There was two actors that, I feel, were missed.
First, Jim Davis, who played Jock Ewing on Dallas (1978-1991), died after appearing briefly in the season four finale.
They kept his character alive by saying he was on an assignment for the US Government in South America. Midway through Season five, he was to be coming home but his helicopter crashed in a swamp.
The episode called “The Search” had JR, Bobby, and Ray going to South America to aid in the search for their dad; only to find a locket that Davis wore in the earlier seasons.
Next, Larry Hagman. When Dallas got revived in 2012; during its second year, Hagman passed away from complications of cancer. But he had filmed a few episodes before his death; so they wound up killing JR Ewing. And the whole remainder of season two was avenging JR’s death and revealing why and how he died.
The episode “JR’s Masterpiece” featured a mournful rendition of the Dallas theme; showing the Southfork Ranch and the varying locations, culminating in one last shot of Hagman as JR against a white background; before fading away.

Carroll Spinney himself died just within the last couple of years. It's sad that almost all of us that grew up with "Sesame Street" considered Big Bird one of our best childhood friends, and yet most wouldn't have recognized the name of the brilliant man behind it. I did know the name and was absolutely heartbroken upon hearing he'd passed as I'd always wanted to write him a fan letter to let him know how much of an impact he had on me. If you feel that way about someone else, take it from me: it's not a good thing to keep procrastinating on.

Here in Brazil we had a case in 2019 of an actor called Domingos Montagner who died in a river incident just days before shooting the last chapter of a soap opera. Instead of writing him off, the scenes were changed to his point of view, so every time he was supposed to be in a scene, the camera would be his point of view.

When Nicholas Courtney, Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart on Doctor Who, died, they paid a quiet tribute. The Doctor called the nursing home where the Brig was living, and the nurse sadly said that he had died peacefully "a few months ago." The Brig always insisted that a glass be kept ready for the Doctor in case he turned up.
And then the writers allowed him to save the day one last time when his spirit later embodied a Cyberman, and he helped the Doctor defeat the enemy.
The Destroyer: Ah... little man. What do you want of me?
    Brigadier: Get off my world!
The Destroyer: Pitiful. Can this world do no better than you as their champion?

The character was famous for always being broke, with a childlike sense of humour and an unshakable crush on his neighbour Nora Batty.
Bill Owen died in 1999 of pancreatic cancer and kept acting up until his death, when his character was said by one of their companions to have had a heart attack in the following episode. In this same episode, various other characters openly express their sadness at compo's passing, as well as introducing the audience to a new character in the form of Compo's estranged son who then joins the main troupe.

You forgot Will Greer, the lovable Grampa Walton on the 70s TV show, Walton's Mountain. The series handled his passing gracefully, writing it in to the series, & giving the actress who played his wife a more poignant role. Later, as she developed difficulties (I think she'd had a stroke), that was written in as well, until the character passed when the actress could no longer handle the part.
One of the best things about Walton's Mountain is that it let the cast grow up. Young actresses who'd played teenagers while the show was set during the Great Depression got older, got married; & then storylines followed the agony of waiting to hear from their enlisted husbands during World War Two. Children were added to the cast as the adult daughters got pregnant.
One of the final 2-hr TV specials (continuing the story after the series' cancelation) paid tribute to Grampa Walton in a unique way. In the story, one of the children got lost on the mountain in winter; & in between scenes where his worried mother & aunts were tearing the house & immediate grounds apart looking for him, we saw the boy unafraid, talking to someone off camera. When he's reunited with his family, he tried to tell them about his "friend," who'd kept him company; but they thought he'd imagined it.
Until the epilog, where the boy is sitting on someone's lap looking at a photo album. A picture of Grampa Walton comes up, & the boy, excited, points at the photo & exclaims: "That's him! That's my friend!"
Implying that he'd been watched over & protected by the ghost of Grampa Walton.
I watched this special while living in the dorm, in college, during the early 1980s. Can't say I remember much about the dorm, or my neighbors...but this movie had engraved itself in my brain!
