If you're still in west neb, you got to get out to fort Robinson (real old and cool fort they also used in WW1 spec ops training, and horse rides are amazing there) and also, the buffalo run historical site & toadstool geological park -its surreal bc you're all of a sudden encroached by desert and what it prob looked like pre settlement. There's also a native American museum out that way somewhere that was neat. It'd be a short detour on the way to north CO or south WY or to that massive crystal cave in far west SD
Great video. I am a Nebraska native although I live in the Ozarks now. I always enjoy my return visits to Nebraska. Wish you could see the Bailey Yard in N Platte. Then go north to Ft Robinson, then a right turn thru the Sandhills. More history there than you can imagine. Take the Sandhills Scenic Byway. In Broken Bow there is a nice city owned campground that is very reasonable. I am 75 and went to Pioneer Village when I was about 10. Loved it. Back then, the carousel was steam powered and so was the popcorn machine. Glad they are putting effort into bringing that treasure back to its former glory.
Thanks so much Larry! We’re so glad you enjoyed the video. We can’t wait for you to see our other Nebraska videos. We have a whole series of them coming up. Thanks for the tips on more to see… we’ve added them all to our map to visit in the future. Bet that carousel was something to see! They are beginning to refurb it now.
Was in Minden, NB when I was a child in 1956 with my Aunt, Mom, and cousins it was a sight then and I can imagine more so now thank you for showing it. Paul Kahr, Wisconsin
If you stayed on I80 through Nebraska, you didn't see Nebraska. Lots more to see when you get off the interstate. Go through the sandhills and end up at Crawford and see Ft. Robinson. If you're history buffs you'll like Ft. Robinson and the scenery to get there is one of a kind!
I have just started watching your channel. The few videos I have watched are just exactly the things I love. I live in Nebraska, and have my whole life. I have been through the arch three times and everyone have seen stuff I didn't the first time. Years ago we learned that the state of Nebraska is history rich. I have lived on the republican river my whole life. I have spent a ton of time up and down the Platte. Really look forward to your travels west. Thank you.
You need to read Blood and Thunder or listen to the audio book. I was kind of laughing. Enjoyed watching. My grandfather on my stepfather's side was a cowboy in the Valentine area. I always thought of that area of being flat and boring but it's actually interesting terrain.
I am so glad that people are not passing thru Nebraska without discovering our history. We watch the arch being pulled across the interstate during building this magnificent museum. You must travel thru the Sandhills of Nebraska. They are the largest deposit of sand dunes in the a Western hemisphere. They are covered with grass, that is so rich, the cattle do not need supplement feeds. It may be dry, this year as they have not had much rain. Go north out of Kearney to highway 2 west. Gorgeous rolling hills. Enjoy!
The Arch Museum is a winner but I’ve never stopped. I went to the University of Wyoming and so did my two sons so my late wife and I drove under it countless times. Boy we missed something special! I won’t bypass it again. We visited Pioneer Village many years ago and boy has it grown! I love Nebraska and my wife had her cancer therapies in Omaha. I still have close friends who live in the Sand Hills. I just have to get moving! Thanks for another great video!
I live in Kansas and I love going to Nebraska. We went to Hastings, Minden and Kearney last year. We have been to the Archway Museum and the Pioneer Village, 2 different times and yes the Pioneer Village is huge. We have also been to the car museum in Kearney, 2 different times, which I love. We are thinking about going back this fall. Thank you for the memories!
You weren’t there in the spring but you should mention the Sandhill crane migration thru the Kearney-Grand Island area in Nebraska. Be sure to check out the Rowe Sanctuary, just east of Kearney. Located on the south bank of the Platte River, between early February to mid-April, some 300,000 to 500,000 cranes will stop over for a few weeks to feed. The cranes roost in the Platte River at night. Rowe has a blind for observing the cranes as they leave the Platte in the morning or return to the River at sunset. Truly amazing!
We love that we found your channel, we live in Michigan and want to tent camp through Texas where we have family. Thank you, Thank you for all your Texas state parks videos. Now we are following your other travels. Stay safe and happy travels. We’ll be watching. Yes we did subscribe, with that bell 😀
Loved your video excellent job. That is my home state, I retired in Ecuador so it was really cool to watch your video today. Frustrates me when people say Nebraska is a flyover state. They have no clue especially the northern part of that state absolutely stunning. Good job keep it up and stay safe on the road. By the way if you ever get to Paxton Nebraska stop at Olie's and eat. Best damn Rocky mountain oysters you'll ever have LOL.
What a great video of our great area of Nebraska, especially my city of Kearney! There are always new things happening in K-town, currently there is a new botanical garden being constructed in one of the local parks...it will be fabulous!
This is what I love most about your channel. Y'all show me things I would have never seen and make me want to go to places I would have never wanted to go. Great video as always.
Great video! Thank you for stopping off I-80 to visit Central Nebraska! Minden is my hometown. Pioneer Village is a gem and often overlooked as few people take the side trip off the interstate. I am so glad you enjoyed your visit!
I watched your video earlier this year that spoke about pioneer village in Nebraska. My son is now at Air Force Base in Omaha Nebraska. We plan on taking our RV up there the summer 2023 to visit him. We just happened to watch American pickers tonight on the History channel. Guess what they had a complete show on pioneer village. There was over 20 quansum huts that they picked in and found all kinds of stuff. Apparently they picked the huts in 2022. Pioneer village was trying to raise additional money to renovate some stuff. They also had a online auction of a bunch of stuff they didn't need in the quantum huts in 2022. We thought about you all and your video when we saw the pickers tonight.
Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful tour of our area. There really is more to Nebraska than Omaha and Lincoln. Hope you were able to stop by Yanney Park and visit the new gardens. Great area and great people!
Good to see y'all! We're taking notes on NE as we are leaving Spearfish, SD Sept 21, heading back to Texas via NE and we've never been there. Safe travels!
Tom and Stacy this is a great looking town and the Pioneer Village looks amazing thanks for sharing the video hope you have safe travels and Be Blessed
The “Year to Volunteer” bunch came through in May 2022 and helped with work on some of the Pioneer Village area. They restored the sign with the red arrow in total. We live down by the baseball stadium in Omaha. Would have loved to meet you when you were here but we were in the Yellowstone/Tetons area at that time so maybe another time!
Glad you explored Omaha! Nebraska may have tons of cornfields, but we' re an awesome bunch of great friendly people. Im a Kearney resident and sadly i havent even visited the museum ( Glad y'all had an enjoyable stay..... also im from Ft Worth and moved here when i was 12...
Great having you share the experience of Kearney, Nebraska and the surrounding areas. Weather looked good and so enjoyed the museums visited with the history added. Stay Safe on Your Travels. Grammy Kay (aka, Mom)
San Antonio is great admiralty RV resort was great, full hookups, heated pool, dog park, and oh my gosh the river walk was the best and my husband loved the Tower of Americus thus far it's the best place we have visited our daughter and grand daughter has lived their for 13 years and by the way we love your video's.

