...or ever will. To allow a composer to develop motifs and liet motifs that evolve thru a series is almost forbidden on TV. They want the control to fire anybody. Lost would be nothing without Giacchino.
I was hooked on this music right from the pilot. I was becoming a fan of his from Alias but this was something else. His music is poetry in my ears and i forever grateful i was alive to hear it.
I agree too! I heard the music on a site called 'the quite place' and it's what made me watch the show. It's now my favourite show! Nothing can top the music
The amount of tears I shed for LOST is unbelievable... When the plane went over Jack's head and he smiled. That hit me like a tonne of bricks man. The feels right now... :(
For 6 seasons LOST was life. Every week we all turned it on watching, hoping for something amazing to happen and it did. It was a wonderful story that changed the way I watch TV. As a fan of the Red Sox one of my favorite scenes was when Ben shows Jack the Red Sox winning the World Series and the disbelief in his face. To say it was a long 18 months during the writers strike is an understatement as we waited on pins and needles for LOST to come back on. It did and our lives were back to normal. :-) We cheered for the good, yelled at the bad, and cried most of the last episode. The tears were genuine of happiness and then sadness at the end. I can't watch the last episode without crying to this day. It will live on forever in my life and in my heart as the best show ever on TV. God Bless to all my fellow "LOSTies"!
Hiking One Way I was unlucky that I was not able to experience Lost on TV when it aired, but since I watched the final episode about a couple months ago, I wish I could experience something so genuinely beautiful in a TV show, but I never could after that. The cast and characters were so memorable, and every actor played their part so well. Every day after school, I would watch three episodes, and they never seemed to unimpress me. The music made the show much better, and that's why I am here today, watching this video.
I agree completely. I still cry with the music. I watched 3 times complete. And I pretend to watch it again in years to come. (I bought the entire show).
Lost wasn’t just a TV show, it was a life lesson on why we are here, how we should live our lives and how ultimately we can learn to let things go with love in our hearts ♥️
After months of watching LOST, I am finally able to let go. I realize that nothing is more important than to love those close to you and to cherish those bonds. I now know that you should focus on the good things in life no matter how much evil lies behind it. Thank you, Michael Giacchino. You've changed my life.
If I could delete LOST from my memory and watch it again... if I could... :( Omg... that first time, when i saw it... i just fall in love... No, no, it's more than just fall in love... I just bought a new life with that TV show. I love LOST.
You couldn't be more right. How can someone say they were robbed by the lost ending. It was perfect in its own imperfect way, so to speak. What made it so genius was how you couldn't tell what was going on, yet it still made you cry. Now that I think about it though, I think the ending was just a special reward for the people who made the biggest impact in bringing out Jacob's mission.
I don't know why I feel the need to reply to this 9 years later. I re-watch the whole series at least once a year and it never fails. I didn't get all the hate for the ending back then and I don't get it now. It's perfect. Absolutely perfect. What a magical experience.
The LOST has changed my life for ever... And Michael G. has do so. In every his song is a piece of love and beatufil I can not describe. It makes me cry and laugh in the same moment. MY tears are coming down my face, but I smile.
I saw him at Star Trek Live in Concert to day straight he then played some new stuff from the New Apes movie. Wonderful. I think fave TV composer is Murray Gold. SO good.
Hans Zimmer's music is ok to listen to on its own, but as a film composer he really doesn't hold up at all to the likes of Williams, Silvestri, Giacchino, Goldsmith, and many others
I missed Lost. It was my life. All the characters were my family. When I listen "Moving On", I feel like I'll move on with them. It's been 14 years now, but it seems like yesterday.
"There's No Place Like Home" is probably the most beautiful piece of music I've listened to. I honestly cry every time I hear it. It's so sad but almost hopeful at the same time. Makes me miss Lost 😥
LOST is one of my favorite shows ever, Super 8 is one of my favorite movies ever, Up is my favorite animated movie ever....anyone else see a pattern? Giacchino is a musical genius
How incredibe can an acted story and its music be to cause a 36 year old woman break down in uncontrollable sobbing just by listening to the music?! ohhhhhh my days, 😥 what a TV show 💟
We bought LOST, all 6 series and sat down and watched it from start to finish, about 3-4 episodes a night. Life was put on hold, we lay in bed discussing and questioning... what a fantastic series. We loved and hated all the cast at varying times, how well they portrayed their characters... Wonderful, wonderful... it was the first major series the children watched and they learned a lot about story telling, acting and tv series... went straight into Homeland after that but LOST will always be the daddy of them all. Thanks to all involved.
My son at age 5 and I watched (LOST) the whole series intently, of course all the episodes were educational and fun. But my son took a lot to the morals and ethics of it all.
I remember when Lost first came out, my dad and I would watch it religiously and it became our lives for 6 years! I remember us saying "As long as we get to see the end of Lost we will be happy with the lives we have lived!" Such great memories from this show. Nothing can pull at my heartstrings quite as much as a few notes from this music. Memories to last a lifetime, all from one show. Brilliant.
"Labor of Love," combined with what was taking place onscreen in Star Trek 09, brought me to tears in the theatre. It underlined so well George Kirk's love, and his sacrifice to save others.
IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG, DESMOND HUME WILL BE MY COSTANT!!! 2 days ago I just finished watching all LOST for the second time.... the same feeling of sadness of the first time was with me when the last episode ended.... but the show had to end....and the good thing is we can watch it all over again!!!! BUT i REALLY MISS the SHOW.....feel a little LOST!!!!!! GIACCHINO IS GREAT!!!!
When I watch LOST I enter that world with all my heart and I also like that all characters are not perfect and they are all humans, there is no completely good or bad in this show, their worries, their happiness, their fears are also mine:) amazing show
The last season was trash and they all went to unitarian heaven which was stupid. They never explained what the island really was and they ruined Locke's character when they made him die and have his body possessed by Jacob's brother.
You wanted answers and then quickly realized that you were wanting the end of Lost but it was to late and it was gone. All we have left is the music and we can't get enough.
Could not agree more. That's what made Lost so personable. It didn't give you all the answers, it was left to the individuals perception of what it all means, and that is a million miles better then having it all summed up and being told what you should think, and what it does mean. It stirs the imagination. For me the show is about the characters, watching them grow, they almost become part of your family! It sounds crazy but when you think it was on for 6 years it's easy to see why!
Though I too wished that LOST would never end, it had to happen. Like what Christian Shepard said, "Everyone dies". LOST was an amazing show and blew epiphany to epiphany in my mind till the very last scene. We must be happy that LOST was not canceled, rather, it ended with a true ending which connected every single idea and question together. We must let go.
I stopped at the second season my first time watching it and then went back to from the beginning and finished it finally. I had no idea that LOST slowly BLEW MY MIND!!
Michael Giacchino is an amazing composer. He's one of the few composers who can convey emotions with music. His music can go from boisterous and energetic one moment to very sweet and sensitive sounding. He can instantly change the pace with the music in a snap. That's what makes him an amazing composer.
Michael Giacchino is my favourite composer of all time. And I am very lucky to have seen him perform live. His music is just oozing with feeling and emotion, I've never heard anything like it.
I think "let go" theme from the finale was directed to fans. They knew that many of us will be hard to get over this. I kinda still can't. Sometimes I get really sad that there is no more LOST. It was truly an era in television history.
Sculpture Junkie Yep, he is the composer of the new Star Trek films. He pretty much does everything for J.J Abrams, though it's great to hear John Williams will be back for Abrams' Star Wars film. Giacchino agrees. :)
Saddest moments have to be charlies death, and when hugo realises that jack has to die in "the end". this music really brings you to a new place though, it gives you a new feeling

