Beautiful. Gibby meet Freddy…

Dodgers and Yankees have the best WS games of all time to match their reputation.
Brian Anderson would’ve had a crazy call
I work at LAX, I was out on the ramp loading a plane when I saw fireworks all over downtown light up , 2 mins later my coworker came out screaming GRANDSLAM!!! It was awesome watching the fireworks light up the LA sky knowing why
And you were working!!!!!!!😮😮 what kind of dodger fan are you!!!

One of the greatest endings to a baseball game in World Series history. I live 2 miles away from Dodgers Stadium and can see it from my house. I could hear the crowd roaring from my porch. The entire city erupted in fireworks. It was amazing.
Literally every public gathering in the city was buzzing! 🎉
❤
It was the best man. Never happened before!
Seeing this in person, cheering with the crowd, and getting to do all of this with my family has been one of the best feelings I’ve ever had. This is one of the best hits ever in baseball.
You are so lucky to have been there in person! The roar of the crowd must have been deafening!
Must've been an amazing experience! 👏
I told my passenger today that she was going to see something special. She was going to the game.
What a moment to see live!! Happy you stayed like a true fan
Yeah I was there and even though I’m a Yankees fan it was one of the most insane moments and games I’ve ever witnessed
As a Braves fan, I am so happy for Freddie. He 100% deserves this. He’s such an amazing player and person.
Freddie's homerun reminds me of 1988 Kirk Gibson's homerun, both with leg injury down in the ninth inning and wins it with a dramatic homerun.
As a Dodger fan, I always admired Freddie even when he was in an Atlanta uniform. He fought hard to get himself into the lineup and he earned this moment
I was rooting for the Yankees as a Braves fan who grew up in the north east. I was happy for Freeman at the end
@@Leo-ks3tf ima say 2024 ws gm 1 grand slam was better cause i was not born in 1988 but i don't mind them saying 88 was still better but still historic
Amen, I still have the Wheaties box with Kirk Gibson from that moment!
I lost my dad a year ago… Freddie was his favorite player. I couldn’t have imagined a better game 1 ending. I know my dad is smiling. 💙
God bless you and your family. Baseball is special.
He's got to be smiling from ear to ear.
Dude smoked that ball first pitch...awesome game
Condolences to you and your family. 😟

I'm a Brit who lives just 3 miles down the road from the Dodger's stadium and have done for 20 years. So I can't avoid being a big Dodgers fan! When I was in the UK I lived 4 miles down the road from Old Trafford, the Manchester United Stadium. So, I can say I have seen and heard some great occasions in sport, but Freddie's hit has to be the best, most memorable in any sport.
I was sitting outside when this happened. Hearing every house in my city screaming with excitement is something I’ll never forget….crazy.
You're Words got me Visualized the scenario - almost tears here , what a rush if you could hear every house

I can't believe this happened. This was something straight out of the movies. First ever walk-off grand slam in a World Series game. And it was Freddie Freeman on an injured ankle! People will still be talking about this one 50 years from now. I'm so glad I watched this game live. It doesn't get any better than this.
정말이예요. 정말 그게 맞았나라고 얘기하기도 할 거고요. 베츠 거르고 프리먼이 맞았나?
That's true. Kirk Gibson's 1988 walk-off home run is still being talked about to this day. Very similar situation here. I mean, both players were injured, both hit walk off home runs, in game 1, at Dodgers stadium. This one is memorable because it's the first walk-off grand slam in the World Series. What a game!

Nah. This ain't that big of a deal. Gibby's was the truth

Had to see this again this morning. I got goosebumps like it was happening live again. Just an amazing moment

What a fantastic call from Joe. Short but sweet and let the video and crowd noise tell the rest of the story. An old-school Scully-like call. Legendary stuff. Truly electric
Learned from the best.
I attended the 1988 WS game and witnessed Gibson's home run from my Field Level season ticket seats on the first base side. Biggest thrill of my life attending any game and that includes watching a Koufax no hitter when I was a boy.
To be fair, this was a hard-fought close game, well played by both teams, and I was on the edge of my seat for 10 innings. This now goes down as my second-best baseball game ever watched. Sorry, I am too old and frail to attend games anymore (nor can I afford the abominable ticket prices) so I saw this on television with all of you. Glad I lived long enough to see it. Go Dodgers!
Same here brotha and me being a Red Sox fans im extra happy for that win!!!!!
I might root for the dodgers just for you
I think it will go to seven games. Freeman repeated history today with his game winning grand slam bad ankle and all, just like Kirk Gibson did in 1988 with two bad knees. I like the Dodgers to win it all.
My grandma moved to LA the same year dodgers. I agree 100% your comments. Best wishes.

lol, me too. Some of the things you notice during the replays add to the moment. Like @1:12, bottom, left of center, you see a dad lifting up his daughter and hugging and jumping and her with a big smile on her face, to think of the moment they just shared together.
You can see Freddie’s dad in the front row, right side of the screen as this entire play unfolds. He’s in a black jacket with white trim at the top. He is sitting down and it almost seems like he is so nervous he is unable to watch at first. Freddie cracks the ball and dad lifts his head. The person next to Freddie’s dad gave him a nudge in the side, and dad stood up to celebrate his son’s GS.

