- I show you how to install the TAKEDA Stage 2 Cold Air Intake (CAI) on a 2015 Infiniti Q50 3.7 AWD.
Found the Takeda CAI kit (part # TR-3019B-D) on eBay, but it was missing the AFE filters.
Bought the AFE high-flow, oil-free, washable cone filters (x2) directly from the AFE website (part # TF-9023-D) - Авто та транспорт
First Mod I did to my 15' Q50 when I got it and I DEF do not regret it. the sound is amazing. Also I deleted all the breather tubes in the intake pipes. Took a small piece of rubber house and attached a small breather filter on each side. No need to dump dirty warm gasses into the Intake pipe
Have you ran into any issues since?
@@mustanguchiha2907 absolutely zero issues other than having to switch out one breather tube and a couple of hose clamps. I think it’s been 3-4 years now. Just be sure to regularly (maybe 4x per yr) clean the filters and inspect to make sure everything is tight.
Interesting…haven’t heard of that mod before, but will look into it. Thanks!
I installed the Rev9 exhaust before the intakes.
How is this comparison to factory ones
Those Takeda
stickers on the pipe lasted a h*** of a lot longer then the tag that's on the Box lol..
What is stage 2? Can I use this if I’m using just exhaust?
For the $460 cost of these intakes you would think Takeda would make sure their comapany name decals and badges would stick better and last longer. I think if i order this set up ill prolly just remove all the Takeda badges before i'm done with the install.
Right?!?! Huge marketing blunder, IMO.
The fact that their intakes are known by that flaw - SMH
@@j.d.2986 lol agreed they look good and suposedly perform well. They just need better adhesive or something on their badges
these sre probably the best since they use the stock airbox
Agreed. Very simple design with great power potential.
Did you have the intakes on before you installed the rev9 or did you install the rev9 first without the intakes
I did the intakes before the Rev9. So I guess that could definitely have an impact on the sound. But I can’t believe that it would make a noticeable difference.
How can this be better than drop in filters ?
Quick question did you drill the breathers pipe to be bigger?
No, didn’t have to drill them. But they were definitely a tight fit!
I ordered from Z1 and they sent me 2 of the same hoses 😢
How often do you have to clean these takeda intakes. Got the same mods on my car but my intakes are dirty.
I clean mine every 6 months or so. They could probably use a cleaning more often, but you have to let the filters air dry completely before reinstalling/startup. So that usually takes 4-5 hours depending on conditions, and it’s rare that I am able to leave the car for that long due to my busy schedule.
Overall, follow manufacturers recommended cleaning schedule for best results. Definitely clean them before a tune or any track time.
So this is a year ago do you recommend this product today? Looking for an exhaust
100% recommend. These have been great and pretty much hassle-free for years.
Have any lights appear on the dash after install?
None at all. It’s been a few months now and I’ve had zero issues with it. I fully recommend it.
@@j.d.2986 I've heard a lot of debate about these but I think it's worth it it's basically oem just made a little better and I'm sure with a tune you see some gains even if it's 3-5hp gotta try to squeeze every inch of hp out of this car na as possible right so in the end idk why people say it's not worth it if it's a money issue I get it😂😂
are the intakes loud when at high rpms?
yes, they sound amazing
Improved sound over stock, to be sure. But I’m usually more tuned in to the sound my exhaust is making. lol
I’m new to cars is this just for breathability ? Does it help performance
I haven’t done any real testing. But to me, they add a bit of pep -especially at WOT
@@j.d.2986did they give it a little more roar at low rpm ? did you just do a rev 9 axle back or what ? how’s that sound ? thanks
Do I have to get a tune after Installing the intakes or I don’t need to?
You can run this set without a tune - no prob.
Where did you get that spoiler from?
Xpert-Tuning on eBay. They will color match it to your vehicle. You just have to make sure to enter the color code you want when ordering. I noticed they’ve gone up in price since I bought mine; they’re around $105 now, which is still a pretty good deal. Hope that helps!
J.D. thanks man!
Can I use these on a qx70?
Unsure. If not, I’m sure someone makes a kit for yours.
How to know if its stage 1 or 2?
Good question. It’s actually just the name of the kit. I’m not exactly sure if there are any specific criteria for being Stage 1 vs. Stage 2.
Stage 1 is their momentum intake.
This stage 2 is a larger filter, and the heat sheild box.
The momentum is more enclosed, but smaller filter.
Do i have to upgrade the manifolds if i get these?
No, they fit right onto the stock throttle body using a silicone coupler (included). I believe this kit is designed to be a standalone, Billy on upgrade, so you don’t really need any supporting mods - such as upgrading the manifold, etc.
The car compmetley stock?
I had the Rev9 axel-back and the Pedal Commander, but that was it at the time.
q50 has two intakes?
Yes. The vq37 is a v6 that utilizes separate intakes for both the L and R side cylinders.
Heard a tune will make this shit really worth it nice vid
Thanks! Yeah, I think a tune is the next step.
Can you tune a car with just exhaust and intake? I have the 3.7 no turbo
Is yours a hybrid?
Naturally aspirated 3.7L V6
I have heard that it fits the Hybrid. And know of one hybrid owner that uses it.
My check engine light came on after installing these 😢
Oh no! Maybe check all the hoses and clamps, and definitely inspect your MAS sensors. They are super delicate.
Once, after some dealership service (before I installed CAI), my Q ran like crap and CEL went on. Turns out that a dead fly has been dislodged somewhere and sucked up into one of the MAF sensors. Took it back and they sorted everything out. But goes to show you that any little thing can trip out these sensors. Good luck!
Naturally aspirated?
Yes. 3.7 NA
How'd it feel?
Feels good. Definitely a bit more snappy around the 3.5-5k rev range. So far no issues with the kit at all.
Before you had the intake could you hear the turbos?
Mine isn’t turbo. It’s a 3.7 L naturally aspirated. So I don’t know for sure, but I bet it would make turbos a bit louder.
Weak rev
Yup! I didn’t actually rev it in this video. Just a cold start. But seriously, if you can, I recommend the Rev9 axle-back for a cost-efficient way to improve the street appeal of any Q50.
