You've hit the mark yet again. You just seem to have the personality for it. And that's the word - you somehow make these videos personal, almost like it's one-to-one. I once stood at the top of a ski slope, in Rovaniemi on the Finnish Arctic Circle, and how anyone could launch themselves down that is beyond me.
Great Video. One thing I noticed about Oslo in this video is that it's very clean lol. No wonder it's one of the most expensive places to go too. Nice to shout out the cabin crew for the journey.
I just had to laugh when the bagpiper stopped playing at 6:15 at the same time as you can hear a jet engine spooling down in the background. Perfect timing!
Thank You, Thank You for all your travels. I'm 76 with mobility issues and can't get around that much any more. Your videos are just the ticket to allow my mind to wander a wee bit. You and Alicija are so perfect that I feel almost like family. I hope I spelled her name right. I loved your Warsaw trip as I'm Polish and would love to see my Grandparents home country. Again Thank You.
The skijump in Lillehammer is also worth a visit. The Olympic games in 1994, the jump was new buildt for the OL . Lillehammer is a very nice , small town. Beautiful nature. Train from Oslo , passing Mjøsa, the biggest lake in Norway, and passing Eidsvoll and Hamar
The pictures of the approach to Oslo airport were just stunning! 🤗 And that complementary wash was actually a good service! Maybe Scottish Rail should open a line to Oslo as well if their trains are that dirty? 😁
Glad you enjoyed the Holmenkolbane, I’ve walked it several times in rain, sun and snow when my employer installed the signalling about 25 years ago. With gradients up to 1:16 it’s truly a spectacular railway experience.
Nice wee trip that. In fact it's pushed me to take the trip next year. The ferry to Norway is basically a 20 minute drive from my house in NL!!!. I've heard the trains are great in Norway,, especially the Bergen Oslo route. Oslo looked a great welk kept city, looking forward to it already. 👍
loved it , what a bargain the hotel was , love the ski jumping bit too . for the life of me i dont know why this channel does not have 1.5 million subs , its the best channel on you tube .
Guys, the records in this sport depend on the hill. There are smaller ones and the mammoth hills where by default you’re going to fly further. Usually it’s about breaking the record of the particular hill.
One of the things I love about visiting the Scandinavian countries of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark is not just the incredible scenery and beautiful cities and towns, it's also the people. The vast majority are bilingual and unlike Germany, France and Italy, they don't get annoyed or arrogant if you cannot or struggle to speak the native language, they are extremely helpful and friendly too. So even if you cannot speak another language and are nervous about visiting other countries as a result, don't be, just visit the Scandinavian countries where you'll be welcomed. As an addendum, I find The Netherlands to be the same, very warm and welcoming and full of stunning towns and cities and most there are also happy to speak in English too.
Norway is right at the top of my list of places I’d love to visit. Transport there looks so top notch! What a fab trip…can’t wait for the conclusion! ATB
So, Steve, you let poor Alicja go up alone to the top of the fourth bridge with the excuse of afraid of heights 🤢. I think it was the elevator that got you thinking... I’ll send her instead 😂 Another great trip. Thank you for taking us along. Blessings to you both.
Alright Steve. Just seen this as I am 4 miles from Fort William coming down past Ben Nevis. West Highland way almost done. 16 miles today. Am aboot deed. 😂
usual quality blog. i have to giggle at my memories of abz airport from 53 years ago when i was frequent oil worker trash passing through. Back then a growing bunch or white porto cabins. No permanent structure. Biggest place was the bar with about 4 joined mobile cabins. Eatery forget it.
Steve that was so enjoyable. My teenage years were spent in Norway and Sweden. I lived in Oslo for 2.5yrs as a teenager so I was immersed in this video, especially Holmenkollen as I used to ski and sled the slops up there (not the ski jump though). That’s a newer ski jump than when I lived there. Great that they have a viewing platform at the top. Now I yearn to revisit. Thanks so much mate! I am so jealous of your Scandinavian adventures as a teen! I try to put some price info in the video descriptions these days (mainly because I always forget to cover it in the video itself) but yeah, could be more thorough :)
Steve, your videos have got alot better from you first started, more voice over, less music, you visit somewhere, l sit at home enjoying your adventures, have you thought about a trip to Moor of Rannoch tea room, go for a wee walk, sleep in the van, keep up the fantastic episodes,
Went to Oslo some years ago. A really nice clean city, the architecture along Karl Johans Gate to the architecture of a slightly different nature in Frogner park. A very expensive city through

