful? The human love of music is a gift from God. Proof of the existence of God? Mozart. Beethoven. Bach.
Best comment ever.
What nonsense are you spouting?
"There is no evolutionary explanation for comedy. None of the lower

Maybe music has no biological evolutionary purpose but it certainly has anthropological purposes.
Music is added that amplifies this hopelessness.
what if space is just "God's" brain and he is only imagining all of us
U just killed me!!!
+jerimiah stephens I actually believe that to a certain extent...
Well that's just like your opinion man. Albeit an in-depth and just as plausible Scenario, I do not agree.
jerimiah stephens Yes.
That is the mind of God."
From JRR Tolkien's The Silmarillion "Before the Creation, Eru Ilúvatar made the Ainur or "holy ones". The Universe was created through the Music of the Ainur or Ainulindalë, music sung by the Ainur in response to themes introduced by Eru. This universe, the song endowed with existence by Eru, was called Eä"
That's a brilliant observation, thanks for pointing that out.
Holy shit! This means Howard Shore is god???
Pretty much this: Ainulindalë is beatiful.
One more thing, the Bible mentions music and light as part creation. And it talks of the Music of the spheres.
5:06 probably the most profound statement/explanation to come out of science/physics/mathematics. Kaku is a super genius and true visionary
G'night. :p
John Romano so if u gain god's knowledge aka the knowledge of the unvierse, multiverse, space and time and so on
then ur gonna be god too ? u become as powerful as god ? cuz knowledge is power ? well either way thats what u said is interesting
John Romano God is the creator of all
I am fairly sure that he just described the Force.
Those who argue, "There is no god, therefore ..." are the ones assuming a conclusion. Prove there is no god, and we'll talk some more.

Yes there is something
It's amusing how much on the offense nonbelievers are at his words. The man doesn't have the freedom to use God in his expressions without you jumping down his throat? It's like your world crumbles at the mere mention of God. And I already know he doesn't believe God the way I do. For this to be a such a free country, the expression police are sure coming out of the woodwork.
Freedom of expression doesn't mean you have to agree with them, dipshit.
+Ed Smelly Oh, are you referring to the Freedom to LIE??
Some atheist (not all of course) are so much against religion and every sort of believe and faith, that they actually became similar to religious bigots. Atheist are often saying that they do not want the believes of others to be "forced" on them. They are saying that some religious people, are annoying people with there believes. And this is true and also understandable. But some atheists, are not really better.
I respect you too much to respect your silly beliefs.
1:40 - a normal person would say, that you sit in this chair because it's comfy.
Bible has Mathematical errors and contradictions
Shahid Afridi
Elaborate.

I remember when I used to feel happy that Stephen Hawking talked about God, therefore my belief couldn't be ridiculed by others.
... so are you going to explain what it means in scientific circle or not??
"Then we shall know everything" - www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/atheism/people/dawkins.shtml
TheRationalizer That is true, and after watching the video I would be surprised if the sentiment Kaku said wasn't more then poetic use of god.
I just remembered the topics I learned in our philosophy class about the existence of God. Might well just shared it. :)
St. Thomas Aquinas: Quinque Viae of proving the existence of God
The First Way: Argument from Motion
Our senses prove that some things are in motion.
The Second Way: Argument from Efficient Causes
We perceive a series of efficient causes of things in the world.
The Third Way: Argument from Possibility and Necessity (Reductio argument)
We find in nature things that are possible to be and not to be, that come into being and go out of being i.e., contingent beings.
The Fourth Way: Argument from Gradation of Being
There is a gradation to be found in things: some are better or worse than others.
The Fifth Way: Argument from Design
We see that natural bodies work toward some goal, and do not do so by chance.
Most natural things lack knowledge.
But as an arrow reaches its target because it is directed by an archer, what lacks intelligence achieves goals by being directed by something intelligence.
Therefore some intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to their end; and this being we call God.
interesting read, thanks :)
Great thoughts! Thanks
Apo Ellhnes tis pirane. Great knowledge!
Unfortunately that argument:
1. Doesn't point to a PARTICULAR god/s
2. Doesn't prove the existence of a sentient god/s, could be just a rock
And why can't there be an infinitum? What's the end of Pi?
Infinity may be absurd, but so is quantum physics, but they are real.
That, "pushing of space" idea is clearly visible on LSD.

Probably.
nhất thiên minh nguyễn phạm Hey i'm going to preach the Music of the Ainur and The Silmarillion as the true word of God once String Theory gets proved.

This video just blew my mind! So THERE IS A GOD who designed and calculated the whole universe?
No.
Angus King LOL you clearly have no idea about science. Time has no beginning you idiot.
Basically you have to understand and speak the language of each dimension to access it.

So why can't Zakir Naik cannot go back to India if he is a good muslim? how about Singapore? good muslim my fucking ass
We were told thousands of years ago within scripture that the physical nature we see today was never made out of physical elements that are visible...Glad science is shifting gears along with what Nikila Tesla said decades ago about focusing on energy, frequency and vibrations which are they keys to understanding the universe.
"By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." - Hebrews 11:3
"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse" - Romans 1:20
God's eternal power and divine character are known and clearly seen by the things He has made.
We also do what we are made and programmed to do; and do not function outsie of what is intended.
.
+eXtremeDR theres a theory that we (the universe) is a simulation itself created by higher dimensional beings.
Zain Ashiq Indeed but the theory fails to provide a valid cheat code ^^
Or wait, maybe....
>god mode on

Who then create those [higher dimensional beings], is there infinite loops of higher beings creating each other? Doesnt make sense.
What need to make sense is [Why everything exist in the 1st place]. That is to exist, [existance].
The name [Is], [Am] denotes [existience] vs [non-existence].
(1)
Then [rules/logic] ie [laws] come in existence; this is also where unit, entities, points in mathematic comes from, bases on logic; thus also the creation of [time].
(2)
Those support [meaning], where [Word] is based; which is also bases of our thoughts.
The owner [a meaning] of All that [Is], is term [G-d].
Is God a mathemetician? Among other things, yes.

Actually God is a programmer with a very good computer.
That......scares me. If he doesn't pay the electrical bill we're screwed.
Just have to hope he made a backup :))

Pigeons and free energy that's a catchy slogan.

I have a question:
Time stops for anything travelling at the speed of light and it can only travel through space not through time.
@rock WCG mine only travels at .8w, where did you have yours measured?
Dr Gravity no
From the perspective of the photon time doesn't pass but from the perspective of an observer like you or me on the earth it does.
@@r_se correct, it's all relative and almost beyond comprehension to the simple human mind.

Consisting of only four comments, including my own, this is the best thread I have ever witnessed.

if god doesn't exist explain pizza pops?
Thank GOD for that GREAT man !! (y) Its GREAT to see him prove the existence of God !
That doesn't prove the existence of nothing. He is referring god as the cosmic higher-dimension in which the string theory implies with correspondence with everything there is. Who knows if this 'everything' was just a mere infinitely small portion of literal infinity?
@@shuddho1997 . Look I cannot help if you dont SEE IT. He proved God very clearly. You need to accept it and get on with it.
@@jpavlic9115 I'm an atheist, you should know it brother, nothing serious.

@@shuddho1997 Atheism Is Foolish.
"Is math related to science though?"
Every phenomenon in this universe is formulated using mathematics. There is mathematics to everything I guess.

@@selftaughtentertainment1893 he was quoting Katy perry when she said “is math related to science?” to Neil degrasse Tyson.
Michio Kaku can explain any thing to layman 👍👍👏👏
