Bill Harris is one of the great underrated guitarists of the early rock and R&B era. He used to teach guitar in downtown DC. I really wanted to take lessons from him but couldn't get my parents to drive me from Fairfax County to the District every week. The Clovers were really great and unforgettable.
"Showtime at the Apollo", Used to watch this late at night on channel 11 in NY. Clovers were a class act and, at the time, Atlantic Records most successful artists.
Love this group!!! I read that of all the great groups back in the 50's-- The Clovers sold more records than any group. Watch these cool cats and their great sound and you can see why!!!
One of the greatest early Doowoop groups the late and great Buddy Bailey. I play them on my internet radio show The Doowoop Hour. Me The Masterblaster.
Wow! I really enjoyed watching their performance. On the Aretha Franklin TV series, two of The Clovers songs were played "Lovey Dovey" and " Little Mama".
The Clovers from left to right: Harold Winley, Harold Lucas, Billy Mitchell, Matthew McQuater and Bill Harris on guitar. The announcer was Willie Bryant.
I’m of the opinion that the Clovers were the greatest of the fifties R&B groups. I just don’t like the Doo Wop tag because most of these musicians and singers were so much more than that. Just think of all the hits records they had! And the great vocals plus Bill Harris on guitar. The only group that comes close are the Coasters. And there is a connection there. Blue Velvet should win it hands down!
To you men in the modern world, stop wearing these tight suits for dressing formal. Because you're looking ridiculous crazy in them. And go back to the original styles of suits like what these artists are wearing.
Just the way they dresses is a totally different thing from what men are wearing these days. I hate the way they tailored the men's suits these days. They're so tight that there is not even room for them to pass gas and then the Rumpelstiltskin pointed toes shoes make them looking out of classic style.
I've been listening to them since about '55 and will never stop listening to them.
That's what I call best music ever!!!!
Beautiful, From one of the greatest group harmony vocalist that ever existed.
Roge BGoode ...I concur!
They aren't singing what I'd heard...concerning a "ball" Old devils.........🤔🤔
A lot of sound from 4 voices
These guys were wonderful. That guitar and sax sound great.

It's a shame they couldn't include some of their ballads, which I think is their heart and soul.

You can sit wherever you're and laugh at me.
Can anyone tell me the name of that announcer?
I'm so glad I'm apart of this generation and not the one of vipers.
Can’t remember the announcer’s name. Anybody know?

Agreed, the Clovers recording of "Blue Velvet" is an under-recognized gem, a rare perfect record.
Are you related to Murray the K?
Didn't I here this in the ray movie
😂😂❤
your tender lips
But they are not in the rock n roll hall of fame. Instead they put Johnny Cash in & Dolly Parton!
so guess that deserves the head scratcher of not making sense that inevitably arrives were The Clovers inducted into the Country Music hall of fame
Yeah, I’m sure Alice Cooper is in there too. I stopped paying attention to that bunch of clowns after the first year they started.
It a shame that they are not in the rock n roll hall of fame. The rock n roll hall of fame was designed for white people
