i was looking for help on changing the cabin filter but i'm glad i came across this. will do it myself next time. thanks!
+goaway the cabin air filter is just about as easy. It's behind the passenger side lower glove box.

Anytime Dionisius - Cheers from Canada!
Thank you so much! Watched a different video and I couldn’t get it back in until I saw your video and you showed where to put the square corner. I knew that must be part of it but I just didn’t know how.
Anytime - Cheers!
Thank you for this! It's great to feel empowered to take care of my own car - you're great!
it's really basic maintenance stuff... you would feel more empowered replacing the torque converter of your automatic transmission, for example
Dude. Thank you sooooo much! Perfect & informative - exactly what I was looking for.

Thank you so much for this video! I was very glad to learn that I didn't need to remove the battery and air hoses and to a large extent the engine! Ha! Ha! Ha! to replace the air filter! Do you have a similar video about "how to do a tuneup"? Many Thanks!
Thanks - I do have a video on changing spark plugs on Toyotas btw
Thanks!!time to put a new one in My Dad's 2010
$20-30 wow £8 non OEM here in the UK.Oil filter roughly £7 for a half decent one. These Yaris are awesome small cars as i have the 2002 and do all the bits n bobs myself.£26 forfront brake pads (Brembo) in a sale.
Thanks for this video. My service station wanted to charge me $24.00 to replace air filter and after watching this video, I purchased a new filter on ebay for $7.00 and DID IT MYSELF and saved $17.00!!! GREAT JOB and THANK YOU!!!
BTW: needless to say I won't be going to that service station again.
Thanks for the video! I'm not a car maintenance guy but now I am!
Well done - most maintenance can be done with a little coaching - its not rocket science as the car companies would have you believe.
+carquestions ...and videos like yours really break things down, make it easy for the rest of us.
Invest in a small toll set and watch many videos to just the confidence and visual experience as i have done.I do all the servicing myself on my 2002 Yaris incl the ATF,PCV valve,MAF sensor and throttle body cleaning.I also did my front brake pads myself which was a great achievment i tell you.My car runs smooth as silk with no issues at 89.000 miles and never had any isses not broken down in the 10 yrs of ownership.I am sort of tempted to get a newer model Yaris like in the video but mine has been 100% reliable and spot on.
thank you so much it help me alot..
+Laura M No problem glad to help
well done video
Wonderful....Thank you!!
Anytime Sally!
Great video. Thanks.
Thank you - cheers!
For this car can u add a come air filter ? If so can you make a vid for this
I was wondering about the square corner orientation, this video answered my question.
Any reason I shouldn't use compress air to clean the filter media rather than replacing the filter which are currently priced @$30.00 (incl tax).
A replacement SPT brand, WIX, & Toyota made filter, all now have 4 rounded corners & the material is not much more than styrofoam for its "gasket".
My old STP filter has a rubber gasket that perfectly fits the air filter housing which is why I'm going to use compressed air & blow it clean rather than replacing the air filter.
Yes, I've "liked", subscribed, & rang the notification bell.
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada
No problem re-using it - I do it myself - Cheers from Canada!
Thanks! 😁
Great, Great, Great . Thank you. :)
Anytime Rogelio
Super easy video to follow also just a highlight the 2009 model is the same also :D
Thanks for the info Redeemer
Thanks for the great video. I noticed that the air intake horn (bottom of video at 1:14) is loose, but I didn't see a way to tighten it. It doesn't seem to want to fallout but I'm concerned. Any advice about what I can do would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for sharing sir.
Its fine - the horn has a molded kind fit so it secures itself loosely
Aw, man thanks. That saves me a trip to have it checked out and some worries. I really appreciate it!
Have a great summer!
Great video and easy to follow! Thank you! Is the cabin air filter the same thing?
If it has one I wouldn't bother changing it until the car is 8 years old or you are having a problem with the heater/defroster
+Liz L. I have an 08 hatchback. I change mine about every 6 months or so...no harm in doing it regularly. It is just about as easy. It's behind the passenger side lower glove box.
thank you sir, made me save 30+$
+Maxime Alexandre Belanger Glad to help - no problem
Brilliantly clear, even an idiot could get it right wth that sort of guidance :)

Is it possible to change intake tubes to give more air to the filter-turbo ?
I have 1.4D yaris 2009 [2006-2009] , and im planning to make a "project" of it. And i need info, because I think doing that it will shorten the path for the air, and because of that it will give more air quicker to the filter-turbine, and thats why you can get a few additional HP.
Waste of money and time - you'll never feel a difference - turbo, cam, exhaust, injectors are needed for any real world difference - the rest is marketing BS
@@carquestions Thanks for quick and honest response.
Best of luck
Great video!
Thanks Natalia!
The air filter I've bought looks like this but has a wool type rectangle screwed onto the bottom, do I remove that before fitting?
I have changed the filter twice before and previous filters never had this attachment.
If it is the exact dimension and fits then use it otherwise no
Thanks
No problem
Thanks, could not find it in the book
Your welcome
Damn great video man this just saved me $70 bucks😁😁😁
Anytime Glynn
UA-cam saved me so much money with great detailed videos like these.
Hello Sir, can I clean the air filter and bring it back? Thank you.
You can blow them out with air and reuse it
how will be the time frame i'll change the air filter of my new car from zero kilometer?
+Angel Simblante Check your owners manual for the information
Hello can I ask you one question? I have the same model as yours but mine start to consume a lot of oil just recently since 2021. Do you ever have this kind of oil problem? And if so how did you solve it?
Thank you
Hi APTS - Get a leak down test performed on the engine to determine if the piston rings or valve seals are worn - let me know what the results are - Cheers!
@@carquestions ok i will thank you
Totally different to mine !!
Ya some are different
after how many kilometers do I have to change the air filter?
+jadhsyjhduyhjy It should say in the owner's manual - every two years or 40,000 kms should be fine - more often if driving on dirt roads
Does the filter go in facing up or down?
in same position as old one - look at old one - the dirty side goes away from the engine not towards it
What filter did you use
Cheapest one you can find
This is such a helpful video. Do you by any chance have the part number for air filter?
Kritika - best to just order or go to a local parts store and give make model and year - easiest and best way to make sure you get the right part every time - Cheers!
Is it the same for the 2012 Yaris?
Not sure - check your owner's manual to see how to change it - might give a clue
How about cabin air filter?
This Yaris didn't have one - lots don't - check your manual
Is the Toyota Yaris 2011 Terra Sporty engine belted or chained?
Send me the engine number and I'll tell you - we don't have that model here
@@carquestions 1KR-Y 52 220

@@carquestions Are you sure sir?
@@carquestions Because I saw near belt. Engine’s left near
Mine doesn't have that box
Then you have a different model or year of car Muaz
@@carquestions The year is the same, but I've just checked another video on UA-cam and looks like mines located behind the engine. I

What do i need to do if it is heating up?
If what's heating up - do you mean overheating the engine?
I mean if it is boiling or steaming up as i drive
It could be the cars radiator or lack of coolant in the vehicle
@1:28 did you call it the oil filter heehaww
Just like a goalie - trained professionals make mistakes
Reference???
me as a mechanic for 41 years - Cheers!
why to lift the car for changing the air filter ?? no need
There is no need - correct - just happened to be on the hoist
Why is there a second filter built into the housing? Do you ever have to change it? I have never seen a filter you can't replace.
It looks like a filter but isn't - just an air baffle - Cheers from Canada Bradley!
What a filthy engine bay. YUK!!
thank you so much it help me alot..
+Laura M No problem - glad to help
Thanks!!!