Eddie the Eagle maybe didn't get the greatest distance when he competed but he did it and he deserves respect for that. Oslo is a city that I would go back to but I would also go to see other parts of Norway.
As a Norwegian, I would not recommend taking the airport train (flytoget). The price is 240 NOK (£17-18) one way (not sure how much it was in NOK in September 2022, as the value of NOK fluctuates), while the normal train is 124 NOK (£8-9). The time difference is 1-3 minutes.
Way back when I was a youngster I went on the bus over to Cheltenham with my cousin and sister to watch the movie The Delinquents (Kylie Minogue film). For some reason it wasn't showing in our big cinema in Gloucester so we had to go to the dark side of the Golden Valley. As the bus was heading into Cheltenham along Gloucester Road Eddie the Eagle crossed over the road behind the bus, not on skis though, just on foot. We were all agog, "THERE'S EDDIE THE EAGLE" we exclaimed excitedly. None of the other passengers batted an eyelid!
Here I could actually change my comments from "oh wow" to "oh no, no, no, no, no". Up at the top of that ski jump that's where you got the no no no no no, you almost got something else too but I couldn't put that here. What a beautiful city! And I agree, no wonder it's expensive takes money to stay that pretty. Can't wait for the ferry ride. You know I'm all about the journey. And what a fun thing, to be in a water cannon salute. That actually got a "yippee" out of me! Say hi to Alicja for me. Be well, stay safe, travel far, love from Texas.
Thanks so much Kate! I'm skipping forward a couple of weeks, but just wait until you see the video Alicja filmed yesterday - puts my wee ski jump to shame :D She's a brave girl! All the best and have a great weekend!
Another video Steve that brings back memories of a previous trip I made. To celebrate my mums 60th in 2007 we got ferry from Newcastle to Bergen then train to Oslo, ferry to Copenhagen and flew back to stanstead. We visited the ski jump..only trouble was that the day we went it was misty and raining and when I got to the top I couldn’t even see down to the bottom of the slope!! Was fantastic though! Keep up the good work and look forward to the next video 😃
Yeah. It was run by DFDS but they stopped it September 2008 which was a great shame. From memory the crossing was 26 hours and the last couple of hours along the Norwegian coast was some of the best scenery I’ve seen!
Wonderful tour Steve, lovely scenery. Road, rail and air travel, a wonderful combination. What a reception at the airport for the inaugural flight ( just because Steve was aboard ) ; ) Well done Steve . Thanks for the tour. As usual, another hit.
I love how you always show how fantastic it is to get around by different ways apart from personal automobile!! Oslo looks beautiful, but that ski jump looks terrifying.
I just love the Embraer 145. It's a gorgeously looking plane. Has that "Exec Jet" look to it. 😎 I have been flying many times, but never met by water cannons. Lucky you. 👍
Mornin Steve inaugural flight was spot on and a great welcome 😊Oslo looked kool and metros even better. Forget the ski jump too high for me but your room was just right. Can’t wait til the ferry😉Thx again😘
How timely Steve! I came across a CD (remember them) with photos from Digital Camera (remember them 😂) from my trip to Oslo and Bergen in 2007. We went up to Holmenkollen as part of a day tour that also took in the ship museums and Vigeland Park. We saw the old sky jump, i think it was demolished the next year and replaced with that new modern one. I remember being amazed flying from Oslo to Bergen in mid summer and seeing all the snow topped mountains 😊
Great trip Steve… You have to be a certain kind of crazy to launch yourself off the top of that ski platform… Thanks for sharing and have a great day… 👍
Another adventure underway ..the ski museum was interesting ( love the winter Olympics ). One hears about going to Europe from England for a short break never knew you could do the same Scotland to Scandinavia ....would be more interesting for me ( last visit in the 90's!) Thanks safe travels ( you forgot your basic food travel pack😏😊!) Jan Adelaide
Back in the 80´s, my grandfather crashed his car in the junction you film at 15:08. (only vehicles damaged, nothing serious) That was one of the many times he damaged his cars..... I suspect he was not the best driver 😅
“That’s even more terrifying. It’s about 70 quid” said like a true Scotsman, Steve! Booked to go to Oslo next month with Loganair but from Edinburgh. Cheers again, Steve! Now got some things to add to the list whilst we’re there!
@@JBFlytography From a fellow Scot who now calls Oslo home, I'd recommend downloading the Ruter app - by far the easiest way to get tickets and works on all our public transport (bus, train, t-bane (metro) and ferries). Also, thoroughly recommend taking the train Steve took all the way up to Frognerseteren, the last stop - fantasic views and a great cafe / restaurant at the top too. The walk down the hill, following the 1952 Olympics bobsleigh track, is also well worth it, it goes right past the Holmenkollen ski jump and practice hills.
I did this route quite regularly with BMI Regional 5 years ago. 15 years ago who remembers City Star Airlines with the Dornier 328 Turboprops? Happy Days!
What a fantastic journey this is so far!! I'm really enjoying this one Steve.....lots of things that I love to travel on.....regional jets, fast modern trains & interesting metro lines & this just about covered it all. Oslo is gorgeous....clean & green, looks like a beautiful city for sure......like you, it would be nice to see the ski jump but you wouldn't get me to go down it on a couple of match sticks (I don't ski anyway to begin with) & I'm not sure I'd do the zip line either!! Anyway....thanks again & cheers mate...looking forward to the on-going story on this one!
Cheers Bob! Yeah, really enjoyed this wee trip. Would have liked to cover more of the Metro journey, but I wasn't expecting it to be so beautiful and was caught out being pretty low on battery. Absolutely stunning!

Another fab watch. It seems like all the staff for Loganair are super friendly and know how to greet passengers . 😊
They really are a credit to the airline!
Man, Norway is just ridiculously stunning! 👌
Never a truer thing said!
And ridiculously expensive.
@@EinkOLED Oh come one, it's only £5 for a coffee and £25 for a hamburger. The way things are going in the UK, we'll soon have caught up with them.
Ssssh, keep it secret.
I had an interview for a job in Norway last week.
@@EinkOLED It's about the same prices as most west european capitals.
Great Video. One thing I noticed about Oslo in this video is that it's very clean lol. No wonder it's one of the most expensive places to go too. Nice to shout out the cabin crew for the journey.
The whole place is incredibly clean and like the future :D There's a lot of money in that gorgeous wee country!

Great update Steve , we loved it and can't wait to see the rest , regards to Alicia
It's really clean because there's nothing else to do there except clean.

Can’t wait to see more! Ski jumping is a great winter sport. The current record is 144m at Holmenkollen.
Wow! Thanks so much for that, would love to go back and see it when in use, and even better if there was a big crowd at the bottom cheering them on :)

@@steve-marsh I’d never thought about using the metro either so going to have a look today. Appreciate the inspiration😂
Happy Days!
Ahh I wish I had the chance to fly the 328!
Welcome, and hope you enjoyed Oslo and Norway :)
WHAT A COUNTRY! :)
