Next video (as I teased in this one) should be about the Bag of Milk games. Stay updated on Patreon, plus get some of the original music featured in this video ✌🏾 www.patreon.com/kaiafterkai
I really appreciate your distinction between when it should be understood to put in a trigger warning vs when they aren't as necessary, I feel like people who don't have certain traumas might feel like it is a daunting task to try and list "every possible phobia" in a trigger warning, but it doesn't have to be like that
A lot of the discussion about trigger warnings seems fallaciously predicated on “people don’t want to engage with challenging ideas” when first and foremost trigger warnings are to allow people to give informed consent when it comes to things that might be so challenging that they cause severe distress. If you’re not in the head space to engage with certain things, you’re not going to get anything out of them but sadness and a panic attack or something. What these mostly cis/het white guys complaining about trigger warnings seem to believe is that they have some sacred right to force people to engage with what they have to say on their terms, in some sense it’s an extension of our culture of endemic SA, a total dismissal of consensuality!
Chef's kiss no notes 10/10!!!! Hyphenated History sent me your way and I'm so glad she did. Now I have the perfect little video to send to people when I'm too drained to have the long-winded back and forth myself. ^_^
I think the fundamental problem with this debate of "to warn or not to warn" as you call it, is people assuming that warning people about sensitive subjects automatically means it *has* to be a "trigger warning". One of my favorite shows, "YOU" deals with issues of physical violence, drug abuse and suicide. And guess what you see as soon as you turn on an episode on Netflix? A MPAA rating for the show, and the sensitive subjects it covers. We have trigger warnings for every form of media with the MPAA, ESRB, etc. (Here in America at least) The phrase "trigger warning" has lost all meaning like everything else that gets overused on the internet. But people gotta wake up and realize it's important to tell people when a show is gonna cover sensitive subjects. It doesn't have to be an in-your-face wall of text, just maybe make the rating/subjects covered more obvious. Boom. Problem solved.
I can see why he would see things that way, though. No one was canceled for trigering someone's actual trauma or, at the very least, it isn't very well known that someone's career was ruined by triggering someone who had actual trauma, the way he sees it, trigger warnings are only there to appease the emotionally and psychologically weak individuals within society, those who can't handle some words because negative emotions equate to trauma for them. He's obviously wrong, but as someone with a similarly inconsiderate personality, i can see why he would see things that way.
You speak facts, facts that are ABOUT feelings. Do you think Ben Rogan Peterson types would appreciate a trigger warning when something like this happens again?
No I paid attention, but the world exists buddy. Coddling the world is ridiculous, we already have ratings for this reason. PG-M-MA-R18+. Any extra is unnecessary
Whilst I dont think I was ever dismissive or against trigger/content warnings, nothing brought their need, importance, and a deeper understanding of the whole topic into view more than having my life experiences that now require trigger warnings for in related media.

I completely agree with you. Great video! You deserve more attention!
I appreciate that, thank you!
Loving the original music! Great essay, I will be sending it to some friends who don't quite understand the concept.
Honoured 🙏🏽

I've been won over by your charm. Subscribed. Also, glad I stopped watching SAO after the first season from what you described..
Bravo

Not they would not appreciate being censored
“I want to be put in bubble wrap for my whole life”
Thanks for the comment! I would have preferred you actually pay attention to the video of course, but the engagement is appreciated regardless ^^

Again, would have preferred you actually listen to what I was saying, but the continued engagement is still welcome. Have a good day! 🙏🏽
Oh damn should I have said trigger warning before insulted you?
Appreciate you asking, but no, that's fine 😊
A comedy it appears. Falling to my expectations. You can be better than this.
