First Neil, I just found your channel and love it. I'm a new subscriber but look forward to your upcoming topics.
Second, even if you're not a DIYer but just buy a boat with a lithium system, being able to understand monitoring it can seem daunting. Then, like Jeff said, trouble shooting a lithium system that malfunctions is far more complicated. Either way, buy or build yourself, do your homework. I'm a DIYer that has built my own camper, not a boater. That said your discusion on wiring is one that EVERYONE in the RV industry needs to hear. Most RVer's are not just using welding wire but use solid core house wiring for 120V systems and the're standard answer is "it's industry standard". These people then claim to be "professional" builders. The boat industry is decades ahead of the RV industry.

I have 3 120Ah lead acid batteries. If the boat is moored and not used for a month is it ok to leave the battery charger switch on.

For a month I would disconnect them completely after ensuring they are fully charged, the discharge will be tiny assuming they are in good condition. Check that everything is disconnected though, bilge pumps are a common missed item.

@@pete9501 Thank you for your reply. Everything turned off except bilge pumps as she is still in the water.

@@mjg.photography Do you now what they draw in standby? That might be a problem.

@@pete9501 Sorry no I don’t. I am not able to get to the boat now so I will have to keep my fingers crossed they haven’t completely drained.☹️

@@mjg.photography I have the opposite problem, 300w of solar supplying two batteries and can't access the boat to check them either :-(
