"Real spies are nothing like James Bond. It's pure fantasy." Says the guy who runs around in a Russian jungle dressed in tuxedos, occasionally hides inside boxes, and fights soldiers with superhuman abilities and even a ghost at one time xD.
"when a normal woman sees a snake, she's supposed to scream or get sick or something like that" "and you think you're normal?" "what was that!?" "nothing" "ooh, it's all your fault!!"
+Max McDougall Yeah, that was fucked up, bringing a guy back who wanted to stay dead with his lover, forcing him to become a living weapon that is in constant pain.
Somebody in the comments mentioned something about putting in the times of the various Codec subjects. I've included the dates of the movies mentioned, edited the titles to reflect the official spellings, and listed the subject of the call otherwise: 00:00 - Godzilla [Gojira] (1954) - You really like movies, don't you, Para-Medic? 01:52 - The Creature From the Black Lagoon (1954) - being careful in the water. 03:03 - It Came From Outer Space (1953) - the home theatre revolution. 04:22 - Forbidden Planet (1956) - being invisible. 05:17 - Earth VS The Spider (1958) - suspending your disbelief. 06:06 - Them! (1954) - eating ants. 06:47 - Jason and the Argonauts (1963) - special effects. 07:40 - (no movie) - Snake gets back on the mission and Para-Medic's career is hanging by a threat. 09:38 - On the Beach (1959) - World War III. 10:23 - The War of the Worlds (1953) - so, you haven't seen the movie. 12:44 - A Fistful of Dollars [Per un pugno di dollari] (1964) - gunplay? 13:15 - 007: From Russia With Love (1963) - James Bond. 15:26 - The Last War [Sekai Daisensou] (1961) - the responsibility to stop war. 16:13 - Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964) - black comedy. 16:53 - The Guns of Navarone (1961) - the Major's recommendation. 17:44 - 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) - a giant squid, huh? 18:23 - The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms (1953) - getting absorbed. 19:18 - The Magnificent Seven (1960) - no spoilers. 20:05 - My Mother Was a Teenage Spider Queen From Mars (not a real film but a another Bowie reference) P1 - nope. 20:22 - (no movie) - don't save. 20:45 - My Mother Was a Teenage Spider Queen From Mars (it relates to The Spiders From Mars, Bowie's backup band from the early 70s) P2 - no, sorry, distracted. 21:08 - North by Northwest (1959) - Para-Medic's origin story. 22:26 - The Blob (1958) - unusual sights. 23:02 - The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) - the Navy boy. 24:09 - Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) - clones of Snake? 13:47 "What good is a pen going to do me in the jungle? I'd look like a fool." *flashes back to GoldenEye, where Pierce Brosnan's Bond brought a pen grenade into the jungle and wasn't asked any questions about it*
just wanna point out how the "you think they're still going to be making godzilla movies then?" joke is still relevant 20 years after this game's release
Para-Medic: It's about a man who is a- Major Zero: Para-Medic, let's not get into that or this game will be rated M for Mature Snake: M for what? *T I M E P A R A D O X*
Yep she was right..The 50th anniversary of godzilla happened,In celebration of the 50 years of godzilla..They make a movie called Godzilla:Final Wars which features almost every godzilla fan's favorite kaiju..Then in 2014 Legendary got the rights from toho to do a godzilla movie..Then 2016 the iconic Shin Godzilla movie appears..Then toho wanted to expand godzilla into Anime..There is Godzilla Earth..The most tallest godzilla incarnation ever and then there's Singular Point Godzilla which is I guess heavily inspired from shin godzilla..If Para medic was still alive to this day..She would have totally love godzilla
