That last moment is viscerally profound when looked at with the focus on spaces. A movie about one house in one city, with so many pivotal moments in tight closed spaces, ending with a vast and empty bay with the destination of a whole ocean... That's terrifyingly beautiful.
Such a cool structure for this topic. And thanks for acknowledging that Jimmie can't lay a direct claim to the house - that the house was occupied at least once before, including by Japanese immigrants to SF who were forcibly removed. IMO it adds an interesting additional layer to the story of places and who owns them, by suggesting that no-one ever really owns a place and layers of persecution/deprivation can conceal those claims. And that ending I also heard the suicide theory about - I think your take makes more sense in the context of the film. Jimmie's got nothing, but he's also free; an implicit answer to the question 'what do you do when you love your city, but it doesn't love you back?'
5:27. Renting isn't really all that bad, although it isn't the best feeling renting apartments, it's better for the environment compared to single family homes. (also your essay was very awesome :D)
This video is awesome! I am writing an essay on this film and your words have helped me flesh out my thoughts on the characters connection to the setting!
The way you caught the movie and your own interpretations in the video almost feels like it’s own masterpiece of a story. Very touching, loved everything about it
Don’t expect this to get too much traction with the algo, so if you enjoyed, please share. Would be appreciated ❤

Eloquently put.
