    Hey what's the go with UA-cam not putting you over the top of 100k yet???!!!! There's no way people are not going to see Dr Rics face melting blues set at Guitcon and not beat the door down to sign up. C'mon people share this one round to as many folks as you can!!!

    Great review, to me the 3 best we’re the 808, such a classic tone, the pony boy is a very close second, I like the control you get w that pedal ,and the Pride of Texas is a great sounding box, I like the fact you used the DSL, I love the HRD but the Marshall has such great tone and all of those pedals really accentuate its sonic quality, excellent choice of the Texas heat speaker as well, Everything combined really brought out some great sounds from that Strat

    They all sound great, but the 2 standouts for me are the Pride of Texas and the Ponyboy pedals. Maybe because they're the lest TS clone sounding of the bunch, but I hear more note articulation and distinctive tone form those two. Great demo, as always, Shane!

    The Pride of Texas has become the centerpiece of my tone. I like to use the neck pickup of my tele with with the pedal at a moderate gain and decently high treble into a slightly driven Tweed blues junior. Danelectro really knocked it out of the park with that one

    nice info on your personal touch to usage in context to jamming an gigging ...todays amps an gear i think cranking amps to the point of natural distortion is asking to replace tubes once a week ...pedal waise with out sounding like a blues snob ...they to me are all tube screamerish in there own way.,but showing there is alternatives in availability an price is a on spot idea to the real devoted players who cant afford a klone, or any of the higher priced pedals...i like them all they all have there own mojo but all in some way pay ahmage to the mid hump or boost of a screamer...stacking is a great way to keep from buying a fuzz pedal though...nice video shane

    As primarily a single-coil guy this video is right up my street. I'm always on the look out for new sounds. My current single-coil pedal board consists of: TritonLab Labyrinth --> DOD Gonkulator (set as a boost) --> TrueTone Garage Tone Axle Grease delay --> Vick Audio '73 Rams Head BM fuzz --> VFE Old School Tremolo --> Carl Martin HeadRoom spring reverb.

    Man those sound awesome! Really dig the Pride of Texas! have the same MIM Strat with a maple fretboard and at lower volume, I really love the JoYo Ultimate Drive, which is a Fultone OCD clone. You can keep the gain back around 9 o’clock and it’s super clean but hot, or crank it up more and when you roll the guitar volume back it cleans up really nicely. The best part is you can get it for under $30 USD! 🤙🏻 😎🎸

    • @Atttuner
      @Atttuner 5 років тому

      Have you actually AB tested both? I'd be open to using one as a second gain stage but would want to know its not a waste of cash as a poor photocopy of the orig?

    • @Craig_Fussell
      @Craig_Fussell 5 років тому

      Admittedly I haven’t A/B tested a real OCD vs. the Ultimate Drive because I’m just a bedroom hacker on a budget, but I listened to tons of audio online before getting the JoYo and they seemed very similar in function (taking into account all rigs and recording methods vary). For the money, the Ultimate Drive doesn’t disappoint, but again I’m not a gigging pro so I can’t speak to the durability, etc.

    Which one of these works best with a telecaster?

  • @Atttuner
    @Atttuner 5 років тому +3

    Definitely need a TS with a strat in front of a Fender amp to shape that mid focus required to stand out in the mix. Getting an attenuator so I could actually use the overdrive in my Deluxe was a revelation. I'm convinced most FHRD owners have not even played its full breakup range given the volume required is so prohibitive. Highly recommend selling a pedal and trying one if you haven't out there. (note: Two Notes Captor is only $220 USD and there are similar affordable choices like it)

    • @bluesrocker91
      @bluesrocker91 5 років тому

      I used to crank a Hot Rod Deluxe as standard practice. It sounded glorious, but was impractically loud for most situations. It also meant I went through valves like wildfire, and eventually killed the stock speaker. I bought an attenuator, but found that it tended to make the tone quite muddy and fizzy. So I ended up with an overdrive pedal... I tried a few different ones, and settled on a Boss BD-2. I just leave it on and ride the volume control, just as I used to do with the amp cranked. It's not quite got the same feeling of a small nuclear bomb going off behind you, but the tone is much better than through the attenuator, we get more gigs and less complaints.

    • @intheblues
      @intheblues  5 років тому +1

      The V3 has the best EQ stack I've tried on a klon but if you want the legit original sound the one before it is great and stacks great into another pedal. If you want to use the pedal on it's own maybe the V3. Both are great.

    • @intheblues
      @intheblues  5 років тому +2

      I think they are great rhythm guitar pedals / boost pedals but I don't like them so much as a one pedal does all kind of thing. For lead tones I prefer a mid bump pedal like a Tubescreamer for example.

    Whats the best one or ones to get the hugest Hendrix - Stevie Ray type tones possible?

    • @topherrrr92
      @topherrrr92 4 роки тому +1

      Michael Craig from my understanding, SRV is just a 6L6 or 6V6 (pretty much a Fender) amp cranked up to edge of breakup with a tube screamer type pedal in front with very, very low gain and high volume to push the amp and then tone to taste. Hendrix, on the other hand, is more of a cranked British style amp (EL34 typically) with a fuzz (typically a fuzz face) cranked up and the volume of the guitar turned down to slightly clean it up. If you want to add more saturation or get nice bite for a lead you just turn the guitar volume up. I forget the UA-camr that has a really good video on the Hendrix tone. If you search Hendrix fuzz secret it should pop up. I think his name is like millstep or something like that.

    I have a maxon 808, an analog man King Of Tone and a Xotic BB Preamp. Honestly the BB Preamp is part of my tone with strat, tele and even Les Paul, react very well to the volume pot of the guitar. The King of Tone is nice but I think it is overrated, doesn’t deserve the resale values on used market

    why do you have a can of finger ease in the background? that crap is a total scam, it doesn't anything except relieve fools of excess cash. think about it... if it make the strings somehow softer or more pliable, the string tension and pitch would therefore drop. did they sponsor you or something? kinda says something about you if that's the case, because I seriously doubt that you wouldn't know that they were complete BS.
