I've been making this recipe for a while now and I absolutely love it. I double it, so I can freeze it in small portions. Super satisfying and I feel so good after eating it. Please keep up the great work! I'll continue to try your recipes. You inspire me to cook, which I used to hate doing because it would turn out so blah.
Hi Chef Buck....just finished cooking your wonderful Chili for the first time...tastes great! Thank you for spending your valuable time making the video to teach us how it's made!
LOVE your videos! Yummy recipes + zero annoying factor makes for compulsive viewing. You are the only youtube chef worth subscribing to! Thank you - your recipes are the source of my weekly menus :) - Lots of happy tummies in this house now thanks to you. Lots of universe love dust thrown your way
I made some tonight. Its a keeper. Thank you so much!! I have two dinner's worth now. I'm getting a muscle biopsy tomorrow, and I needed something I can eat with one hand. I will be i a sling for 48 hours. It's an outpatient surgery. To find out why my muscles are weak.
I made this after I tried your cauliflower pizza (which was a winner). This chili came out really good! I've been showing coworkers your videos, good stuff man! Keep up the good work!
+Chef Buck That looks delicious man. We had some tonight my fiance she made some from a recipe online. It was so good. Just got done eating some just now. Its about 11 pm pacific time here so. Your's looks great.
I wish I could share a picture, I just made it and it's awesome!!! I didn't think I'd like the chickpeas but they're good and I added black beans. Video was great , chefs attitude made me try this recipe, fun videos and easy !!
+Lidia Rios glad you liked it, and thanks for the kind words and giving the dish a try. I never thought I'd grow up to be a guy raving about vegetarian chili :^)
I waffle between my vegetarian, pescetarian, and carnivorous phases, but I make this chili dish any time just 'cause plain good--I hope it works for you; it's getting chilly where I live, so I'll be making lots of soups and stews and plenty more of this chili, I'm sure.
Made this yesterday and it was delicious! Instead of chick peas, I used 2 cans of pinto beans. Will be eating this through out the week! Thanks for sharing!
It is on the stove... only thing I did differently is I used fire roasted tomatoes vs the crushed... smells great... will let you know in a couple hours!
Lol...sissy chili! I'm a vegetarian too, and my Dad used to call pretty much every meal I ate "rabbit food". I can see him calling this sissy chili too. Funny:)) I just love your channel. I found you this week, and I'm hooked! I have half of your recipes favorited. Keep it up my friend.
that looks awesome, I always enjoy watching your videos and all the smart ass stuff you say, well you used to say it alot more, but I know that you probably cleaned it up because you have a MUCH LARGER Following now. Congrats Chef
Couple of questions: Can I add corn? Is it okay to use black beans instead of kidney beans? How long do you wait before adding more ingredients? I wasn't sure about the timing on that throughout the video. Thanks for posting! Looks delicious!
TheMicIsMyLover a lot of people like corn in veggie chilis, so definitely add it if you like--I'm not too crazy about corn myself. And use whatever beans you like...I like kidney beans cause they are not overwhelming flavor wise, and they have great texture. Black beans can overpower a dish more than kidney beans--and get softer than kidney beans...that being said, I love black bean soups, so it's really a matter of tastes and expectations with a dish, so if that's what you like, then definitely use black beans. The printable recipe on my website has some times in the text, and there is a written text in the video description with times. thanks for watching!
I am making it right now Chef. Boo boo I bought the wrong squash so i skipped it. I added some button mushrooms in it to add a bit more flavour. It's looking good, smelling good and i bet it will taste good too. Thanks for the recipe Chef.
im planning to cook a big pot and leaving it in the fridge and bringing to the office and microwave for the week. will it be possible for me to leave this in the fridge for a week?
hotpansy well...a week is pushing it for holding in the fridge. Mid-week, I'd throw whatever is left on the stove and bring it to a boil, then let it cool and put it back in the fridge, that way the rest will last out the week.
can you roast the meal with water? i don't use oil anymore because ifen cold-pressed olives oil could be heated. and for myself without salt but salt is not that unhealthy as oil is :) and by the way, a really great meal, thank you for showing this to us (Y)
Heya Buck....I know I'm coming up on this recipe a bit later than some ;) I'm from Texas and yep, if you make beef chili (chili con carne) no beans allowed. There are many who love a good "sissy" chili all over Texas so you have a welcome from me. Sometimes you gotta lay off the red meat but keep the heat. Best to you and CG
Is this vegan too, Buck? My girlfriend is vegan so is love to share this worth her so she can cook it for ME! Looks awesome, man. Keep the videos coming.
Thank you so much Chef Buck for the recipe. I also cook it and uploaded on my UA-cam channel. I just made some changes by using spice mix but the result was satisfactory and so delicioso. If you have time please watch 😊
Oh Buck I am so glad that I found this vid! I am NOT a vegetarian, HOWEVER I have many friends who are and a BIG gathering to go to in 2 weeks. I try to cater to all there which is a real challenge (Carnivores, Vegetarian's, Vegans...Thank Lord the Breatherians take care of themselves. ;-) This will be PERFECT to share. I'll do a big pot of this, and a pot of traditional chili and dinner is served! Thanks Much for sharing. P.S. I must be doing something wrong on the onion spin. :-D
hope you enjoy this recipe...I love a good meat chili, but this is the one I make all the time now--tastes just as good to me, hearty and filling and I don't feel like I'm missing out.
M Alexander glad it worked for you--I can't remember the last time I made a meat chili at home--I find this version to be as satisfying as I need a chili to be. Thanks for watching and giving it a go.
Two questions: What makes this chili vegetarian, as opposed to vegan, and how do you remove the soapy taste from the cilantro in the preparation of this dish?
It is vegan if you follow the ingredient list I have with the written recipe...but it's vegetarian if you go by the photo, since I top it with cheese...or if you use sour cream as a topping that would negate the vegan label as well. And I don't think you can remove the soapy taste from cilantro...here's an article about how loving or hating cilantro might be in your genes gizmodo.com/5942551/genetic-proof-that-you-really-do-hate-cilantro But this recipe will be yummy with or without cilantro.
oh, for sure--any kind of bean is gonna be fine in this dish, although some beans will cook down easier than others and make the dish thicker/mushier, that's why I use the beans I do in this dish, they hold up in the heat and maintain a nice texture
I made this yesterday and it was amazing but the can of baked beans gravy was pretty sweet so I drained them and added it....... You should have seen how my dad's nose was running !!
Mark Thompson hope y'all like it!--this is one of my favorite veggie dishes; I eat plenty of meat, so anytime I can find a meatless option that satisfies me, I'm pretty happy.
***** This was a huge hit. My family ate vegetables that they normally don't eat. I have also made your fish stew which was great as well. I think salmon burgers are up next on my to do list. So glad I found your channel.
Hey, you know what goes really good with peanut butter? Chocolate! Also, since chocolate and mustard go together so well, by the transitive property of equality, peanut butter must go well with mustard. So, also it must be that peanut butter, mustard, chocolate chili has to be good. BTW, why haven't you and CG done a cinnamon challenge video yet? It seems only fitting for a food appreciation and cooking channel to do that.
Add a pound of beef and you've made heaven. Even without the beef -- it looks outstanding. Wrap it in a tortilla and you've got -- yes -- a burrito. Regarding your quote "chilli is all about the beans" -- you just pissed off two-thirds of Texas.
This is still my go to chili recipe. I love it.
It's 3:12 am and I can't stop binge watching your videos . One of my favorite cooking channels 🙌🏼
+Evelin Lazaro thanks! --although part of me feels like I owe you an apology :^)

