There's alot of movie at the theater time episodes in parallel. I just thought it was a neat way to get you interested in going to the theater. Paramount Pictures too
On the wikipedia page it said they often thought of macgyver tricks on location. Im assuming they did so with this. A location which would have such pendulum, would have scary looking heads there as well. This solution isn't so far fetched to me.

This scene was actually filmed in Vancouver, Canada at the First Baptist Church on Burrard Street, oddly enough.
I think this pendulum was real though..it worked to good to be fake.
