One night I awoke from deep sleep to the tune of this song playing,it just left me frozen.
My theory is that this video revolves around the river Styx. In Ancient Greek people believed that Styx was the passage between life and death, where the ferryman Charon took people across the river to Hades. .
My guess is that the last shore of a lifespan is at the shore of the river. And the guy in the rowboat is Charon, watching the dead people at the shore. You can somewhat imagine how they died through the static scenes.

Willem Cohen Source? I hear it as "at the last shore, of a lifespan". Most lyric sites indicates that to be correct as well. Only Genius and a few other sites claim that it's "shot".
Gleidur I think you just answered your own question... of course I use Genius for my lyric searches! They're the only site that can be moderated by the artist, they care the most about getting the lyrics right. (I also definitely hear it as shot and not shore btw)
I'm sorry, but a-z and metrolyrics often get the lyrics wrong, especially on foreign songs.
Considering that there's no other reference to the mythology your referring to, I wouldn't assume that they shot the video in conjunction with this concept... Most songs don't follow their lyrics literally when shooting the video.
To each their own I guess.
Gleidur Also, the land on the side of a river is called a "bank" not a "shore". The term shore is reserved for large, non-flowing bodies of water.