The next console release for Konami should be a full, HD version of the secret dream game in MGS3 where Big Boss wakes up at the end and realizes the whole game took place during his 9 year coma.
Snake: well...can't say i like James Bond.. Major: What you don't like about James Bond the fantastic Gadgets, the cars, the guns, having a hot woman in the bed at night or drinking a vodka martini shaken not stirred, or change your codename as 00-Snake? :D Snake: Major!..-__-
I always felt it was more to do with how much she'd been forced to endure because of who she is. How much she was used and exploited throughout her life. When she says "there is nothing left inside me now, nothing at all. No hatred not even regret" it hits hard. Because (much like Solid Snake) she was just a tool to exploit.
I agree but when it comes to MGS if you don't have a pliable imagination as to what is believable your gonna have a bad time. Compared to a lot of totally unrealistic and unexplained character traits and abilities in this game alone, the us government sending a reliable old war hero on a secret journey to space in a desperate attempt to beat the ruskies in the space race is actually quite grounded.
As much as i loved these codec calls, it was sometimes frustrating when you had to save the game and leave, but she starts telling an interesting story that you know you won't hear again. So it was either quit or listen to the story with half effort because you're looking at the clock and counting minutes lol..
I believe she was misguided and forced to do something she liked like Sokolov. He wanted to do rockets and ended up making missiles. Maybe Para-Medic wanted to do something related to her movie fascination and ended up doing clones, cyber ninjas and gen modifications.
Just a reminder that Big Boss was very fond of Frank Jaeger/Grey Fox. He even made sure Frank's sister had a future in america. Meanwhile Para-medic helped clone Big Boss, and thus we got Liquid and Solid Snake. Snake went and mortally wounded both Frank and Big Boss in Zanzibarland. The Patriots took Big Boss away, and what's left of Grey Fox was given to Para-medic to torture and experiment on, until Naomi set Grey Fox loose and he killed Para-medic. Naomi meanwhile poisoned Snake with the Foxdie. Grey Fox then went on to cut off Ocelot's hand, save the world from Liquid, and inspired Snake to start Philantrophy. And Snake himself helped end the reign of the Patriots. It's crazy how super connected everything is in MGS. Characters play god with creating other characters, and their creations either destory eachother or save the world.
I think it would be cool if you put the time each different conversation begins, and maybe on each conversation start put: Godzilla, It Came from Outer Space, etc.
I'm so conflicted about Para-Medic. In MGS3 she's a nerdy waifu who is fan of sci-fi movies, but then we discover she worked on cloning Big Boss and turning Gray Fox into a cyber ninja. She became what she was a fan of: a mad scientist.
Emigdiosback Para-Medic lived til 2003, my dude. Despite what year the game takes place, a movie buff like her probably would have watched it eventually.
jcage #awsomness Which 1982 film? Are you talking about The Thing? Because The Thing in 1982 was a actually a remake, she was referring to The Thing From Another World which came out in 1951.
"Real spies are nothing like James Bond. It's pure fantasy."

