...and then you remembered that NY couldn't sing like this!
Sure he could and he made better music.
NY's lyrics are close to poetry.
I'm a fan of Neil Young, Israel Nash, Joey McClellan (and Midlake) for that matter. 'Better music' is subjective. I'm looking forward to Nash fleshing out his style and groove.
No doubt it is subjective, and yet N.Young is of a different calibre, at least to me.
But let's see. I'll be looking forward to see I.Nash evolve.
Agreeing with Madi. Plus I don't think when Neil Young was "in his prime" people were comparing him to somebody greater or similar. He was in a way, unique. The fact that I.Nash is having the same guitar, a pedal steel guitar in the background / a ranch doesn't mean he sounds like Neil Young. Sure he's a big fan though...
