I got it a month ago and starting using it yesterday - I was surprised how good the built-in audio was! But my lens isn't Panasonic (I bought the body, not the kit), so I am not sure if this is a Lumix thing or the compatibility thing: my background was going in-and-out of focus. Setting: AF, without any added de-focusing of background. I mean, my face was in focus the whole time, but the background focus was 'moving'. Although the ZS80 (TZ95) has better battery life, the G100 is better due to the larger 4/3 sensor, its interchangeable lenses and its brighter full articulated LCD. That being said, it would give you a more control when needed over the ZS80 and the HX99.
Both are great choices. The SONY's built-in lens offers the wider aperture (ZEISS 24-70mm-Equiv. f/1.8-2.8 Lens), but it is not removable and interchangeable like the Panasonic's would be. >Mark
Aan & Aarya In Dreamland The Sony has better AF, plus Product Showcase, and the lens is quite good and reasonably fast. The Panasonic has greater potential for creativity because over time you can upgrade to wider, longer, and faster lenses than the Sony is capable of. It also has creative features for things like stop motion animation, and coupled with a macro lens blows the Sony out of the water for macro. It is also got more potential for better low light performance with faster lenses. In summary, the Sony is cheaper because everything is there at the point of purchase, but there is no upgrading to better lenses etc. What you see is what you get. The Panasonic out of the box is already excellent but is more upgradable over time. Kids, however, are more into “cool”, and the Sony is probably more “cool” than the Panasonic.