"when a normal woman sees a snake,

"and you think you're normal?"
"what was that!?"
"nothing"
"ooh, it's all your fault!!"
Something tells me Big Boss should've married Para-medic.
+SeFu2006 She probably was suppose to be other love interest to Eva... but then someone had crazy idea.
The leaked MGS3 script mentioned her being a recent divorcee when MGS3 started
+SeFu2006 yep, specially when 7:50 happens
HupCapNinja ;)
So would Snake and Liquid be more like Otacon and nerdy than before?
You know, now that I know Kojima is a huge movie nerd, it makes me love Para-Medic a little bit more.
+Max McDougall Yeah, that was fucked up, bringing a guy back who wanted to stay dead with his lover, forcing him to become a living weapon that is in constant pain.
Campbell: That's the sickest thing I've ever heard...!
No shit, Colonel.

thanks
Even 6 years later, this is very useful, you're cool man.

"What good is a pen going to do me in the jungle? I'd look like a fool."
*flashes back to GoldenEye, where Pierce Brosnan's Bond brought a pen grenade into the jungle and wasn't asked any questions about it*
- Snake, have you ever seen "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"?
- Y...no, I haven't.
Hah, a reference to Kojima's "Snatcher" game I suppose. Great one.
DarkEvilous No,this movie actually exist
Yeah but Snake almost said "Yes" - i.e. he was thinking of something else with "Snatcher" in the title.
Or maybe it's a foreshadow of Les Enfance Terrible project
I always thought that snake had actually seen the movie, he just wanted to keep up the thing with para-medic
I wonder what Para medics thoughts on future movies were like star wars the Godfather die hard aliens terminator etc
just wanna point out how the "you think they're still going to be making godzilla movies then?" joke is still relevant 20 years after this game's release
I didn't understand how people could have waifus until Para-Medic started doing these save talks.
lmao
What's a waifu?
Luke Carroll it's basically your anime or video game female crush
After discovering that she supervised Les Enfant Terribles project , she's not a waifu anymore.
@@CrickettoSantalune Well Grey Fox took care of her
The Godzilla talk is blatant advertising for the 50th Anniversary edition DVD that came out in 2004 lol.
"Hey Snake, have you ever seen 'A Serbian Film?'"
Volgin : "I have!"
EVA : "Why am I not surprised?"
Order66 Raikov: “I really liked the ending scene.”
Para-Medic: It's about a man who is a-
Major Zero: Para-Medic, let's not get into that or this game will be rated M for Mature
Snake: M for what?

''Who are you?''
''Just call me... Deepthroat.''

Major Zero:SNAAAAKEEEEEE
Snake is Dead
Continue Call Exit Call
Para-Medic being right about Godzilla still going strong in the future. 👌
/tv/'s waifu
33:17 Lol at that exasperated "nope"
4:10 perfectly captures Kojima games: movies where you control the characters
The next console release for Konami should be a full, HD version of the secret dream game in MGS3 where Big Boss wakes up at the end and realizes the whole game took place during his 9 year coma.
OH that would be nice!
that was a game that got canceled mane. sad news
Snake: well...can't say i like James Bond..
Major: What you don't like about James Bond the fantastic Gadgets, the cars, the guns, having a hot woman in the bed at night or drinking a vodka martini shaken not stirred, or change your codename as 00-Snake? :D
Snake: Major!..-__-
4:38 Genius Kojimbo predicts Morbius, 18 years before its release.
Para-Medic:Snake have you ever seen any movie at all?
Snake:no, im too busy saving the world
Maybe he did see a dracula movie and perhaps a James bond flick too. Would explain why he doesnt like them.
I'm studying "Them!" in film studies, it feels fitting that an anti-nuke film is mentioned in an anti-nuke game
Gotta wonder how movies are in the 60’s...
Paramedic’s enthusiasm with them makes me wanna experience it how it was at that time.
Snake... SNAKE?! SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKEHave you ever seen "Ben-Hur"?
A girl after my own heart, cause I love movies.
33:46 Thats some pretty eerie foreshadowing of the Boss' secret mission to space.
I always felt it was more to do with how much she'd been forced to endure because of who she is. How much she was used and exploited throughout her life.
When she says "there is nothing left inside me now, nothing at all. No hatred not even regret" it hits hard. Because (much like Solid Snake) she was just a tool to exploit.