***** love the recipe and you voice sounds like New Orleans... am I right?!
I lived in New Orleans quite a few years...miss it quite a bit, or maybe I just miss being able to stay awake all night
can you roast the meal with water?
i don't use oil anymore because ifen cold-pressed olives oil could be heated.
and for myself without salt but salt is not that unhealthy as oil is :)
and by the way, a really great meal, thank you for showing this to us (Y)
For what I heard you can water sauté your vegetables. I'm about to give it a try.
You should look into using grape seed oil. Lowest saturated fat of all cooking oils. No cholesterol (actually helps reduce it) etc etc.

I was pleasantly surprised to find myself laughing while learning how to make chili.
Would you recommend this recipe to be a hit for meat eaters? (:
+Ivette ramirez definitely. I'm a meat guy, but I'm just as happy with this veggie chili as a meat chili ...it's got plenty of heft and flavor
You better sissy that chili girl lol 😜😉
Was that a jalapeno or serrano pepper?
+Lisa Higdon can't remember, but I've used just about every kind of pepper in this recipe...whatever you like is the right pepper :^)
This looks absolutely amazing. I'm going to put this together tonight and not going to tell the family there's no meat.
Mark Thompson hope y'all like it!--this is one of my favorite veggie dishes; I eat plenty of meat, so anytime I can find a meatless option that satisfies me, I'm pretty happy.

it's not spicy if your nose isn't running :^)

Dude that stove is crying out for some '57 Chevy taillight wing splash-guards, you can't fake that kind of cool.
Chili is one of the only meals that tastes way better over night! :P
thanks we have a chili cook of contest at school