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I searched for the sountrack of Lost, and I didn't notice when it ended and this video started playing because it starts with Lost, then I didn't realize it had changed to Star Trek because I didn't watch it and it's not that different from the Lost soundrack... and then suddenly the cute little piano music of Up... I didn't know what was going on!!
Gumperman - Just wanted to thank you for posting this video. I recently wrote a book called Invetia (available on Amazon :) ) and the final 2 chapters were written whilst continuously playing this soundtrack. It gave me massive inspiration to get over the emotion of characters so THANK YOU!
Why on Earth did they end a show like LOST... It was a great show with a wonderful, believable, and lovable cast with great music by one of the greatest composer of our time, and J.J. Abrams as a director. I loved it, and I've watched the entire show 3 times because I can't let go. It was just too great. :(
Can't get enough- miss a well written and thought provoking show. SOOOOO hard to come by these days. And hey! No major sex and violence. What change. What a hope for us all.
Stunning music. Michael is just magnificent. He's one of those composers that has that common thread in every piece that he creates, no matter how different the project. Whether it's TV, film, or video games, you just know it's his. He has that magic touch that you just recognize instantly. I love him.
The music on Lost was a character in and of itself. No other TV show will ever come close to that again.
Agreed!
...or ever will. To allow a composer to develop motifs and liet motifs that evolve thru a series is almost forbidden on TV. They want the control to fire anybody. Lost would be nothing without Giacchino.

Just a few minutes of listening to that song from LOST makes me cry and become emotional.
Michael Giacchino is my favorite current composer. If I were a film or TV producer, I'd want him on everything I'm involved in.
I saw him at Star Trek Live in Concert to day straight he then played some new stuff from the New Apes movie. Wonderful.
I think fave TV composer is Murray Gold. SO good.
Please tell me where you got that UA-cam Icon. I've been looking for it forever. Please tell me.
Hans Zimmer's music is ok to listen to on its own, but as a film composer he really doesn't hold up at all to the likes of Williams, Silvestri, Giacchino, Goldsmith, and many others
I agree, Lew. And John Williams is another favorite of mine.

The good thing about Lost is that I have NEVER seen a pessimistic comment about it! Best show and music EVER!!!!!😊

The super 8 soundtrack is absolutely mind blowing! I love the music and I Love the film
Agreed on everything you said.
gumperman Thanks, I just love Michael Giacchino's scores
I love how lots of Michael Giacchino's pieces are so similar, yet they are so iconic in different ways to the films and TV shows they accompany.