fell off the chair when snake mentioned tight pants
"it's Morbin time"
Paramedic in Mgs3, and Cassandra in Soul Calibur games...have the same voice!!!
Really? That's cool, when I was a kid, I had a crush on Cassandra lol she's hot.. For a video game character.
+Tim Peters (Timboslice) I agree with you, she is the hottest character in Soul Calibur saga...after Taki and Ivy obviously ;)
+MrRenix1990 haha of course. ;)
Heather halley
25:48 That does sound the same as when Solid Snake asks Naomi to share her story to take HIS mind off the pain, Metal gear Solid the first.
You should ask her if she wants to save, but only at the end of the interview. That way you don't have to do the interview again if she dies
Hideo at his absolute apex - I like the story of MSG2 more but this game has the gameplay and the presentation on fucking point
wait a moment para-medic is Naomi's sister Dr. Clark
No, Dr. Clark was killed by Gray Fox who is Naomi's brother, i think you got confused. She experimented on him for years. But Clark *is* Para-medic.
As much as i loved these codec calls, it was sometimes frustrating when you had to save the game and leave, but she starts telling an interesting story that you know you won't hear again. So it was either quit or listen to the story with half effort because you're looking at the clock and counting minutes lol..
So basically, Para-medic was kinda responsible for the creation of the stealthy cardboard box.
4:11 "they will even be making movies where you can control the character" shes probaly talking about heavy rain :P
I still don't get how Para-Medic who eventually named Dr Clarke start to experiment on Gray Fox turning him into Ninja
I believe she was misguided and forced to do something she liked like Sokolov. He wanted to do rockets and ended up making missiles. Maybe Para-Medic wanted to do something related to her movie fascination and ended up doing clones, cyber ninjas and gen modifications.
I love the fact she mentioned Dracula again with the other monsters in the box and he didn't say anything
30:30 - I'm guessing this is during The Sorrow?
Yeah. Since everyone you call during the "boss fight" screams, they think you died from drowning. (remember Snake is drowning in the psychical world)
Just a reminder that Big Boss was very fond of Frank Jaeger/Grey Fox. He even made sure Frank's sister had a future in america. Meanwhile Para-medic helped clone Big Boss, and thus we got Liquid and Solid Snake. Snake went and mortally wounded both Frank and Big Boss in Zanzibarland. And Snake himself helped end the reign of the Patriots.
It's crazy how super connected everything is in MGS. Characters play god with creating other characters, and their creations either destory eachother or save the world.
"Snake, have you ever heard of Moonman?"
Funny how Para-Medic told Snake that someday he'll be able to turn invisible at 5:12. (MGSV :DD)
News Reporter i think its a reference to the invisible camo
I think it would be cool if you put the time each different conversation begins, and maybe on each conversation start put: Godzilla, It Came from Outer Space, etc.
I'm so conflicted about Para-Medic. In MGS3 she's a nerdy waifu who is fan of sci-fi movies, but then we discover she worked on cloning Big Boss and turning Gray Fox into a cyber ninja. She became what she was a fan of: a mad scientist.
You like movies about gladiators, Snake?
What happens if you call and save after hearing about all the movies?
Snake says he's hear about the movie already because she's already told him. She starts repeating the movies.
1555? Da Vinci had a movie camera?
I don't understand how to save....
9:13
Yeah, that would be so awful and insane. Luckily that will never happen, hahaha. XD
Para-Medic: Snake, how you ever seen "2 Girls, 1 Cup?"
Snake: Nope.
Para-Medic: Let me tell you about it.
If the Earth stopped spinning, won't we all spin with it? I mean- It'd be almost forever, so won't it be a bad idea or something?
i know this was the 60s right?
let's stay in character
20:22 What triggers this?
Saiving in the ends boss figth
This game came out way before Heavy Rain did.
She Go On On On On On On On On.
1:53 PS2 Did This
CRAB BATTLE UGH!!!
*facefloor* he's reffering to the fact that Heavy Rain is conducted like a movie!
wait what the game is seat in 1968 but the movies are from 2004
No, which movie are you thinking about?
All of them are old before 68. Maybe you're thinking about remakes.
Lol, I wonder if Para-Medic ever saw the 1988 version of the Blob...
Emigdiosback Para-Medic lived til 2003, my dude. Despite what year the game takes place, a movie buff like her probably would have watched it eventually.
Stove Sexkik I am not your dude, friend!
13:19
Zero triggered.
faved
Wait a second the thing was a film that came out in 1982 how does paramedic know about it it's 1964, What?
jcage #awsomness Which 1982 film? Are you talking about The Thing? Because The Thing in 1982 was a actually a remake, she was referring to The Thing From Another World which came out in 1951.
WeylandYutaniInc91 oooohhhh I'm an idiot! 😯
