good down to earth review..Looking into this option for windy lakes in wyoming. This could be the ticket for me. Thank you
Of course! I’d definitely go with the lightest option for that use. 6wt is ideal! Thanks for the kind words🤟🏻
what size sink tip you put on your reo chucker for stripping leach patterns
Do you run a tip on that rio chucker line? Or do you run a leader on it right out of the box?
I have a Orvis Clearwater 8wt 9 foot
Is that considered a switch rod?
Also I want to have 2 setups for pyramid
One for indicator fishing and one for striping
I want to use my current rod for either or
Thank you for the very informative and helpful review of the LRS.
I bought a 10ft 7wt as a backup a few years ago but never really fished it. What line can you recommend specifically for general purpose floating or skagit line?
Rio chucker is my line of choice! Thanks for the comment!
Hi I'm interested in buying a two handed rod for pyramid lake and I would like to know for a two handed indicator rod can I use regular 8.wt reel and floating line on a two handed rod Any help would be awesome
Are these rods rated for single-handed lines or switch/Spey lines
Great video !! I have subscribed to your channel 😀👍
Thanks for the sub! Appreciate you!
how do you like the DXF 5wt Switch also how is it for single hand casting? I am looking at the 6wt switch.
Honestly I don’t do much single hand casting with the dxf. The rod in this video is the LRS, which is a great all around rod for the price! I have a 5wt sky switch rod that’s awesome and I love, as well as a 7wt dxf switch as well. Love them both but to be honest there’s very little benefit to overhand casting them with what I’m doing! I know the guys surf fishing the coast love them for it but I don’t do much of that so I don’t have an opinion on it!
I have one of those and what is the best line to swing large streamers? I'm running an 8wt Rio floating line and it cast like a dream.
If you want to stick with rio, the rio grand is a great heavier weight forward line that can turn over the big stuff! If you’re like Spey casting though, you’ll want an actual switch line. Rio chucker with a sink tip is a great setup that I like, but every brand has some sort of a switch line that they make!
@@TheFlyDudes Thanks 🙏
Would a 9 - 10 wt. be ok for flying the surf ?
I think that's a little heavy! for the surf, i would fish a 6-7wt at the heaviest!
So for Pyramid what weight is ideal and what line do you like
I like it in a 7wt for out there! Good amount of backbone and light enough to enjoy the smaller fish too. And a rio chucker line is the line I like on it! I think it’s a 370 grain line. Thing launches!
I have a switch rod for lakes and still struggling with the cast. Any tutorials you suggest for casting them on the lake?
@@tywares I’ll put one together next time I’m out! Just think of it as a big roll cast, keep the rod tight to your body, and make sure you’re not releasing the line to late when you go to shoot it forward!
@@TheFlyDudes that would be killer, thank you!
you will not be happy with that rod spend the extra cash . been there done that
