- I've taken this part from Season 6's episode,"Jerico Games".
MacGyver and Nikolai(Paul Haddad) are locked inside an incinerator room.
Mac uses rod and the drawstring from Nikolai's pants to shape out his escape.
MacGyver was known for being a well-tempered man. It helped.
A conveniently placed metal rod.
Everything is convenient when someone can do something to succeed in life, like you could've been smart enought to get out of that situation EVEN with the convenient rod

That's why the original Macgyver worked in the 80s. Even if things were high tech back then, they were still "hackable" with a rubber band and paper clip. Nowadays everything is solid state.

All the draught is delivered by primary air blowers that inject air in various locations throughout the inside of the machine's roof and walls. The incinerator will have a massive high pressure blower (maybe even up to 4 depending on the size and rating) that delivers the air to the inside of the firebox. The grid in the floor would normally also have air injected into the hearth just as the incinerator lights and everything begins to burn fully just to help the fire get started, along with several other nozzles located throughout the roof and walls of the incinerator but otherwise it's an ash sump. All the air going into the furnace comes from the blowers, although some non-forced natural draught secondary air may come in through secondary air intakes (usually used for cooling if the temperature gets too high) as the blowers can provide enough primary air for a full-load incineration. The little window is to see inside the furnace and let the operator check the progress of the incineration and is made of reinforced glass that is extremely hard to shatter (and won't break with thermal cycling as the incinerator heats up and cools down and expands and contracts). HTH

Not really, all that would happen is the hot gases would trip the thermal fuses once it comes out of the sightglass aperture and melts the lead trip wire. I've fired a few times without a sightglass and the worst is the incinerator room filling with a smell of exhaust gases and said hot gases melting the thermal fuse wire and killing the burners and the oil tank pumps and gravity loops (the 500 gallon diesel tank for our machines are in a separate 120-minute fire rated room next door). The absolute worst case scenario would be hot combustion gases coming from the shattered sightglass but the volume would be very small and the combustion and charge air fans would likely spool up for a bit to overcome that. Worst case scenario, the thermal fuse wires above the machines would be melted, tripped and the fuel flow cut off. For fire safety reasons there's a lead cable mounted above the incinerators that once melted will cause a weight to fall and cause a valve fall under gravity to isolate the fuel (as well as sound an alarm saying there's a fire in the inceration room). Most incinerators are rated to run without a sightglass. In fact it's handy, all you have to do is buy marshmallows and stick them on a stick.

This stretches credibility...even for MacGuyver. 1. Room would heat up far far too fast for him to be able to hold onto anything metal. 2. most likely would not be able to breathe after about 30 seconds. 3. Glass in those furnaces are thick...like 1 inch thick..you are not breaking it with a thin rod using only hand force to try and break the glass.