You missed the Museum of American Speed in Lincoln, run by Speedway Motors. A great time there with some incredible vehicles and very informative staff that really know their cars.
Thanks for stopping in Nebraska. I saw you going west at Ogallala. I live in Hastings,NE. I could of offered you free camping. Did you see Stuhr Museum in Grand Island. Another great gem. Call us the next time in the area. SOOO much to see in Nebraska!
Can’t wait to visit Nebraska. Biden gems for sure. Don’t hear much about Nebraska. We have always wondered if you two had kids. We were hoping to get a glimpse of your son you mentioned.
This video is perfect timing. We will be in Kearney in a couple of days. Mainly we are stopping because of the Archway. Thanks for all the suggestions in your video. North Platte has a wonderful railroad museum we are told. It is a major hub for railroads going east and west. We have stayed at the Kearney RV Park and Campground before. It was spring 2020 and was one of the few independent RV parks open. It is a great place.
I have enjoyed this as not to many folks travel thru Nebraska. A you tuber long ago visited a cousin there and on her travels to Washington State she took you thru an Indian Reservation of which was interesting. Also there is a lot of farming there. Kearney and the area would be a fun place to visit. Had a great time at watching. Love y'all
Next time you come through Nebraska you'll want to stop in Grand Island and go to Stuhr Museum. It's called the "Gem of the Prairie". They have a working town called Railroad Town. The time period is the 1890s. One of the houses on the property is where Henry Fonda was born. I believe it is open May through September. The main building is beautiful and was designed by Edward Durell Stone. It is open year round.

Wow, looks like fun. Y'all need to go during football season and go the tailgate. No, not a fan of Nebraska. But just love football, I'm from Texas. 😂👍
We were east bound a few years ago on 80 and stopped at the arch. I did the Pioneer Village with our girls 40 years ago on a trip from Rapid City to my home state of Indiana. There was an RV park at the Village at that time. Don't know if it is still there or not.
You should have stopped off at Stuhr Museum in Grand Island, NE on your way to Kearney. It's a great historically recreated town from the Old West, complete with a working steam locomotive.

Absolutely an awesome historic site.

Seeing that 1967 Olds just about made me cry, man I miss my old car now after seeing one there.