Life long Dodger fan here , 52 yrs old . I’ve seen both Gibson and Freeman’s homers and they are both legend . To happen to two great guys and to hit them almost in the same spot , in the right field pavilion, of game 1 , amazing. Gibson’s homer was more dramatic because he was severely injured and his at bat was about 8 or 9 pitches long and the anticipation was growing with each pitch . I'm a yankees fan and I will admit that was awesome
Na just bad coach decision boy in the Yankees were the real winners
@@LuisRivera-lw4huyeah the coach fucked them, but it was still awesome!
@@LuisRivera-lw4hu K 👍

Respect brother
it’s been just over a month since this happened, I cannot explain the euphoria of watching this in the moment, but I still get chills having watched this countless times
That was a no-doubter. Freddie's swing is so majestic. Couldn't be happier for him - and the Dodgers.
WHAT AN ENDING BROOOOOOOOO
IKR
Only way it woulda been more perfect is if it was against them cheatin Astros
@@MDTFoodAndTravelare you just upset about game 2, 7 years ago today? Yes Astros cheated but didn’t benefit much from it
This is why I love baseball, baseball is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get
I was in my office at work and let out the most silent scream known to mankind while pumping my fists in the air like a mad man. I had to remain professional and it was one of the hardest battles of my life lol. Go Dodgers. 3 more wins. Lets do it for Fernando Valenzuela as well as for the greatest City and fanbase in the world. LA, stand Up!!
I’ve come back to this video about 20,000 times in the last month
My goodness...I can watch this a billion times. What a game!
Extra innings, bases loaded, World Series, Yankees dodgers hella pressure!!! This is what sports is all about and the moments we remember!!!
a dagger to my heart! instant classic for sure! hats off to Freeman!
as a Dodger fan i loved it, but i was ready for Freddie to just pop up but dam did he surprise me. I actually did feel bad for Yankees fan because they were 1 out away from taking a 1-0 lead on the road. but i only felt bad for a second lol.

1 second too long
Your NYY outfielder is Crazy! He literally Dove in the stands to get Ohtani out, then threw it from the seats!!! I love that guy !
@@craigwheeler4760Verdugo used to be a dodger so it was bittersweet, but yeah I always liked him and was sad when he left us
I just keep rewatching over n over. Amazing !Go Dodgers!
I was 16 years old when I was in front of the TV watching a hobbled Kirk Gibson crack a Dennis Eckersley pitch deep to right field in a walk-off for the 1988 World Series. Broadcaster Vin Scully said "she is gooooone!". 36 years later, I burned both my sons ears out talking about that memory at 16. Freddie Freeman steps up, cracks the first pitch deep to right field for the 1st walk-off grand slam in WS history while broadcaster Joe Davis says "she is goooone!!" as an ode to Vin Scully followed by "Gibby (Kirk Gibson) meet Freddie!!!" On a day Fernando Valenzuela would have thrown out the first pitch having passed away three days prior. He was 63 years old, the Dodgers won 6-3.The spirit of Tommy Lasorda and Fernando Valenzuela was out there tonight. Baseball couldn't get any more poetic than this moment.
Fernando was in the stadium tonight!! Great game!!
No, he actually passed away on Tuesday.

1:08 I just love seeing Mookie rounding 2nd and hopping up and down like a kid 😂 amazing what happened tonight!
😂 one mine fav part
Unbelievable - I was there. We were stunned. We couldn't believe it. Yes, I paid a lot of money for that ticket to Game 1 and it was worth every penny and then some!
After everything he went through. To see this is nothing short of a legendary moment. One of the top plays in mlb history💯 And i’m a giants fan LOL
There is nothing like hearing Gary Newmans "I Love LA." Brings back so many great memories. #ILOVELA

Brings back memories of the LA Lakers vs Boston finals in the 80s.
WE LOVE IT!
Baseball is a very special sport
I love Freddie Freeman. I have been an Atlanta Braves fan my whole life, and Freddie Freeman helped us out for 12 years (2021 WS Champs). He was a big reason that the Braves were able to get back into the playoffs so many years and get the World Series win in 2021 (Ronald Acuna Jr, Jorge Soler, etc). Honestly, I miss the 90's Braves!!! They always had many role players that made a huge impact. Anyways, Freddie and the Dodgers deserve this. Very well done, gentleman. HE DESTROYED THE FIRST PITCH!!! GONE!!!
I would have liked this team more than the 90's if Freddie had stayed with them. he should have never left, and he obviously knew that, but it worked out for him lol and i know I'm and I'm sure most of us braves fans are happy for Freddie. I really like Olsen, so like i said, it worked out well and like it was supposed to, but Freddie was the face of the braves, it was his team. granted it's very hard to win a world series, and the dodgers are now stacked with 3 mvps, but braves haven't won or been to one since. went to 2 straight national league championship series with Freddie too and same. if he'd stayed a brave, he'd had a statue outside truist when his career was done. hopefully he'll still retire a brave.
The most spectacular finish to a baseball game ever. The announcer's setup was brilliant, their call terrific, and then rather than talking over the moment, they let the fans do that for them. Literally a perfect sports moment all around. WOW.
the announcer setup was straight out of a movie
Yes 💯💯💯 you hit the nail on the head!
